“Truly a Houston gem! I’ve been regularly coming to Under the Volcano for more than 3 years and it never disappoints. The place itself gives you such an authentic feel!! The tacos are excellent specially the Buenos Aires…whoever their cook is I hope they never leave. Beer is great and so are their mixed drinks. The staff is always wanting you to have a nice time. Such a fun place to unwind.“

“Played texas holdem and it was a nice atmosphere. Had to move to the front of the bar because the bartender was talking to the locals the whole time. The waitress was very much nice and always making sure everyone had what they wanted. She is also easy on the eyes 👀“

“HOLY SMOKES! The dinner menu here is AMAZING. We came with friends and tried so many dishes and truly they were all so good, I was blown away. The mashed potatoes are the best I’ve ever had!!! Short rib French fries Short rib grilled cheese Salmon Chicken Caesar family Mac and Cheese Steak with Chimichurri Literally everything was so so good!!! Also the team here is so fun and nice. We have loved coming here for drinks — but I hadn’t come for full dinner until tonight and I think this is going to be a new staple in our date nights!!!! — BUT ALSO THEY HAVE MOVIE NIGHTS FOR KIDS ON WEDNESDAYS!!!“

“We had an amazing experience at Balboa! Starting with the complimentary valet, which was quick and friendly service. The entry to the restaurant was super nice and a great photo opportunity spot. Kyrah took excellent care of us during our visit, and we loved the team style service. It felt like we had a team serving us, and they are so quick and quiet that you can continue to hold conversations and visit but someone is always near if you need anything. Kyrah took special care to "refresh" our cocktail glasses when we finished about half of our drinks, and made excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely amazing. Our table tried the fried shrimp, oysters, spicy ahi tuna roll, crab cake, Post Oak ribeye with pureed potatoes, salmon with the most delicious and unique salad, and heirloom tomatoes. The cocktails were delicious, including the Gold Rush, Rum Dum, and el Guero. The restaurant vibe is romantic but fun and sophisticated and has an open kitchen concept where you can see the food being made if you care to watch. I will most definitely be back and can confidently recommend this place to anyone!“

“It’s was great experience , It’s an excellent food hall/bar, the food selection is an international mix- so many great choices to choose from, not to mention they have great parking!! A must go too and give it a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed. I had the bulgogi rice bowl and the kimchi fries a must try no regrets here lol, from Seoulside Wings and Rice Tried out the dessert strawberry tres leches from Luv ‘em, it was ok it was a little overpriced in my opinion. $8.50 for slice Over all experience was excellent!“

“Very cool, chill, low key vibe place on the river and across the street from some apartment homes that have shingles on the walls. You have that early Houston counterculture feel to it. I go to alot of places for coffee but I feel like this coffee was absolutely spectacular. It had a great taste to it, sharp, not overwhelming, and the caffeine hit when it needed it to. Probably will stop by again if I'm ever in the area.“

“I walked in and asked someone nearby for a menu .He said menus are online rudely and walked off . I stood up there for a few minutes no one came back up to greet me or take my order . As soon as some Caucasian people walk in a man came out back greeted them & seated them all while I was just standing there . I just left respectfully . I was shocked that this place of business only caters to certain races not the African Americans and I normally dine in at the Mexican Restaraunt but I seen that a new spot opened up and I wanted to support . My family has been̈ treated very nice at the Mexican restataunt in the same shopping center everytime we go Customer Service is superb . This Educated African American will happily spend her black dollars where it is appreciated .You all need to take notes on welcoming everyone to your place of business regardless of color .“

“We went last night for my husband’s birthday. While the food was outstanding per usual, the service was deplorable. We waited 40 minutes before our order was taken and just sat with waters. Bread came after appetizers. Kids were completely done with their meals before adults received ours. Difficult experience with two small children. When we first got there, only three other tables had people at them so it wasn’t busy. Definitely expected better service.“

“Such a fun family night experience. The kids sat and played with pizza dough so we could have some parent alone time. Pizza was good and we saw so many other delicious things coming out of the kitchen. Service was great. You get the sense that everyone enjoys where they work.“

There was a slight delay but you have to expect that during the holidays. I have not tried eating in, but I will definitely be going back to enjoy a meal with my family inside“
