“Today was my first visit to this charming gem in Harlingen, and it certainly won’t be my last. Tucked inside a quaint and welcoming little house, stepping through the door felt like walking into a warm and cozy home, with the hostess greeting us warmly. We sat in one of the back rooms, and the ambiance transported us straight into a romantic tea party, surrounded by vintage decor that perfectly suits the place’s name. The service was attentive and prompt, and the food was incredibly fresh and flavorful. I had their famous chicken salad sandwich, paired with a nutty salad—both comforting and delicious. The broccoli cheddar soup was like a warm hug for the taste buds, hearty and full of flavor. What made the experience even more special was the owner personally greeting us, making us feel truly welcome, and tempting us with the dessert menu—a weakness of mine! I couldn’t resist the lemon lush: fresh, citrusy, and heavenly fluffy. Every detail of today’s visit was perfect!“

“I’m from the Midwest but I went to college down here in the RGV. Back here visiting, we always hit the raspa stands. This one was really good! The best picosito I’ve had in years!! The wife got the mangonada, that was also excellent! My son got a raspa along with a marranada which was super good too!! There were some others in our party that got coconut cream and some other stuff. Everything was really good!! Best of all I think we got 5 raspas and that marranada and the total was only about $15. If they had a stand where I’m from they could charge $5 per raspa and make a killing!“

“During a day trip to Harlingen we stopped in this little restaurant for breakfast. It doesn't have a very extensive menu, but the upside is a super friendly staff and great food! Seems to be a family business, very informal. We requested a business card which referred to the place as the Pastry House. And yes, they do have a case full of great-looking pastries... plenty of cupcakes and regular sized cakes. On Google Maps it shows up as the City Coffee Shop, which has only two reviews on TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor does not list Pastry House at all, so the name may have changed just recently. We encourage you to stop in, enjoy a meal, and grab a cupcake or two.“
