“A go-to Italian spot in NoVA! Although their menu is small, I've enjoyed a lot of what they have to offer!

Bread - Complimentary and comes with EVOO. Bread was soft and spongey with a salty exterior.

Caesar Salad - Love that they use big lettuce leaves and not the basid shredded stuff! Dressing is light with a vibrant lemon flavor. Would order again.

Rigatoni - Comforting meaty sauce with huge pieces of pasta. A little heavy handed on the parsley, but would order again.

Lasagna (special) - Vibrant tomato-y meat sauce. Simple, but good.

Ziti - Their vodka sauce is a bit too spicy for a mild person like myself. For better depths of flavor, consider the other pastas on the menu.

Olive Oil Cake - Good choice for those with a sweet and savory palette. The golden raisin marmellata adds a sweet note, that coupled with the creme fraiche, balanced out the strong olive oil flavor. Interesting, but I liked it and would order it again.

Eggnog Tapioca Pudding - Unique take on tapioca pudding. Liked the crispy bits but was expecting something thicker in consistency.

Warm Gingerbread Cake - Rich, decadent and delicious! Reminded me of a slightly cake-ier version of sticky toffee pudding--tried to savor every bite, but it did not last long! Sad it's a seasonal item.

Black Forest Tiramisu - Exactly how it's described in the name.. a tiramisu version of Black Forest cake. Good, but the ginger bread cake is better.“

“As part of the US Army, I was sustained in Italy many years ago. I have struggled until now to find quality, amazing tasting Italian food. Mamma's Kitchen in Alexandria surpassed all expectations. Every course of the meal was just what you would expect when dining in Italy. Thanks for the great experience and for the memories it brought back.“

“Il Porto was amazing! We needed to arrange a luncheon after my mother’s funeral and they were fantastic! We only had two day’s notice. They were so accommodating and helpful. “I ordered a special dish that was not in the menu and I was surprised to experience a restaurant that will cater to what I want to eat. The squid alla marinara pasta sautéed perfectly blended with the right spices and herbs. I tasted basil and it was minty and really satisfied my appetite. Thank you for the extra freshly made bread, salad with the special house sauce + the tiramisu for the dessert. This is my second time to visit this restaurant and I will surely come back the next time we are in the neighborhood. Grazie!!!“

From the moment we were seated, Vaughn went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. He was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and genuinely cared about making our meal enjoyable. This was our first time at The Farmhouse and Vaughn deserves recognition for making our visit memorable. I would absolutely recommend asking for him if you want top-notch service. “Greek pizza is excellent and Maggio’s Stromboli was perfect. Both items were full of ingredients.
My only complaint would be, I’m not used to it in today’s world, someone beside us was smoking a cigarette and we’re not used to that. So the smoke was a bit much.“

The food has always been delicious , my favorite is the Tuscan Chicken. The bar menu up stairs- Martini's are absolutely fabulous. I look for this to be my hangout meeting spots for business. “Ok so it is my first time ordering from here..saw a video on instagram of the food and I was sold. So today I finally ordered for my food to be delivered. Now why the delivery person give me someone else’s order, wrong name and wrong food. I don’t eat shrimp and I was dreaming about that pasta video. Nevertheless, I contacted the driver immediately and the store. Rusty was so kind and understanding of the mistake the delivery person did and we resolved the mistake of the driver. Well on round 2 my food was delivered and it was what I ordered and it was everything my mouth thought it would be. It was good and even a lil note on it which provided a personal touch and the customer service and besides the food is the reason they are now my GoTo for pasta and stuff. “Trattoria Da Franco is our go to place for Italian food when we have guests in from out of town. The food is excellent and the service is top notch. A favorite appetizer is the Mozzarella in Carozza. Although the specials sounded fantastic, I went with my favorite, Bucatini Carbonara. My wife had the veal saltimbocca and our friend chose the Penne Quattro Formaggi. We capped it off with a cannoli for dessert. All in all, a fantastic experience.“

“New Mosaic location just opened and it’s great. The pizza is fantastic, actually cooked with some nice crisp and char like the northern pizza snob in me likes. I also had a chicken parm sub that was fantastic. Haven’t tried the cold subs yet but there’s always tomorrow hah. The location is great on the bend of District Ave looking out down the street and they smartly installed a retractable front wall that can be opened for open air on nice days/evenings (or if Covid decides to play some more games here in the future). Also some select patio seating which is nice as well!“

“This cozy, family-owned bistro in Old Town Alexandria specializes in authentic Greek & Mediterranean dishes with Italian influences. I visited on a slow Sunday evening, and the staff was very polite and prompt in bringing drinks and taking the orders.

Each table is provided water, bread, and olive oil for dipping. The entree I chose is a Baked Moussaka, and my friend the Chicken Souvlaki Platter. Both meals were prepared and served in a timely manner. The food was fresh with quality ingredients. The Moussaka had a mixture of potato with the sirloin which made an interesting spin on a traditional lasagna dish. The chicken on the platter was juicy and tender.

The meal was in the mid-twenties in price which seems typical for this type of restaurant. The portions being a little smaller than I'd like for the price, but not disappointing. I believe this is an ideal place for a lunch or dinner date, especially if you are looking for authentic Greek cuisine.“
