The Good Sport Reviews
Had a great dinner and amazing cocktails made with care and sophistication - no heavy syrup which I find so often at other establishments. Randy and Dante provided excellent service and went out of their way to make our experience special. Will definitely be back!
Stopped into The Good Sport at the Kimpton in Charlottesville and it absolutely delivered. The vibe is intimate and polished but still relaxed, the kind of place you settle into and do not rush.
The hazelnut old fashioned was rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced with just the right hint of nuttiness without overpowering the bourbon. And the espresso martini was silky, bold, and beautifully finished, the kind that actually tastes like real espresso and not just sweetness.

The Good Sport, situated in a beautiful hotel, provides a lively atmosphere, particularly during big game weekends. While the music and noise level can be bothersome, the setting remains very nice. The staff, from valet to waitress, is friendly and efficient, with hard-working individuals like Taylor, the hostess/manager, who is energetic and personable, and Zarny, the bartender, who is also friendly and efficient. Popular dishes include Bavarian pretzels, brisket sliders, curry chicken salad, cobb salad, and the smash burger with tasty waffle fries. However, the menu has been noted as limiting, with just salads and sandwiches, which some feel cuts out potential dinner reservations. While the smash burgers were praised as really good, there have been comments about slow service and a need for more TVs, ensuring everyone can see a TV in the sports restaurant/bar. Overall, the food is very good, and they offer gluten-free bread for their sandwiches and burgers, though there have been some challenges in splitting bills.
