“This deli was so good!! if you're in the area and want to grab something quickly this is the place to go. You can take food to go or you can sit down. They have ample seating, where you order upfront, and then sit on your own. The food was delicious and you can tell it was all fresh and from good sources. The service was super friendly and kind“
“We went to the charming restaurant for dinner. There was a fantastic piano player with an amazing range pleasantly accompanying our meal at the perfect volume for our enjoyment and conversation. The service, ambiance and food were all top notch. We shared the onion rings, calamari, Brussels and beet salad for appetizers then we all enjoyed our meals, including the clam chowder, clams casino linguini, salmon, cauliflower/garbanzo dish and a few others. For dessert we preferred the maple bread pudding to the flourless chocolate cake. The cocktails, wine and coffees were all delicious as well. Make sure to make reservations as it’s not a big place. We’ll look forward to going back when we’re in the area!“
“So wish I lived closer to this restaurant because I'd come again in a heartbeat. Came with a party of 14 and we were blown away with every dish and drink. My friend and I ordered the Maple Glazed NY Strip Steak (they didn't have the Flank Steak that night so they subbed it with a NY Strip) and the Jamaican Jerked Pork Shoulder to share. I'm still thinking about those 2 dishes even now that it's been a couple days since having it. For the Pork Shoulder, the meat was insanely tender and I absolutely loved the creamy polenta bed and the contrasting slightly sour cabbage. For the steak, the wine glaze + chimichurri were the perfect pairings for the meat. The glaze was slightly sweet and complemented the savoriness of the chimichurri. Really enjoyed the scallion potato cake and brussel sprouts that soaked up the glaze too. I ordered the Snow Day drink and that was well done too, not too sweet. Overall amazing amazing meal and stellar service as well!“
“The Phelps Barn in Grafton, Vermont, is a culinary escape to a time less complicated, a place where the modern hustle fades into the background, replaced by the rustic charm of New England. As you roll into town, the sense that you've traveled through time is palpable, setting the stage for a truly quaint dining experience. This isn't just any barn; it's a sanctuary for anyone with an appetite for the hearty, the homely, and the slightly adventurous. The menu is a delightful mix of the familiar and the intriguing—from classic burgers that remind you why you love them, to wild game that tempts the more daring palates. It’s clear there's a skilled hand in the kitchen, balancing the fine line between traditional comforts and culinary curiosity. The service matches the food: efficient yet unobtrusive, allowing you to soak in the ambiance without interruption. Food arrives promptly, an impressive feat that doesn't sacrifice quality for speed. And then there's the dessert—the crème brûlée here is not to be missed. It’s the kind of dessert you'll keep coming back for, a perfect blend of creamy and crackly. After indulging at Phelps Barn, take a stroll through Grafton. It's the perfect post-meal activity, not just for aiding digestion but for appreciating the serene beauty of the area. This town, like its barn-turned-restaurant, embodies a slice of Americana that’s both refreshing and profoundly satisfying. So, if your travels bring you near Grafton, don't miss out on this gem. It's a taste of the past served up just as it should be.“
“Great breakfast sandwiches, everything we ordered tasted perfect. Service a little slow but if you’re not in a rush, highly recommended. Solid spot for a breakfast sandwich before you hit the mountain (right across the street from Okemo).“
“You can't go wrong with a meal at the Grafton Inn. My husband had the lamb and it was so tender he could cut it with his fork. I had the filet and they were kind enough to substitute the vegetable to my preference. The filet was cooked absolutely perfectly! Both my husband and I cleaned our plates. Lisa was our server for this meal and she is always so kind and helpful ❤️ A delicious anniversary meal ❤️“
“What a special experience! This isn't just fine dining, it's a full on lovely experience that is worth every Penny! The food was as high quality as it gets, the service was as personalized and attentive as it gets and you couldn't be more comfortable and satisfied with every delicious sip and bite. Our DG dinner blew our expectations out of the snow!! We cannot wait to get back for our next special occasion.“
“The PEOPLE are what make this place. Kind, attentive and always smiling and joking! It is a little run down with patches on some of the seats and could use a bit of upkeep. However, that can be viewed as part of the vibe - relaxed, comfortable, homey. I always enjoy their quesadillas and margaritas!! And Shirley, Robin and the staff are all awesome!“
