“Treated my cousin to Sweet Ginger for his birthday and we were both amazed by the quality and quantity of food we received for the price paid. We made it easy for our patient and attentive waiter by ordering two Thai iced tea and the Bento Box A with beef teriyaki. Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection. Starting with the Thai iced tea; which was almost like a dessert. So smooth and sweet! It complimented the meal. The miso soup was comforting and had a balanced ratio of broth, tofu, greens, and green onion. The salad was fresh, crisp, and dressed with a rich and tasty peanut dressing. Of course, the highlight of our meal was the incredible bento boxes. The tempura shrimp and vegetables were my favorite. They were breaded to ideal crispiness and paired well with the soy dipping sauce. The vegetables were one big broccoli floret and large sliced carrot and zucchini medallions. The teriyaki steak was scrumptious, served on a bed of cabbage slaw with a generous amount of sauce. There was enough for me to dip other box components into, like the California rolls, tofu, and the Japanese dumpling. We dusted off everything. Not even the leftover salad dressing remained because we drank it all up! The whole experience was so much fun and we had a blast. Can't wait to go back. We left feeling satisfied and can add this to our list of happy memories!“
“Their sashimi and rolls are delicious and super fresh every time I visit (and I've come pretty often haha). I especially love their tako wasabi...but everything is fantastic! I have brought a lot of family and friends here and they all loved it here and thought the same - food is very fresh, amazing quality, and everything is very very tasty! The restaurant is also very modern, chic, and always very clean as well! The owners, chefs, manager, and servers are all amazing! Every time I go they are always very welcoming and attentive. Shout out to Kai who always goes above and beyond! The only downside is that parking is limited but that's not under their control! :)This restaurant really is a fantastic addition to the DMV area! ?“
“Our server was very patient and kind in explaining the menu and assisting us with making the shabu. It was my first time and it was honestly very filling. I would not recommend the cherry blossom cocktail, tastes a bit like medicine. But the other folks i was with had the japanese beer and they really enjoyed “
“Great food and service as always. This is imo the best Gyu place in dmv. Beef tongue and short ribs are phenomenal! Every beef we ordered is top notch quality, very juicy and tender. We love the tuna salmon yukke appetizer too!Remember to reserve in advance, gets pretty crowded during peak hours.“
“I order takeout from this restaurant at least once a month if not more. Food is absolutely spectacular and I have a bit of a customized diet and they always seem to make me absolutely delicious vegetarian dishes. Best asian inspired Restaurant in the area. Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: Typically they will create whatever I request, and it always turns out delicious“
“My daughter, son-in-law, grandson and I came here for an early supper. I started with nice miso soup and my son-in-law had a great seaweed salad. We then enjoyed a variety of sushi & sashimi, while my grandson had the chicken katsu. The service was quick & friendly. The layout of the restaurant reminds me very much of some of my favorite little places in Osaka. A bit on the pricey side, which is typical of this genre.“
“The best sushi in the dmv by far for the price. The people that run this place are so amazing and kind. The sushi is made out of amazing cuts of fish that are fresh and they are generous with their portions.I’ve eaten at multiple Michelin star sushi restaurants and this sushi rivals that, they really know their sushi. They’ve always been super friendly and accommodating. Treat yourself and support a family owned small business!!“
“If you’re wondering where to eat tonight, be sure to check out the local neighborhood, quaint Japanese restaurant that has authentic Japanese food and sushi. The owner/employees are friendly and efficient, serving you quickly and offering suggestions on the menus. The food is quickly served and is delicious. We’ve had Don Buri, Katsu, sushi, and tempura. Crisp & tasty each dish was loaded with flavor! I would suggest getting a dinner box so that you have a good variety of food and plenty of it!Plenty of parking as there is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant which is found within the Walmart plaza. Both kid and dog friendly.Kid-friendliness: Room for strollers or high chairs with welcoming staff.“
