“Just moved to Virginia & decided to check out this bagel shop. Their bagels are fresh. I’ve tried the nova lox which was delicious also a classic plain cream cheese with poppy seed bagel and a ham, egg and cheese on an egg bagel. All were delicious. My new favorite place. Service was great friendly and quick.“

“Wow. Incredibly impressed with this place. The coffee tasted amazing. The latte was fantastic (get the vanilla cream) with a perfect amount of foam on top. The Nutella acma and the egg sandwich were a perfect start to the day. And everything reasonably priced. Better than reasonable- I haven’t seen a $5 breakfast sandwich in years. And a flavored latte under $5 is almost unheard of. Bathroom was clean. This place was great and I can’t wait to go back.“

“I've been coming here since 2021, and something has definitely changed recently.

The only way I can describe it is that the bagels seem to have lost their soul.

They used to be crisp on the outside, airy on the inside, and just imperfect enough in size and shape to feel genuinely handmade. Those little variations were part of their charm.

Now, they taste more processed and mass-produced. Every bagel looks and tastes exactly the same, which reminds me more of a chain sandwich shop than the distinctive bagels that originally made me a loyal customer.

The service is still excellent, the store remains welcoming, and I even like the newer logo.

But I genuinely miss the old-style bagels. If possible, I'd love to see a return to the baking approach that made them stand out in the first place.“

“Long time lover of Call Your Mother ever since I lived in DC, and very excited it is in Reston! However, while theyre usually on point about getting food orders correct, getting the right drink feels like a crapshoot. Three times in the last 5 months I've ordered a matcha latte and just gotten a regular coffee latte, and a separate time they forgot to finish my husband's coffee until i reminded them the cup was just sitting there. Very nice people but I have never had any other place be this chaotic with drink orders so I cannot give more than three stars.

“The food here is really good, and my kids love it, so we come here pretty regularly. I’d definitely recommend the food. The prices are on the higher side for a bagel shop, even for Ashburn, but that’s not really my issue.

The one thing I think could really improve is the customer service from the owners. The ladies who are usually making the food are always friendly, smiling, and upbeat. Once your order is ready, they bring it out, call your number, and hand it to you, and they’re always pleasant and moving around taking care of everyone.

The gentleman who is usually at the register is almost the complete opposite. He rarely smiles, doesn’t really engage with customers, and even when you say thank you or try to be friendly on the way out, you usually get very little response. The woman who I believe is also an owner is a little more personable, but overall there just doesn’t seem to be much effort from either of them to make customers feel welcomed or appreciated.

I grew up in the restaurant and hospitality business, and something as simple as smiling, saying hello, or acknowledging a regular customer goes a long way. The food is already good, and the rest of the staff does a great job, so I honestly think just a little more effort from the owners on that side would make the experience a lot better.

One other tip if you’re ordering: if you want something specific like a ham, egg and cheese or sausage, egg and cheese, I’ve found it’s better to just tell them exactly what you want on the sandwich rather than ordering one of the named sandwiches off the board. A few times I’ve ordered by the name and ended up with different or extra meat on it. I’m definitely not complaining about getting extra food, but if you want something specific, just spelling out exactly what you want seems to work better.“

“Matin and their manager (I think?) made my morning! They were so sweet and even gave me an extra bagel on the house! I usually don’t come out this way but I stopped on my way to church from Aldie, VA and I couldn’t be happier with the service. Great, speedy service with a smile!“
