“This place is pure perfection. We ate our Saint Patrick's day brunch here and words cannot describe how talented the chefs, how amazing the service is and how wonderful the ambiance is. The chefs prepare and serve the food with perfection. This place has achieved perfection. Very impressed...Big Air Dave has spoken...”
“This was the perfect winery after our hike in Shenandoah national park. I don’t usually enjoy all of the wines from tastings I get at other wineries but every wine I tasted here was great!!! The views were also exceptional and Crystal, the wine pourer was THE BEST. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely be coming back!!”
“Exceptional lunch & service..I had Shrimp & Grits. Delicious & definitely one of best I've had anywhere. My friend had the upscale deviled eggs & Swordfish App..Absolutely Lovely atmosphere & decor! . The Bakery! filled with great desserts & breads!”
“This is such a cozy little restaurant! The service was impeccable! The food was amazing, I personally had the tuna burger and it was superb! Such a great atmosphere to be in, and a little step away from chaos. Great decor, everyone here is so friendly!”

“My mom and step dad stayed in the stoneyman suite a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the beautiful view. They called and told me it was so peaceful and relaxing. We’re hoping to get the whole family together for a vacation soon! I’m a big breakfast fan and my mom kept raving about the breakfast and how great Carl and Donna were. They said 5 stars for sure!”
“This is Airport food so my expectations are relatively low. As long as I can get my food QUICKLY and be left to dine in peace I'm satisfied. The Chicken Cesar salad with extra chicken and avocado was EXACTLY what I needed in between a short layover-- That's if you don't want to settle for the boxed salads. Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop by to dine in and grab a salad or pizza!”
“Had an excellent Spring Break stay at Hopkins Ordinary where we were greeted by excellent hosts; stayed in a beautiful room with a fireplace and clawfoot bathtub; given delicious breakfast each morning; received spectacular recommendations for picturesque hikes and views in the area; and even more! I couldn't recommend this place enough. Thank you so much, Caryn and Robert!”
“What an amazing find in the middle of rural Virginia. Interesting, delicious food, friendly, attentive service. And a beautiful environment. I'll be back for sure.”
“Magnolia checks all the boxes; beautiful venue, great service, friendly staff, local to us, outstanding wines, fun events, dog friendly. If you're touring or looking for a single destination, add this one to your list!”
“Really enjoyed the beer, the staff and the location. We did a walking beer tour - Pen Druid, Veditz and Hopkins Ordinary. There is a nice walking path that connects all three. About a 3 mile loop. Highly recommended!”
“Great little space serving fantastic custom cocktails and good food in a cozy environment. It’s a tight space — 4 2-tops and a small bar, but it delivers in a big way! Bartender was fabulous, drinks great — got a mojito and one of the better ones I’ve had. Definitely recommend stopping in!”
“The cutest place with great coffee and breakfast. It's full of locals but the kind who want to talk to those from out of town. The place is small but it's efficient. I had the ham and Gruyère cheese quiche and it was awesome. My friends had breakfast sandwiches. I loved my oat milk honey cinnamon latte!”
“Three Blacksmiths is not just a restaurant with great food, it is a culinary journey! To start, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We felt at home the second we arrived. A staff member even noticed we were taking a selfie and came out to take a group photo for us. The four of us (all long time friends) made our first decision quickly, wine pairing or zero proof pairings. One chose the zero proof (DD) and she was not disappointed in the least. Gabriel's creative concoctions perfectly matched the menu for our sitting. Then, our food adventure began and I can say, each course was beautiful and delicious and included flavors and tastes I had never experienced before. I am an experienced home cook, but there were plenty of ingredients that I had never seen or used before. I particularly loved the white asparagus veloute and the spring ricotta gnudi which was basically an amazing ravioli without the pasta coat. The wine pairings were perfect and made even more special because Chef Jake Addeo and his wife, Sara, talked us through each pairing. In fact, the whole staff interacted with us the entire meal and made the experience educational as well as a culinary prize. The portions were perfect for us since we had a least 7 courses. I cannot forget to mention the bread, one of which was the best focaccia I have ever eaten! This is a very special restaurant and staff in a very little town. A true gem that I cannot recommend enough!”
