“Ive had the honor of putting on two large corporate retreat/events (120+ people) at Doe Bay. Both the staff and ownership bent over backwards to see that we had everything we needed to pull off a successful event. My thanks go out to River, Joe and their crew!”

“I love the coffee here! You can't get the same taste of the island! We love the male barista with the long dreads....forgot his name but he is the nicest employee there! So friendly and personable! Super passionate about his job and people!”
“We always get the most delicious, innovative, unique pastries from Seabird! It is truly a highlight of our week to be able to see what treats are offered and pick out our favorites.”

“Pro Life Tip: when you see a line coming out the front door of a business - GET IN LINE! I was in Eastshore (from Nebraska) to purchase some coffee roasters from a local seller. I had some time to kill before my ferry back to the mainland left, so was walking around the cool downtown of Eastshore. My attention was drawn to a line of humanity spilling out the front door of one business and out onto the sidewalk. A quick Google told me it was a bakery and so I did the most sensible thing and JOINED THE LINE. When I got inside I was delighted to see Kouign Amann at the front of the pastry case. I had only recently learned of this demanding, difficult to make pastry and it was ALL I WANTED. A short wait later one was in my bag/Crumb Catcher! Here it is a week and a half later and i’m STILL THINKING ABOUT IT and writing this review. It was a-MAY-zing and I have little doubt that ANYTHING you choose will be just as memorable. These guys could probably FRANCHISE their knowledge & processes in places like Aspen, Park City, Jackson Hole, etc. - but then again, maybe not. Maybe you need the passion of two classically trained pastry chefs, in their own little wonderful corner of the world (Orcas Island, WA). In any event, if you find yourself on the island, you MUST make Brown Bear Bakery a stop. You will NOT regret it. How ANYONE could give this place ANYTHING less than 5 FULL STARS boggles the imagination.”

“What a wonderful experience! It was so delicious and each course was so beautifully laid out. I didn’t know I was a fan of hay ice cream, but I am!”

“We have been to this restaurant a few times. The food is good. We have had some exceptional this but we have also had some mediocre stuff. Nothing bad just not impressive, but the thing they need to work on is service. It's ok at best and sometimes down right bad. Servers spending more time socializing them serving customers. We probably will go back next season. Maybe they will get it worked out.”
“The owner was very friendly. The tacos, burritos and sopes can be made vegan. Pupusas are prefilled so they can't be vegan. I ordered a vegan burrito, which was very hefty, saucy and delicious. Don't forget to ask for a free side hot sauce if you like that. I'm not sure if they ran out or the recipe was unique, there were no beans in the burrito. However the stuffed vegetables (including radishes) and rice well made up for that. Highly recommended!”

“Excellent service for the instant rush of customers. We walked in #3 and within minutes the line was out door. Moved fast! Good espresso, big brownies fresh, no stale pastries on a late morning Friday. Parking is a bit tight (not Holly B's issue), lots of outdoor seating and bicycle parking.”

“Our family was thrilled with the food, service and lovely atmosphere. The menu is well appointed with selections. We enjoyed the octopus and wagyu meatballs for appys. Mains were a variety of pizza, pork shank (sublime!) and a pasta. The tiramisu finished the meal and should not be passed up. The wine list is well curated, we enjoyed a bottle of Bea from 2016. Phillip and Erin (the owners) were onsite and are deeply committed to providing orcas residents and visitors with a special dining spot. The adjacent shop on site has some great delicacies and baked goods too. We will be back!”

“Loved everything about our meal here! Reservations are a smart idea, and be sure to save room to try and sample lots of things. We were delighted by the pickled veggies and of course had to sample all the dumplings before devouring delicious bowls of ramen.”

“I was so happy to see this place! I didn’t realize there is a Filipino restaurant on orcas island! The food is so good and the ladies here are so friendly and nice! If you’re looking for great food on east sound on orcas island, I highly recommend you check them out. They are on the way to the dock - quite hidden but they have the signs out where you can see them on the days that they are open. I think only 2 days a week? Today, the sign says Wed and Thurs 11am - 4pm.”
“Lovely shop full of interesting local art. Always friendly staff and most important, delicious coffee and creative flavor blends.”

“I'm already looking forward to returning to try more menu items. The peanut pepper wrap was vegan without any modifications, and they let me leave out certain veggies on request. It was ginormous, delicious and seemed relatively healthy. Can be made gluten free if ordered as a salad, per the staff. The staff was very friendly and the outdoor seating was beautiful, with a large lawn, lots of trees, and a distant ocean view. Nice lunch spot with my dog. Highly recommend!”

“I don’t give 5 stars lightly, but the Haven absolutely deserves it! What a gem of a restaurant nestled in Lopez Village. Quality and flavor of food rivals most anything you can find in the big city. The service staff really works as a well-oiled machine, with non-stop — yet unobtrusive — attention to detail. Then the bar serves some of the most creative and delicious drinks imaginable. When you find yourself on Lopez, make every effort to stop by and enjoy!”

“In a lot of towns you pass local pubs like this and think, meh, it's a tavern, let's look for something else. But towns need their taverns, and Eastsound is lucky to have The Lower! There is an obvious pride in ownership going on here. Clean, comfy and warm interior, supremely friendly and welcoming staff, a really wide selection of beers and wines that ain't common in most pubs, and filled with a great local energy - you can tell that this is a regular gathering place for the community. We were there on an Open Mic Tuesday, which added to the charm and fun. Outstanding burgers (the only food we tried on this visit) and reasonable prices. Just enjoy it.”