“The sushi here is excellent. I wish the prices were a touch lower (the party tray used to be $40 only a couple years ago, not $50), not everything needs to go up 25% in price. But I was still very happy with the sushi platter. The Ramen was just meh. I probably won't get the Tonkatsu Ramen again. But I will definitely be back for another sushi platter! Best around for pure sushi and nigiri!“
“Beautiful interior!Price is on the expensive side, but I definitely think the food is worth the money.Their speciality menu is the Yakitori Platter, which is think is pretty good but I didn’t really like the roasted peppers, i honestly would rather just order everything else on the combo and add on something else other than the pepper. ?️Their spicy miso ramen had so much chili Oil that all I could taste was the chili oil and no miso. I’ll give it another try but my reviews stay at 4 due to this.“
“This restaurant is the BEST Thai restaurant in all of Fairfax. And I have had tried almost every Thai restaurant in the area. Their pad Thai is perfection, and their sushi is so beautiful it almost pains me to eat it because it's so beautiful but it's DELICIOUS. They also have great customer service and had our order ready quick and efficiently.“
“Ive been there a few times. I really enjoy the food and the staff is close to perfect imo. As always dinner for 2 is between 60 and 100 bucks which is fairly affordable for the quality if sushi and the other dishes. The tofu appetizer was much better than I expected. The tofu literally fell apart ... soft on the inside but with a very nice crust outside. And the sauce was superb! I look forward to my next visit.“
“Had Sushi Koji for the first time, based on lots of positive reviews. Didn't take any pictures because as soon as I opened the container the smell made me want to stuff my face. The fish was so fresh, it was delightful. Will definitely return!“
“The food is always good and service is prompt but the hostess wasextremely rude and didn't even pay attention to us for 15 minutes while we were standing there. Although our reservation was madeahead of time she didn't even bother to ask my name and the reservation time. Her manner ruined our evening although the foodwas good. We are not going to go back there again.“
“Awesome find while in town for work! Everything was amazing - apps and meal. I will definitely be back. The only issue I had was the sushi was advertised as an 8 piece roll and it came out with 6 instead. Unsure if that is always the case. Regardless, still very delicious food!“
“Super good! Everything game very fast. We had an appetizer of tuna sushi & the tuna was melt in your mouth. Delicious! I got the Teriyaki chicken dinner box - it is a ton of food! The teriyaki sauce was great. My fiancé got the hibachi chicken + a sushi roll, he enjoyed his food as well. If we were local, we could be frequently headed here. Next time we're in town, definitely stopping by.“
“I don’t usually leave a review about my dining experiences but I feel that I must share about the amazing dinner me and my work colleagues had at passion fish. We made reservations last minute and actually almost decided to go to Morton’s because one of our colleagues had been there many times and said the service was great and not so great at passion fish. But we decided to keep our reservation and go with the original plan. And I’m glad we did! The restaurant is beautiful with an open floor plan and just feels very welcoming. Once we sat at our table we can see that they were busy and our server came over immediately and greeted us . Daniel was very friendly and hospitable and recommended some drinks which 2 of us decided to try. It did take long for us to get our drinks and water to our table but I can see that our server was busy and had many tables besides us. What was off setting to us was that there was what appear to be 2 managers just standing by the kitchen just staring at us and our server not really offering any help to their staff . SHAME ON YOU!!!! I can see that our waiter was moving as fast as he could. Once we got our drinks it all went perfectly. Daniel recommended appetizers and entrees which we went with and there were AMAZING. I had the Red thai curry lobster and my colleague had the special which Daniel described so well . We didn’t have to ask for anything because our server was always checking on us and made us feel like he was there just for us. After our dinner I thought that the meal was over but once Daniel brought our desert menus and told us about his favorites we decided to try and share the crème brûlée and the bread pudding. OMG!!! So good. I have to say it was such an amazing experience. The food was great but the service was special and that why I will be definitely going back to dine there.“