“Great home cooked meals to go. I made the mistake of trying just a little bite of the dessert (Belgium choc coconut sea salt graham cracker thing) on the drive home. Needless to say, it didn’t make it home. Wish I had time to turn around and get another one!“
“It's dimly lit, with stamped metal ceiling tiles and pictures paying homage to the Godfather movie on the wall. Our server, Jess, was terrific - super fast, friendly and attentive even though there was a party of 14 in our section. The specials are written on a white board that is hilariously toted from table to table. Thankfully, we got to order our entrees while they were working on appetizers. Hubby ordered a tasty Upper Pass IPA, I had the glass of Terrazas Los Andes Malbec, which was fruity and full, and not too acidic. A big basket of rolls was brought out. Jess had to warn us that they were really hot. Who doesn't love hot fresh rolls served with a bowl full of butter whipped into clouds??! Salads weren't unique, but they were crisp, cold, and fresh. I ordered the haddock with crabmeat stuffing. The haddock was delicious, but I was hoping for more crabmeat - there was some under the breadcrumb top, just not a lot. Pro tip: keep the whipped butter on the table for your baked potato. Hubby got the Black Angus prime rib because, according to Jess, they don't have it every day - only when the prime rib flag is out front. I think only Fridays and Saturdays. It was tender and cooked very nicely. Hubby wasn't disappointed. The best dish was the daughter's Crispy 1/2 Duck - the skin, indeed was crackling crispy. It was served with cherries in a wine reduction, which my daughter didn't need or want with her meal, but my husband and I helped ourselves - they were yummy. We can't tell you about dessert because we didn't order any - we were stuffed. Everything was delicious and nicely done. Kudos to Jess and team!“
“Had a fantastic weekend at the Upper Pass Lodge and Magic Mountain. Comfy affordable rooms and a delicious hot breakfast served by super nice people. Easy walk to skiing and offers an elegant dinner as well. Vermont hospitality at its finest at an unpretentious ski lodge.“
“Leslie herself and I assume her husband the cook greeted us, which really set the tone for what was a very warm and welcoming dinner. The food was awesome, the atmosphere was so cozy and warm, and the service was everything you needed and more. Both Leslie and their chef chatted with us briefly and shared some stories about killington which was the mountain my friend and I were on our way to see.I will definitely stop her again on my way through the area and will recommend it to everyone.“
“Such a friendly atmosphere from the moment you walk in. This restaurant had to go thru a lot to be open for ski season. Ludlow had a devastating mud flood in June that brought six feet of water and mud to the area. The bartender is the bomb!!! She makes all the cocktail syrups from locally harvested fruits. No sugars or additives. Amazing. Tonight's special was a strawberry martini that looked amazing. I had a Manhattan that delivered a warm glow on a chilly evening. I had the eggplant parm which was cut thickly and lightly fried. Amen to that. Most places deep fry thin cuts of eggplant so it has no taste or texture. They prepared it with a béchamel sauce and a tomato sauce. Tasty and satisfying. My partner had a burger and fries that he enjoyed. Thank you for the tasty cocktails, warm food and inviting atmosphere.“
“We absolutely loved this place during our recent getaway to Vermont. We ended up going twice because the wings & pulled pork (had both the sandwich & Mac n cheese) are to DIE for. If you’re ever at Okemo Mountain or around Ludlow, it’s a must go! Servers are also very kind & hard working.“
“We don't usually eat when we go skiing/riding, but today we decided after 4 hours on the mountain, we were a little peckish. Stopped into The Bull, and were seated straight away. Nice place- surrounded by windows and t.v.'s with a cozy atmosphere. Our waitress came right over and got our drink orders. Hubs got a nice cold beer and I had a tall cold coke. Boy did they hit the spot! For a snack, we shared the turkey bacon wrap and an order of fries. The fries were PERFECT- hot and crispy and soft in the middle. The wrap itself was super fresh (the veggies cold and crisp), plenty of turkey and a TON of bacon...and the chipotle mayo (i think?) added a nice flavor. Not sure if it was because we worked up an appetite that everything tasted great, but we think that the food was fresh and basic, the service was great, and the ambiance was perfect, especially after skiing/riding!“
“The food, the friendly service, the quaint and charming interior. Everything about this place boasts comfortable, delicious, cozy and quintessential countryside Vermont coffee shop. I am so grateful to be a local because this place is an absolute gem.“
