New information - I just learned that the ice machine is cleaned quite regularly here and I'll tell you folks, this is a clean establishment. Most bars and restaurants don't attend to their ice machines regularly and this is a big deal. Mold grows on unclear surfaces, even in the icy cold! Trust this place with your drink because you won't be disappointed.

Please disregard the negative reviews of The Steilacoom Taproom because I can promise you, after reading them, they are wrong!”

“We have loved this building for now four generations of our family coming here. The current proprietor makes delicious food and pours her heart and skills into every scratch recipe. Today, we were well taken care of as we celebrated my mom’s 75th birthday in their outdoor dining space. Everyone loved their food, enjoyed friendly & attentive service, and enjoyed many “memory lane” conversations about coming to The Bair (and Mom working part-time here back in the day). Nostalgic, special, fabulous food, and great people. Thank you to Sara and her fantastic team!”

Yes the menu is smaller but you can tell they put a lot of thought and love into their food. I think it’s better to focus on a few good dishes and have them be perfection than have a mid menu with a lot of items. Can’t say enough good things about this place!”

“If you’re going on Saturday morning be prepared to wait a bit (outside) in line and dress accordingly! Worth it though. Phenomenal service and food. Their bagels and shmear are good- just the right amount of chew and density but not dried out or tough. If you like sandwiches though definitely give one of their bagel sandwiches a try. The “hot to go” was the favorite of the 3 we tried (classic bacon egg cheese, pastrami, & hot to go).”

“The food was beyond delicious. I’ve never had anything taste as good as our Turkey Bacon Chutney & our Tenderoni. The shakes were also delicious, & the sorbet was beyond yummy with fruity pebbles. Can’t wait to come back!”

“Our recent visit totacoma included a dining experience at Cactus, a swcond location to the one in Seattle,a Latin fusion establishment. While the restaurant presents a Mexican aesthetic, its culinary offerings lean towards a Latin fusion cFor those seeking traditional Mexican cuisine, this may not be the ideal choice. However, for individuals in search of a flavorful dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service, Cactus is highly recommended. During our visit, I selected the Seattle chimichanga with smoked brisket, which offered a complex and enjoyable flavor profile. My son opted for the flautas, which he also found to be excellent. For dessert, we shared the flan and bananas dulces. Although I was unable to partake in the sweet bananas due to a cinnamon allergy, my son reported they were exceptional. It is worth noting that Kurt Cobain reportedly had his final meal at this establishment, including the sweet bananas for dessert.

At the Tacoma location, we had the flautas again. I had the Burrita Lenera with flank steak; it was spicy enough to give it a great flavor. I will recommend it with the smoked brisket, and my son had the shrimp and grits. He said that it is his new favorite dish.

For an appetizer, we got the Guac sampler, and it didn't disappoint, but the chips and salsa are great too.

The flan was enjoyable, though I personally prefer my own recipe; I still highly recommend it. We had this dessert in both locations; it's that good.

The cost, including beverages, was approximately $30+ per person, which is considered reasonable.

In summary, while the restaurant's Mexican-inspired dishes receive a rating of 5 out of 10, its Latin fusion offerings are rated a 9 out of 10, making it a worthwhile dining destination.
