I will say that it’s a family owned restaurant and sometimes the service takes a little longer than other places but the quality of the food is worth it without a doubt!“

“I love this place! ❤️ Having a severe food allergy and eating out is just not an easy task. So when I found out about this place I was super excited, but hesitant. If you have celiacs or just a gluten allergy have no fear, this place is awesome! There are not tons of choices, but what they do offer is amazing. Anyway, their food is beautiful, delicious and fresh. Their servers are knowledgeable and if there is something they don't know, the chef's are all about it :) They will give you options to switch ingredients in or out, if needed. Amazing service, a kind, and professional staff, and good food = You should totally eat here! I'll post photos next time I am there. I already scarfed mine. Yes. They have GF soy sauce. I dont have to drive to Seattle for sushi anymore!

“This is one of my favorite places to satisfy my sweet tooth. They are a family-owned shop where you might have been served by the parents or the kids. They struggled to survive during the pandemic and seem to be thriving again

I can only speak to the quality of the sorbet, of which there are always 2 or e and are wonderful. You may be amazed there is no dairy ingredients. The frozen yogurt looks great and my family loves it. The topings are fresh and everything is clean, very clean. There are 2 registers, so you rarely have to wait long. There is a great mix of people from all areas and walks of life. Did I mention it's very clean and staff are friendly?“

“We had our favorite dishes: (breaded) fish tacos and fish 'n chips. Both were very well prepared and tasty. Breading could be thicker - it's too light to soak up much melted vinegar. Chopped mango sprinkled on the tacos add a nice flavor twist.
Servings were generous for all but large appetites. Take home boxes a plus.“

“The naem khao was PERFECT! I'm a bit too lazy to make this dish at home, so it was a treat to have it finally :) It was super duper! They provided plenty of lettuce and also extra cilantro & mint. I was a bit surprised that the staff never came around to fill our waters or check on us after bringing the food, but it was fine. We didn't need anything, but it's just a nice formality that I'm used to at other places. I also ordered the tom khem, thai coffee, and thai tea. The tom khem was WAY too salty, and they didn't give enough rice to balance the saltiness of the soup. It was good flavor, but I would've preferred the sweetness to come through a little more than the saltiness. The pork belly in the soup was very tender and delicious. The thai tea was WAY too sweet as well. I had to water it down for it to be more enjoyable. I'm the type of person that enjoys the boldness of a thai tea, and the sugar just overpowered the unique flavor of the thai tea which was a little upsetting. I think the sweetness level on the thai coffee was also a bit too much, but it seemed to work better since coffee itself is more bitter. Overall, I would come again just for the naem khao. I would like to try my other favorite dish, Lad Na, but I'm worried they might make it too salty based on my experience with the tom khem. 4/5“

We found this place almost by accident while attending a conference in Renton / Newcastle. We had the Carne Assada and plate of nachos. It fed 2 of us with leftovers and the aromas we so rich with flavors exploding on our palate. I'd drive the 3 hours just to come here again.“

“We had the burrata e prosciutto, gnocchi w/ bolognese, a lobster pasta special, the molten chocolate lava cake and they were all delicious. It’s not a cheap dinner but the food is great. We waited 5-10 minutes before anyone welcomed us so we ordered everything at once. Entrees could have been timed a little better because we weren’t quite done with appetizers, but overall it was a great meal. The place could use a refresh, it feels a little old, but clean and again, they food was wonderful.“

It seems like a tall order. But it isn't. You just have to ask. And the answer is Mekenie's! Opened in 2018 by Monna Lisa Perez, the restaurant is run by her daughter Jonnarae greeting you in the front of the house and son, ChaRly in kitchen making up your tasty fair. Located in the Cascade neighborhood of Renton, Mekenie is housed in the Cascade Mall. Although unseemingly quiet, it quickly gets packed on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and sometimes on Sunday. The restaurant is also available for private bookings. On a technical note, their food and hospitality has aspects from the Pampangan region of the Philippines, known for its rich culinary heritage. This tradition was on display in this homestyle decor with homestyle tastes that any diner will recognize, and where Filipino Americans will find comfort. All are tasty. As an appetizer, I had the fresh, hand rolled, deep-fried pork lumpia - which came out piping hot out the fryer (awesome). I also had a traditional pork Sinigan with just the right amounts of tamarind, lemon, and tomato - making a nice clear consume broth. And just a little bit of Philippine style fish-sauce for taste. One note, no Coke products here. It must be Pepsi - Definitely a Filipino thing.Philippine brand snacks and drinks are also available to round out the experience. Stop by. “I'm all about the food and the broth they use for their pho is one of, if not, the best I've had. So much flavor! I usually add soy sauce and Sriracha to my broth at other places but theirs was near perfect without, I just added Sriracha as I like it spicy. The spring roll was ehh and the pot stickers were ehh as well but that broth was so good! There was not much meat in the bowl but it was only $14 for a large as others charge like $18, so 🤷‍♂️ If I lived closer I would probably go here often to get the broth and make my own. I had issues with ordering as the waitress did not speak the best English.“
