“Kimball Coffeehouse ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On 5/16/24, I visited Kimball Coffeehouse in Gig Harbor, Washington. This coffeehouse has a great history, which I’ve included a link to in the comments. Kimball Coffeehouse has live music on the weekends. The evening I arrived, they were setting up for Open Mic Night. They roast their own coffee beans. They have an extensive menu that includes Breakfasts, Smoothies, Sandwiches, Flatbread Pizzas, Salads, Soups, Snacks, and Desserts. I ordered a Spring coffee drink called Bees Knees, which is a Lavender & Honey Latte. The flavor combination was a bit too subtle for me, but it was good. Next time, I will try something else. The woman sitting next to me ordered a BLT, which looked excellent! One of the things I really like about Kimball Coffeehouse is they seem to have a lot of regulars. Coffee shops like that are hard to find.  I look forward to visiting Kimball Coffeehouse the next time I’m in town.… Highly Recommended!!!“

“Discovered this place about a month ago, it's been open for about a year. I love that they have several non-sweet pastries - bacon/parmesian biscuits, savory scones. We always go for dirty chais and theirs is perfect - a little less sweet than most and much more flavor. It's a gem. Haven't had any meals there but the simple options look good.
Staff is super friendly, good ambiance, clean, interesting paintings and decor.

There’s one barista who looks like Kat Stickler from TikTok, and she’s honestly the nicest person ever. She’s so pretty, so sweet, and I always leave wishing we could be friends. But truly, every single girl who works here is amazing — friendly, fast, and they brighten my day.

-Lots of seating, including a light-filled front room, a nice and shady backroom, and a patio.
-Nice bathroom
-Good tasting coffee (had drip and a cortado)
-$.92 refills on 12-16 ounce drip coffee.

Less Positive:
-Lots of flies, including inside the pastry case.
-Awkward layout in the front room leads to constant traffic jams in the narrow spaces on either side of the coffee bar. The precariousness of these narrow spaces is exacerbated by walls of glass (wine bottles on one side, glassware on the other).
-Only one bathroom can cause long waits.“

“Cheyenne and her girls at High Ground are AMAZING. Not only do they make my coffee just right, they never cease to have suggestions of new fun things to try. As a mom of 4 with 3 old enough to also want something when I stop, we cannot get enough of their monthly kids drink specials and if there is something wild my kids want (an empty cup so my toddlers baby doll can also have a coffee, something green for my 6 year old for example) they always go above and beyond to do it for them. I'm diabetic and am thrilled that I have a coffee shop that I can go to and get so many flavor combinations for coffee and such. I think they could brighten anyone's day! When I got to the window, I read the smaller menu in front of me about the seasonal specials. I read the specials menu deciding on what I might want to try. All the while the person at the window was engaged in a personal conversation with someone else. Finish with my reading. I waited for another minute or so to listen to the blather about her recommendations of somewhere to go, and how the other person would feel accepted. Blah, blah, blah. Sorry, that's not why I drove into your place of business. Read your menu and waited for your employee to do their job which they did not. I can go anywhere and be ignored. But to be expected to purchase something afterwards, spending my money for rudeness. You have lost a customer that you never had.“

We will come in here sometimes and just get the cheese plate or a little sandwich and a drink and sit around and just talk it's a very peaceful relaxing place they have indoor and outdoor seating. And it's on the corner the inside of the strip mall so you have a nice view if you sit outside on a sunny day. Staff are always friendly and helpful in what I like about it also is it's always clean and has a very cool eclectic feeling inside. This place is warm and welcoming and has become a fixture of this busy corner of the world. The retro-pub vibe is a nice break from the ”we are the newest, come in here” cafes in the area. And the menu and selection of tasty treats is extensive and spot on. A mellow break from the real world.“

The staff are incredibly friendly and adorable, and they take orders right away—no long waiting at all. The drinks are delicious, especially the blended ones, which are perfect for cooling off in the summer.
The shop is beautifully decorated with a cozy, aesthetic vibe, and everything is very clean. I’m also obsessed with the penguin plush pillows—they’re seriously the cutest 🐧💙
The food is just as amazing: the “cheer me up” fries are crispy and so good, and the takoyaki and waffles never disappoint.

I tried the Firecracker Frappuccino around the 4th of July and it was so good—definitely one of my favorite limited-time drinks. “Ocean5 is one of the most accessible places in Gig Harbor for seniors using walkers or wheelchairs. The disabled parking is plentiful, the front entrance has automatic sliding doors, and there is a gentle ramp directly into the coffee shop area. My father has significant mobility limitations, and this is one of the few places where getting from the car to a table feels manageable and low-stress. Then, add great coffee, good food, and excellent service.“

It might be a cliche to say a business feels like home, but Hot Java Cafe fits the bill and then some. I started visiting regularly while working on a writing project, and everyone on the staff - Didi, Clover, Alisha and Lilly, and Rylee - are not just kind and welcoming, but they craft incredible food and drinks.
Hot Java is the kind of place that knows you by name and remembers your usual, with a genuine smile. Every customer is treated as a human first, and is well taken care of from the moment the door chime sounds as you set foot inside. The space feels like an extension of your living room, carefully designed and comfortable; a place made to linger in.
And the fare! Biscuits and gravy are a favorite for me; the right combination of savory and peppery. The coffee specials are consistently inventive and enjoyable; a recent bourbon caramel latte perfectly balanced sweet and smoky, and was served in a Jack of All Trades ceramic mug while I wrote. A small touch that isn't small. Nor is the staff's willingness to adjust the menu to suit one's request.
Hot Java is a shining example of a small business doing things in the right way: making a difference to the community, one person and one coffee at a time.
