“I’ve been going here since I was around 7 and have seen it go through so many different managements to build it up to what it is today and it’s so impressive! From plastic, white chairs and tables under harsh white lights to a comforting environment with fish tanks and water as well as booth seating. The food never disappoints (i’m a regular), the employees are very attentive and polite, and the wait for food is never long even on really busy days. I wanted to write this review to thank the restaurant for all the great years of dining!!“

“We had the crab ravioli and wild boar. I have been searching for the perfect pappardelle. Found it. We were fighting over whose entree was the best! Service, atmosphere, everything was beyond amazing! We were surprised at the extremely special touches for our occasion. We had been wanting to go for so long but for us it’s a jaunt with our schedules. So we planned our whole anniversary around the Montalcino and its sister restaurant Vivi. “Everything about the Salish Lodge and Spa is beautiful but one of the things that really set it apart was how welcoming, kind, and truly lovely all the staff were. From the valet staff to front desk to dining and housekeeping, we were treated with kindness and respect through every part of our stay. We brought our two dogs and even they were treated with a lot of love! Honestly, such a positive experience here. “Visited for first time, August 29 2024. Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Ordered the fruity French toast. 3 big thick slices of bread, with fresh fruit and homemade whipped cream The bread only had egg wash on one side, as if they poured the egg on the flattop and set the bread on it, As these were thick slices, the rest of it was just dry bread. Not what we expected. We thought it would be dipped and covered in egg. The silverware is the basic stamped out cafeteria style utensils and takes away from the overall experience of this otherwise homey ambience.“

While walking home on a lovely fall afternoon, I stumbled upon a charming little teriyaki place that seemed to scream, “Eat outside while you still can!” Naturally, I obliged.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, and wow! It was like a warm hug from a long-lost friend. The chicken, grilled to perfection, bathed in a sweet-savory sauce, had my taste buds doing the cha-cha. The rice was fluffy, and the veggies were fresh enough to make you think they just jumped off a farmer's market table—if I knew what that looked like, of course.

As I savored my meal, the sun beamed down, and I had to fend off some curious squirrels who clearly believed my bowl was their next treasure. I perfected my “I will not share” face—an impressive masterpiece, if I do say so myself.

Overall, this teriyaki spot is a must-visit for a delightful meal that pairs perfectly with the last sunny days of fall. Just make sure to bring your sense of humor and maybe a jacket for when the sun sets and the squirrels start plotting! ???️“

“Found my new go to Korean spot! Their Galbi Tang is very good especially paired with the radish kimchi. I normally don't find the banchan sets at other korean restaurants to be very good, but Danji seems to have it figured out (Especially the Kimchi). The Yangnyeom chicken is definitely up there as well in terms of flavor and crispiness.“

“Wish they would bring back their weekend breakfast/brunch especially during the summer. We use to love to come have brunch before hitting the river. It's been gone since covid, but don't understand why - they were always packed! I kept hoping it would return, but now it's been 5 years... They had an omelet with garlic aioli and a bloody Mary with chili peper infused vodkha that came in a giant Mason jar that was simply the best. Used to be one of my fav brunches around and would drive out in the winter as well - our buddy bartended here for years, so we came pretty often to say hi, but continued to come after he left up until covid as we loved it. We also stayed the night on the fly once when they happened to have a room available- so we rented a room for after the river and made an evening out of it. Was a ton of fun -I really miss the breakfast :(“

Sushi, on the other spectrum- all was delicious; between my little sister (which was visiting from Montana), our mother filled up on miso soups, 2 yellowtail, 2 spider rolls of the 6 & the salad n white rice...

Hopefully, next time visiting- vegetarian Kimchi will be an option, even if $7 charge for all you can have while dining 😉 !

“We have been customers for over a decade. Always odering the same thing: steak and meatball pho, extra meatballs, 2 orders of eggrolls, and a side of leaf lettuce. One of our favorite Pho restaurants. Service is quick and the food is delicious! Today, we were seated at the same table 7 years ago. I was still pregnant then. We also dined here with my infant daughter when she was still in her car seat carrier/basket. My parents from the Philippines also dined here when they visited us. This place holds a lot of memories for us. Will be back again and again.“

The atmosphere is like a cozy small diner/family kitchen and it is relaxing and laid back. And as a rare tea drinker, I can say that while they charge the same as other places for tea, they serve super high quality English breakfast tea, which was delightful. Mike, the bar manager, constantly blows me away with his ingenuitive creations and crafts. And if Mikes not there? A dedicated, kind, and knowledgable staff can recreate it all and offer such a joyful time with their humor and conversation.

Now for the food.... I dont think I know of a place with a better taco in King Co. Their salsa's make me want to cry with joy, and sometimes from spicy pain (this is a good thing). And for those who dont want tacos, just order one of the many other items on the menu and you'll see why so many have made El 42 a regular haunt.
