It and the fried okra (and I'm sure onion rings etc) are made from scratch, it's oh so yummy light batter, not greasy!The owner Elizabeth and her husband are very friendly. “Food isn’t as spiced as I would’ve hoped but I attribute this to being located in an old white neighborhood (I don’t blame the kitchen staff for not wanting to get sued for using pepper in their food). Margaritas are fantastic, and food is otherwise very good.“
“Was at the State Park Visiting family today and as we left we were hungry so got on the innerwebs and found this place, so we decided to take a chance. I’m glad we did. We walked in and got a table, the waitress greeted us and took our drink order. As soon as we got our drinks we ordered. She had the chicken fried steak which is hand breaded and I had the enchiladas which tasted freshly made. I’ll tell you what, this is some of the tastiest food I’ve had in a while. I’m glad we took a chance on this place and definitely will recommend it to anyone who asks! Good service and friendly people. Thanks to the staff for a great meal tonight!“
“I ordered 4 tacos (Azado, Barbacoa, and 2 chicharon). The chicharon and Barbacoa were my favorite, super flavorful (the chicharon was slightly salty but with extra lime juice it wasn't an issue). The Azado was larger pieces of pork, with a slightly smokey flavor. If the spice punched through a little harder it would be perfect, but I like the size of the meat cubes and the tenderness. The verde and rojo salsa are homemade and complimented the tacos well. I also ordered a small Jamaica, though it didn't taste fresh or home brewed (concentrate?). Unfortunately they didn't have any gorditas left, according to the cashier they often sell out quickly. For a total of 11.50, a fantastic spot on the side of the road with authentic Mexican food.“