“First off it took me forever to figure out that this place was opened...because the open sign is so tiny and not let properly. It wasn't until I walked up to the door and actually looked in I saw the staff and a few other people go inside. Now as many of these places on a strip mall situation it is a tiny space. They definitely made due with the space they had work for them. Nobody will greet up and I learned that the hard way. Because I didn't know how the system worked I just grabbed the form, sat down, marked what I wanted and handed it to the only women that seemed to work there. She asked me was it to go. I was like no...so she then proceeded to take me to a sitting area near the back and gave me a menu.Because I was so hungry and wanted a little bit of everything I opted to finally try the soft shell crab appetizer which was not good at all unfortunately. Tasted really burnt and was very small. I then got the plum wine...very sweet like I remember, tuna roll, Philly roll, spic yellow with cream cheese, and fatty tuna belly. All rolls tasted amazing and fresh so that was a plus for me! By and all I will definitely be back to same other rolls and get more of that cold plum wine...“
“Cool spot for sushi, as well as great Asian fare. We had a variety of dishes that were A+. The salad dressing is hands down the best I have tasted, hands down! I asked to purchase some to go but it was the end of the day land they just gave me a decent amount.I highly recommend this “
“This place depicts a classy restaurant with great service and attention to detail. High quality sushi!!!11/22/22 First time for take out at lunch, presentation and freshness matches the dine in experience. The service never is lacking.03/05/2024 The consistency and quality is maintained which is an attestation to the commitment of the owner and staff. The Omakase is very good as the sushi is fantastically fresh since a supply of succulent fishes are sourced directly from Japan.Ariake yummy, delicious delight indeed, eat sushi weekly“
“A perfect little sushi spot for you and a loved one to visit. All of the sushi is tasty and fairly priced. The servers are very attentive and always ready to assist. We got the 'Queen' which is a sushi spread for two and each piece was fantastic. This also came with a salad and miso soup. Can't wait to go back!!!“
“The food and service were good. It wasn't the best choice we could have made for meeting someone for the first time as it was loud, lively, and busy. It's to be expected for Jackson's; it was poor planning on our part.Parking: There are multiple convenient parking garages - free after 4 and validated by Jackson's the rest of the time.“
“This is a family establishment where that work together as a team. When we come in, we are greeted as my friend. The dining room is spotless. There are about 10-12 tables. I have tried everything from the sushi, hibachi, soup, salad, and Japanese beer Sapporo. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. The husband tried to teach mone hoe to use the chopsticks. Lovely place with really good food. They are closed on Tuesdays. Prices are reasonable and portions are good. Give them a try. I'll post more photos soon.“
“TL;DR: solid sushi spot with great service!Been here a couple times now, and really enjoyed both times. Solid sushi, roll, and appetizer options.Interior gives off date night vibes and is very cute. Service was very nice and attentive.FOOD:~Miso Soup (5/5): I don't usually rate the soup, but their miso soup was better than most! Full of flavor and came out piping hot, which I loved~Salad (3/5): basic salad with a sesame dressing~Uni Sampler (4/5): came with California, Maine, and Japanese Uni. Comes with a decent amount and can't go wrong with uni~Scallop carpaccio (3.3/5): While it was tasty, the sauce on top was overpowering and could not taste much of the scallop~Dragon Roll (5/5): Omg idk if they make their eel sauce in house, but it was so good! The eel, itself, was also so delicious and tender. Love that the inside of the roll was salmon/tuna/tobiko, unlike most dragon rolls~Sushi Deluxe (3.8/5): came with a good variety of nigiri and a spicy tuna roll (3/5)~Sashimi Deluxe (4/5): Came with 5 different types of fish, and was freshIn the past, we did try the taste of Umi and it was really good, but not good for sharing! Very solid sushi spot and worth visiting!“
