“I recently had the BEST SALAD of my life at Bizou (the roasted beet, mango + goat cheese salad!) It was a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon in summer, sitting in the lovely shade of a patio umbrella, a chilled glass of Virginia-made Rose wine…. A quintessential Charlottesville experience. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend!“

“By happenstance, my partner and I went into CrushPad to cap the night. We enjoyed Chardonnay and the Riesling. I’m no sommelier but the Riesling was crisp and refreshing. The Chardonnay was incredibly smooth and balanced on the palate. The waiter was great but the chef Fredrick was incredible. He made us the most delectable pasta that was homemade and like no other. It paired perfectly with our wine. He also made a rich chocolate and raspberry desert.“

“Highly recommend this restaurant! The house salad was the best salad I’d ever had. The cocktails are wonderful; the tender even accommodated my special request. The entrees were sumptuous; we got the Italian sausage pasta and the salmon. We travel through Charlottesville twice a year and dine here on our way up and back each year. It’s my favorite part of our trip. Service is excellent.“

Birch & Bloom Wine Bars • $$
540 Massie Rd, Charlottesville

“The gem salad and carrot salad were excellent starters and the Vegan Vorbet and Pot Au Creme were a excellent way to start and finish the meal. The justification for a 4/5 rather than 5/5 would be the main course. The $72 New York strip is significantly overpriced for the quality. It could be an anomaly, but the Chef should do a review of the beef supplier.“

Tastings of Charlottesville Wine Bars • $$$
502 E Market St, Charlottesville

“If you're a wine nerd this is your Shangri-la! We had a great visit at Tastings while in Charlottesville for the weekend. Bill is an excellent proprietor. The selection of wines and vintages were awesome to sort through, and we had some great conversations with Bill and other customers while we were there. The shop makes you feel like you're hunting for buried treasure, and we definitely found some awesome vintaged wines. I can't wait to come back for my next visit!“
