“What a great place! Yes it might be hard to find but that is part of the charm. I have eaten in restaurants with James Beard award winning chefs and multiple stars but this dinner went beyond my expectations. Yes you need reservations. Yes the place is full but I never felt rushed (like they were anxious to turn the table). What they did to a humble carrot dish left me wanting to be a vegetarian!!! However their beef tartare made be rejoice that I wasn’t!! Micha has to be a magical bartender, don’t hesitate to simply tell the waitstaff your flavor profile and left him work his magic. I must return to Cville if for no other reason than to enjoy another heavenly dinner.“
“Another gourmet dinner and pleasant experience. We split the scallops starter, steak Nicoise with sides of beets and mushrooms. All were cooked perfectly with interesting sauces and flavors(like horseradish sauce cream sauce on the beets). Our friends came to C&O for the first time and loved it.“
“This restaurant exceeded our expectations! Our daughter was doing a college visit at UVA and we decided to walk around a bit on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Found this place along the way and decided to grab lunch. Hubby and I ordered the beet/arugula salad, the lamb merguez kale white bean soup, and the trout with green beans. This was more than enough for us to share. The salad was perfect for us - not heavily dressed, which allowed the goat cheese, oranges and beets to shine. The soup was fantastic - well proportioned with the right mix of kale, beans and sausage. I loved that the merguez sausage were meatball-like. The trout was fantastic - the skin was crisp and cooked perfectly (my favorite part), along with the green beans. The almonds, garlic and capers gave it the extra umph. My only critique is there was more butter than I prefer, but we were having lunch at a French restaurant. I cannot forget to mention the cocktails. Hubby's Mezcalita was delicious. My Spicy Compassion was perfect- not too spicy (if you like habaneros, you'll be fine. If you think black pepper is spicy, have a glass of milk ready) and passionfruit forward. If our daughter gets accepted to UVA, we'll definitely be back!“
“My wife and I stopped in Cafe Frank last night after a movie. We had two small plates and shared an order of mussels. All prepared very well. The frito mixto was perfectly and very lightly fried. The Caesar salad was perfect. We had a young, helpful waitperson who told us the name of the restaurant is pronounced “cafe Frank”and not “cafe Fraunk.” Frank is a stuffed rooster perched above the bar.“
“I never got to try Bizou while I attended UVA, so when my friend and I went back for a visit, this was high on our list to try! The atmosphere inside is a little bit dim and not super spacious, but it's a nice place for a date or a higher end dinner. We both got a drink and I got the pan seared salmon. We both enjoyed our dishes and drinks, just nothing super extraordinary. Our service was just fine as well and the prices were about what we'd expect for downtown Charlottesville.“
“We had an excellent experience with our waiter, Leandro, providing us with exceptional service. The beef carpaccio appetizer, roasted halibut main course, and apple crisp dessert were spot on delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. It was a wonderful night out!“
“Exceptional food and service. The wine pairings were incredible. The portions are good size for the starters, entrees, and desserts. Very interesting dishes and bonus dishes prepared by the Chef. By far the best restaurant I have been to in Charlottesville.“