“My friend and I were looking for a Japanese spot in the area and found this one and I am so glad we did! The food was delicious, the vibe was nice (good music), the service was fast and the waiter was friendly and accommodating to my friends' dietary restrictions and my food allergies. We paid a little over $100 total for both of our orders (3 starters, 2 custom rolls, 1 specialty roll + nigiri and 1 cocktail). We loved it and would definitely go back.“
“Nice vibe and kid friendly. The lunch bento and dinner boxes are amazing. Sushi is great. The manager even brought us a sample to try.Kid-friendliness: They don't have a kids menu bot the lunch and dinner boxes are so big they can be easily shared.“
“Matsutake is sort of a hidden gem, sitting in a converted fast-food restaurant in a small mall just off Reston Parkway. There are a number of decent restaurants in such locations and this is the only one where the designers have managed to completely banish the sterile fast food feel - it's a lovely place where you can relax and enjoy. As others have said the food is very good - although at the top end of my personal price range. The cocktail menu is particularly notable, consisting of truly unique drinks invented and whimsically named by the bartender. Don't let the goofy names dissuade you - they are excellent. And if you have ever wondered whether there's such a thing as Japanese craft beer, yes there is and they have several. My only quibble is that the owners seem spread a bit thin. Sometimes the bartender is not there on weekdays. Sometimes the service is wonderful and friendly, other times not so much. So consistency is the last box they have to check. Based on about a dozen visits they have far more good nights than bad nights, but at the relatively high price point this should not be a worry for the diner.“
“This place is worth the trip from wherever u are. My husband & I live in NJ & visit our grandson in NOVA regularly. Just found Mari & it will be our go to sushi restaurant whenever we visit: quality fish, fresh wasabi, homemade tamago & friendly, attentive service.“
“Sushi Yama has been my go-to sushi spot for quite some time now, especially since the decline of Sushi Yoshi a few years back. Their commitment to quality at reasonable prices has truly made them a staple in our town's dining scene. While Sushi Cho offers another alternative, I'll review that separately. One minor drawback has been the wait times for takeout orders, which used to be unrealistically long. However, I've noticed a significant improvement in this area recently, perhaps due to increased competition.Notably, Sushi Yama has recently introduced a new online ordering format, albeit with a nominal processing fee of a buck or two. While some may find this a minor inconvenience, I see it as a small price to pay for the convenience and efficiency it brings.Overall, Sushi Yama continues to impress with its consistent quality, reasonable prices, and efforts to enhance customer experience. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, you can count on Sushi Yama to deliver delicious sushi that satisfies every craving. It's definitely a must-visit spot in our town for any sushi enthusiast.“
“This place is so good! The presentation is gorgeous, service is great, and the portions were large. Best sushi I have had outside of a Michelin-starred omakase experience. I almost can’t believe that there is sushi this good in a grocery store food court, but I’m glad there is!“
“My family has been coming to this place before we had our child, more than 10 years. Among our favorites: Curry Udon, Tonkatsu, tempura and all the ramens. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It makes me feel like I’m back eating in Japan.Kid-friendliness: Easy menu options and seating area. Staff is very accommodating.“
“What a great little spot! The value of this place is amazing- if you go for lunch you get edamame spring rolls and a little dessert on the house with an already incredible sushi deal- don’t miss this spot! It’s refreshing to see a place that takes hospitality to the next level and deliver exceptional value.“
“Yido is tucked away behind an office building off of Route 7, so it's not the easiest to see from the street. There isn't too much seating, but I went during a quiet time, so there was no issue. They've got this really nice sushi combo for lunch (3 rolls for $16) that my friends and I took advantage of. My favorite roll was the salmon skin roll, which was seasoned very well.I also got a beef ramen, which was pretty good.Overall, a good spot worth checking out! Pricing is fair too.“
