Salt City Barbecue is a small, unassuming spot that has gained recognition for its flavorful and tender barbecue dishes. Located inside a food hall near downtown Salt Lake City, it offers a variety of food options, including ribs, brisket, pulled pork, turkey breast, sausage, and pork belly. Many visitors describe the brisket as very flavorful and juicy, with the fatty part being especially rich and melt-in-your-mouth. The ribs are praised for their smoky flavor and fall-off-the-bone tenderness, while the pulled pork and turkey breast are also highly enjoyed for their tenderness and flavor. The sausage is noted for its perfect blend of spices and cheese, and the pork belly melts easily, making it a favorite among many.
Sides like baked beans and potato salad receive positive comments, with some calling the potato salad the best they've ever had. The homemade coleslaw is also highlighted as excellent. Prices vary, with some items like the Carolina BBQ sandwich being particularly appreciated for its balance of flavors and value. Despite some items selling out early, many reviews emphasize that the overall quality and flavor justify the wait and occasional disappointment.
Customers consistently mention the friendly service and the awards the restaurant has received, which reflect its reputation for good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, Salt City Barbecue is highly recommended for those seeking flavorful, tender barbecue with a variety of options in a casual setting.