“As usual, HappyCow will not allow 5-star reviews for places that are not completely vegan/vegetarian, but this is a 5-star review... Do yourself a favor and come visit Sumac! Chef Dan and his crew go to extraordinary lengths to create magic. The menu always has vegan/vegetarian options, and the location/view cannot be beaten!”
“Very friendly gentleman who gave us samples of the ciders to see which one we wanted. They were all amazing. The building is from the 1800's and very beautiful. Bathrooms are remodeled and nice.”
“My daughter and I were pampered for a special girls' weekend / Sat dinner at this very lovely restaurant with delicious food and a nice wait staff. We would return again to dine and enjoy the back deck area in the spring.”
“They just did a Valentine's Tea for over 60 plus and did an amazing job. I would highly recommend them for your next party or event. They go above and beyond.”
“After our hike in Shenandoah National Park, we stopped by Glen Manor for a glass of wine as it is very close to the trails. When having wine here you get to enjoy the same stunning views as hiking in the national park. The scenery is truly breathtaking. The service we encountered was exceptional. The staff members are true wine experts and treat you like royalty. The wine itself was fantastic. It's worth noting to bring your own snacks or lunch as they don't offer food on-site, but they do allow you to bring your own. With a spacious patio and outdoor area, you can sit back, unwind, and fully absorb the incredible mountain views. This will be a post-hike tradition for me from now on!”
“POST-HIKE HOME RUN!Had an amazing "design your own" pizza, although they have quite a selection of signature and classic pizzas, calzones, pasta, salads, and appetizers. Their menu for "Francis Cocktails," wines, and craft beers will satisfy most tastes. The build our own pizzas offer quite a list of tasty and locally grown ingredients. The staff is friendlier than any pizza places that I have been in a while. And the pizza arrived at the table very fast! This craft pizza mecca and it's adjoining Country Store and Bar Francis (all one big business) are the perfect stop over when in the area, to stock up, have drinks, and/or have a tasty meal. Will be back!”
“A better than average burger and full bar restaurant. I got a design my own lamb burger with broccoli. Nice that I could get some kind of vegetable instead of fries. Very decent food. I'd stop there again.”
“Let me start by saying that the ding to 4 stars for the Atmosphere is only because I'm not a fan of live music while dining and we weren't aware that they had live music on Friday & Saturday nights (I've since been informed that it's only 1-2x a month, so if you ARE a fan of live music, plan accordingly), when we decided to have dinner at the Black Twig; so it's not so much a ding on them. The staff was phenomenal, doing everything they could to accommodate us with a table as far from the entry to the room in which the band was playing and, although the extended wait was due to our request for a farther table, we were comped a free appetizer; a gesture that instantly garnered them kudos. The wait staff was attentive and took great care of us; empty dishes removed promptly, drinks refilled with little to no wait, etc. The main reason for being there - the food - was no less than the service. My sister-in-law, quite the foodie with high standards, had nothing but praise for the whole experience - which may be more difficult to achieve than a Michelin start. Highly recommend. . . just avoid live music nights if you want to have a quieter experience.”
“Is a great little side of the road Burger joint. At the foothills of the Blue ridge. It's very nice to grab a pizza or a burger and just sit out there by the river and relax while you eat.”
“Great beer and great views. Chill vibe. The brewer was super kind and chatted me up about his methods of carbonation and his yeast which was neat to learn about. The other staff member was friendly as well.”
“Recently, under my company Benson Park Photography, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Cierra and Josh’s engagement session at The Blue Rock. This enchanting location, nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offered a picturesque and deeply personal setting for their photos, echoing the place where Josh proposed to Cierra. From the moment we arrived, The Blue Rock's charm was undeniable. The property boasts stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, providing a serene and majestic backdrop for our photo session. Every corner of the grounds offered a new and beautiful setting, from lush gardens to quaint pathways, all under the vast expanse of the Virginia sky. It was clear that Josh and Cierra’s wish to showcase the property in their engagement photos was not only fitting but inspired. The Blue Rock is not just remarkable for its views but also for its warm hospitality and exquisite culinary offerings. The food is exceptional; each meal prepared with a level of care and quality that added an extra layer of delight to your stay.I am immensely grateful to have been a part of this special moment in Cierra and Josh’s journey together. The Blue Rock is a gem in Rappahannock, perfect for anyone looking to capture or celebrate life’s most precious moments against the unparalleled beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.”
