His thoughtful recommendations, warm demeanor, and perfectly timed attentiveness made for an unforgettable evening. As fans of Persian cuisine and frequent shoppers at Yekta Market in Rockville— having recently tried our hand at making Persian dishes like Fesenjan at home— coupled with all of the culinary accolades— we had high expectations for JOON. It not only met but exceeded them. Mast-o Musir, yogurt dish with Persian dried shallot and rose petal, was exceptional— more elevated and nuanced than any we’ve had. The mushroom Khoresht stew with white truffle was another highlight, offering perfectly balanced flavors something hard to do with white truffles and a satisfying richness, complemented by the perfectly crunchy Tahdig, iconic golden rice crust. The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

“Food was delicious and cooked to perfection 👌. Waitress recommendations and service was top notch! Managers were knowledgeable and pleasant. Music and ambiance pleasing for our 15th wedding anniversary. Dessert 🍨 was a special added bonus. Truly thankful and grateful for our experience.“

“The Parthenon is my go-to local restaurant for dining outdoors or inside at the bar. I love the wide range of dishes, from vegetarian Greek dishes to very reasonably priced gyro plates with tzatziki, salad, and fries. The cold mezze plate is great and the swordfish is superb. Don't miss the crabcakes which I think are the best in DC -- all crabmeat, no breadcrumbs, and delicious taste. When I want a treat I get a dinner with one crabcake and one soft shell crab. The Greek wines are very good and reasonably priced. I love the fact the restaurant is family owned and run, and the staff is very attentive and friendly.“

The service was excellent and the cafe was not busy so it was very quiet, although it did get busier as we ate, but the noise level was still fairly quiet. “Overall, the food was good, but there were a few areas that could have been better. The duck was very different from what we expected. We initially thought it would be a whole duck served with lavender, but it arrived as just two slices per person. While I appreciate the time and effort that goes into preparing the dish, I think the menu should provide a clearer description of what guests will actually receive. The flavor was also quite strong, even for someone who enjoys duck.

The service was less attentive than expected, and since we were celebrating a birthday, we were hoping for a little more acknowledgment. The restaurant did provide a birthday card, which was a nice gesture, but there was nothing else special for the occasion.

On the positive side, I really enjoyed the salad and the side dishes we ordered. Overall, it was a good dining experience, but the food presentation, service, and birthday experience could have been better.“

“Nice spot to sit back and watch a game or chat with friends while having a few drinks and a well-refreshed hookah. Bar staff has always been kind and accomodating, owners are very kind folks and do rounds to check on everyone whenever they are in, shows good care for their business.“

“Thank you so much for making my once in a year experience amazing my girlfriend and I have been dating for two years now we always go on our anniversary. We just went Saturday, September 12. Thank you so much for the complementary dessert as well. The hemisphere is always great and don't get me started on the food. It is amazing if you haven't tried the salmon it is so good. Oh also, I even got me an alcoholic beverage. I asked a waiter I believe his Alberto if he could make me a Coke rum and they surpassed my taste buds the Coke and rum was amazing.“
