“I live in Maine and heard about Southside Steakhouse from a friend. The service was great. Bruce was right on top of everything. The oysters 🦪 were delicious. I had the prime rib and let me tell you it was over the top delicious. I highly recommend it for service, food and drinks 🍹. I was very disappointed in the place allowing men to wear hats. Call me old fashioned but good manners are not that hard. It just looks disrespectful to your place of business. You are a very good restaurant and asking for men to remove their hat is only going to draw people back.”

“I have tried Jones' donuts a few times. They are absolutely amazing. I love the Lemon filled, Maple glazed, Apple filled, Chocolate Frosted.. These donuts are the best I've ever eaten. I live 2 hours away and have recommended Jones' donuts to everyone i know.”

“Best hot Italian. Get the large and you'll have lunch for 2 days. I crave this place now. Only wish would be to toast the roll. But that's minor stuff. I grew up eating Italian subs, and this was worth the measly $10. Seriously. The price was shockingly low. It's a hefty sub.”

“My new weekly ritual on Tuesday is to order my dinner from Avellinos. Rigatoni with meatballs and Italian sausage. Homemade Italian bread also included. For the price...usually $11, you get your to go container full of delicious pasta with sauce and parmesan cheese. Don't care where you dine in Rutland...for the price, you get enough food for at least 2 meals. Plus I get to support a local business, and a fellow moose lodge member. If you haven't called them before, perhaps give them a call sometime for dinner on a day you're unsure of your dinner plans. You won't be disappointed. I believe orders are taken from 4-7pm. Take out of course.”

“I noticed this place driving by last week for work, and decided to stop in for lunch on my way through for work this week. Had the Brisket Sandwich and the French Onion Soup, both were amazing!!! The brisket was no doubt better than what I got from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Troy, NY the night before. Love this place and intend to stop again in the future. Fast and friendly service as well!”

“Best Grinders in the world, and I’ve been around at 92. Recently changed hands, better telephone service. Lived nearby for 11 years, now many hours away, but worth the trip, especially after a day of traveling home to take a well wrapped large Italian hot grinder out of the cooler and feast. Stays fresh and tasty.”

“I was once obsessed with Bellomo’s grinders. Particularly, the hot Italian. The Italian sauce they put on it- set their Italian grinder apart from all the others in town. Today was my first time buying since the new ownership and of course I get the Italian grinder and it was…… ok.. I polished off my friends chicken salad- that was good. I think next time I’ll try a soup. Bellomos use to make the BEST cheddar ale soup.”

“We have been twice so far and plan to go back when we visit Castleton again. The food and beer is amazing. They also have the best staff. We even brought the dog last time we went and they gave her a nice cold bowl of water and a pup cup. I highly recommend eating here.”

“I know the wait is extremely long and access is not easy with long lines. I am not a Dunkins fan so this is my go to for coffee with a drive thru. Happy they are now in Rutland. The only real issue other than wait time is that they keep messing up my iced coffee order.”

The atmosphere is nice, a bit outdated but much better than the 1900's cafeteria style seating a lot of restaurants have in Rutland.

The service was impeccable and I sat at the bar.
