“June 2024: Yummy sushi in not too crowded Great Falls, VA. The tempura dinner came with miso soup and rice. Rate that platter an 8/10. Ordered 4 rolls, the spicy tuna roll being the best. Overall also 8/10. Nice dining room and pretty good service. See pics.“

“I visited this spot for the first time for my nephew's birthday. This is the best sushi I've had in DC. Everything on the menu is on another level. The freshness of the fish is evident from the first bite. Highly recommend the chef's island. The sea bream was also fantastic. The quaint ambience and dedicated staff makes this my new favorite sushi spot. It really is phenomenal.“

“Terrific quality, some unusual and tasty preparations I've not seen elsewhere. Some of the best I've had in the entire area.

Intimate and peaceful space, a place at which I'd like to be a regular. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered individual pieces, leaning toward specials on the blackboard and what the chef suggested (e.g., Japanese Red Snapper, Hamachi belly). The stars of the evening, IMHO were the house-smoked mackeral (the smoke went really well), seared scallop (wonderfully delicate texture of the fish, a creative slicing/presentation technique, and a new dimension to the flavor from the sear), and the seared Oh Toro (fatty tuna, scored and seared giving it an absurdly meaty taste -- and very different from the unseared Oh Toro we had to compare).

Definitely looking forward to going back.

Update 8 years later, 2024: Still outstanding, and the "Calamari Pasta" blew me away: cooked tentacles topped with a quail yolk, with uni underneath and -- surprise! -- a truffle. I can't recommend this dish enough.“

“A little slice of Japan. Since leaving a few years ago I have been missing Japan. This place took me right back. Sushi, ramen takoyaki, everything was perfect and delicious. Kids chopsticks so my littles can practice. We will go back.

Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating for my children who were reasonably well-behaved as they were very excited for this special treat.“

“Loved the food and service at Fujisan. Everything was beautifully plated and there were definitely creative items on the menu. My favorites were the seared salmon belly, Ishiyaki where they cook the beef on the hot iron stone, wagyu uni (simply gorgeous and delicious), sushi tacos, and salmon volcano rice. Yakitori platter was great because we had a variety of tastings. The mushrooms and pork belly were my fav! My friends ordered the soup dobin mushi which comes in the cutest tea pot. If you want something beautiful yet the Fujisan box deluxe. Never seen anything like it, so colorful and lots of fresh raw fish, eel, fish egg, etc. Nice to have something different than your typical sushi boat. The ambiance is really nice too. Very beautifully designed with blues and golds. Very classy. The sushi was very fresh I find that some places don’t have fresh cold fish how it should be so I’m glad this place did not disappoint. As for desserts the green tea mochi, tempura ice cream, and cheesecake were amazing. Personal favorite is cheesecake. Highly recommend!“

“Good quality dishes. I especially found the small plates to be excellent, which are what I most strongly recommend, such as: sake and green grapes, spicy cucumbers, and the duroc pork belly bun. The sushi itself is good quality that is on par with other well-rated sushi places in the area.“

“I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. The staff was very friendly and courteous, and the food was excellent! I highly recommend their white tuna rolls and bento boxes. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very pleasant and somewhat traditional, which in my book is a big plus.

This has definitely become a favorite spot for my girlfriend and I to eat at. I wish I could find more japanese restaurants like Yiku.

Parking: The spots near the shopping mart are pretty full, but the spots closest to Yiku usually have some openings.“

“I was back in the area temporarily and I had to come back here to get lunch. The menu here is extensive the food tastes amazing and the staff is always friendly and respectful and they made it through covid by adapting and meeting the needs of their customers. Go here.“