“Best poke ever! I have had poke coast to coast, and even in Hawaii but this place is hands down the best. Their poke salmon is build my way but everything I’ve had so far has been excellent. Their wild Buddha bowl is a great option for vegans/vegetarians, or if you can’t have raw seafood.Food is always fresh and ready promptly when I order for pickup. Clean atmosphere, although the order kiosks might not be for everyone. Price is competitive with other poke places while the quality and flavors are a cut above.“
“Great place. They can do gluten free but the list of ingredients with gluten is not easy to find unless you ask; it's posted on the wall behind the counter. Unfortunately, that's far enough that you have to run back and forth between there and the terminals as you put together your order. Beware as you choose a seasoned protein; otherwise most ingredients are gluten free. I'm posting the list here as a photo.Quality and quantity of food were great. Servers really nice.“
“I really like the food here, especially the bulgogi and chicken teriyaki boxes. The complimentary sides you get with the box are quite refreshing, especially the kimchi, which I ended up finishing in one bite. The meats here are quite succulent, and I love how the juices drip onto the rice to create this popping, umami flavor. Green tea here was a nice refresher to satisfy my hunger.“
“WOW! ? Overall, I’d give it 10 stars if I could, we were treated so well and our host was very attentive & sweet. Definitely a treasure in Vienna. Food was excellent! We had the pork and beef ramen, it’s all in the broth - rich and delicious and not over seasoned/salted - I prefer the rich bone flavor to compliment the other ingredients. Great presentation! Rolls were tasty and simple, not drowned in sauce so the flavor of the ingredients stand out, love it. We got the Philly Roll, Dream Roll and warm Shrimp Tempura (we hadn’t had one warmed before and really like it this way). We also had the Gyoza perfectly crisped and tasty. Cheesecake with a hint of floral notes although we thought it was plain cheesecake, nice surprise. My new place, can’t wait to go back! We stopped in here after a bike ride on the trail and warmed & stuffed our bellies and got more than we expected with such a warm welcome! Thanks, Yama Chen ?♥️“
“Great food and great value ! Such a cute little space too.Edit: over the last few years, I have come here every few months and bring family and friends as well. I was in again last night and I love when the owner comes over to the table and talks about Taiwan. She remembers me every time she sees me and truly makes this place my favorite restaurant.“
“We were treated exceptionally well as soon as we entered the building. The kindness of our waitress went far beyond a casual dining service. The effort she put into making our experience feel comfortable and welcoming was well deserving of my time and pleasure. Thank you so much for the kindness you showed us tonight.?“
“Tempura is excellent . I had the steak deluxe bento and daughter got the chicken. We share the shrimp and vegetable tempura which was excellent but the dipping sauce was very small .I think my daughter’s chicken was better than my steak which was a tad chewy. I didn’t get hot mustard with my spring roll which made its bit bland. Wasabi portion was so small that I could not even taste it. The food was typical for this price point, but the 45 minutes drive puts it too far out for a repeat visit.“
“Ok, I didn't actually eat here. My daughter accidentally ordered takeout from this restaurant instead of our local sushi restaurant.By the time we realized the mistake they had already prepared the entire order. We called them, and the manager graciously refunded the entire amount. So I can't comment on the quality of the food, but I can say that any restaurant that would be kind enough to do that (they didn't have to) is probably a great place to eat.“
“I have been coming to Koi Koi since they opened seventeen years ago. In all this time I never had a bad experience here. The food is fresh and amazing. The staff is friendly and officiant. Very welcoming and warmKid-friendliness: Extremely family oriented“
“When I choose the JP or Korean restaurant, I would like to try side dishes. I order Yoko salad, Takoyaki, Mango Salmon roll, and Fish Katsu. What I can say is I will come back again and again. The Fish Katsu (Fried fish) is the best fried fish I have had in my life besides my Mum’s cooking lol, not oily, thin and crispy flour, fresh, and delicious. I have been thinking of Takoyaki from the restaurant in Thailand, however this one nailed it lol. The salad dressing is beyond. Mango Salmon roll is creative. The Korean tea is perfect fit after the meal. Kamsahamnida for making such a great restaurant. We live in DC. 1.5 hours traveling to have a meal here is worth it.The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we opened the door.“
