“This was our first time at Merrill & Houston's, and what a treat it was! The hotel and restaurant share a unique style, seamlessly incorporating ironwork elements into the design in a tasteful way — classic and stylish. We arrived early to enjoy a cocktail at the bar, and it did not disappoint. The basil-lemon martini was one of the best flavor combinations I’ve ever had. The selection of spirits rivals that of any upscale establishment. The service was top-notch. From the charming bartender to our perfect waitress, Rachel, everyone we encountered made us feel valued and well taken care of. Our "Geronimo Moment" appetizer was a delightful surprise — we’ll definitely be back for that Shrimp! As for the main course, if there was any doubt about making this steakhouse one of our regulars, it was quickly erased. The meat was perfectly cooked as ordered, well-seasoned, and the additions were excellent choices that truly enhanced the dish. The salad, soup, potatoes, and dessert were all delicious as well. I wouldn't change a thing about this dining experience. For the quality, options, and overall experience, the price was reasonable for the area. My only regret is not visiting sooner. Merrill & Houston's is a must-try for special occasions, business meetings, family dinners, or even just drinks and appetizers.”

Today in a snow storm, my pick up order was 40 minutes delayed and the delay was at no point communicated to me. There was no place to wait and so after about 15 minutes of standing, my 30 week pregnant self just helped myself to a chair at a table. I could tell the hosts were running, but the lack of communication was very disappointing.”

“Visited for the first time today after living in beloit for 30 years. The bagels were small, dry.and so over priced. I spent 29 dollars on a plain bagel, a muffin and 2 smoothies. Really disappointed because I make better bagels at my house.... BUT the employees are super cute little robots 😅”

Atmosphere is alright. Reminds me of old breakfast places and coffee shops on the outskirts of downtown Chicago for hard-working blue-collar workers

The food was very good. Ordered a Denver omelette with wheat toast and it came with a hash brown and I also ordered a small stack of pancakes. The Denver omelette was filled with ham, green, bell peppers, jalapeños, and onions. Very delicious. The omelette was the good omelette made with pure egg and no other substance, so if you want a fluffy omelette with like milk or cream or something in it, this isn’t the place to go

Service was very good and attentive. I’m not sure if they were the owners or what it was two females and very accommodating and friendly.

I would love to see this place do well because you truly know it’s a Locally owned spot and it would be good for the community to have a good diner/coffee shop

So if you’re in the area or live in the area or visiting, make your way out of downtown to the east about seven blocks and try it out. Very worthwhile.”

“¡No se caigan en la trampa de propipina aquí! / Don't fall for the tipping scam! (English below) Fuimos el día 1 de octubre 2022. La comida estuvo bien y el servicio también. El problema es que no traen cuenta a la mesa y cuando pagas la cajera solo te dice el total. Mi esposo pagó y dejó propina como siempre. En el carro se fijó del recibo y vimos que había una carga extra de propina llamado "loom". La parte de abajo del recibo explica que la cuenta automáticamente carga con una propina de 15% por grupos de 4 o más, que éramos mi esposo, mis 2 hijas y yo. El problema es que no hay ni anuncio en el restaurante ni dicen al pagar. Además el sistema de tarjeta todavía hace la pregunta de propina!? Así que dejemos doble propina - $9.73 por una cuenta de $29.51. Es una trampa y me pregunto con quién se queda la carga automática ¿el dueño o la mesera? We went on 10/1/22. The food was fine as was the service. The problem is that they don't bring a bill to the table and the server just tells you the total when you pay. My husband paid and left a tip like always, but he looked closely at the receipt in the car and saw an extra charge called "loom." The very bottom of the receipt explains that loom is an automatic 15% tip for groups of 4 or more, which in this visit was my husband, my 2 daughters and I. The problem is that there's no notice in the restaurant nor do they tell you when paying. Additionally, the card system still asks if you want to add a tip?!? We ended up leaving a double tip - $9.73 on a $29.51 bill. It's a scam and I wonder who keeps the automatic "loom" charge - the owner or the waitress?”

I was in Beloit for work so I tried their other truck - also amazing. It was so good I had to show a co-worker so three days in a row I ate here. “My ratings are based on being a mom, while this is clearly a night spot, sports bar. We couldn't sit on the patio because smoking is allowed out there. Their food was described as fresh but a decent amount was from frozen. The service was incredibly friendly, prompt, and caring. Everyone was very helpful and kind.

Also, I heard an employee screech, quietly, that they saw a mouse. I understood because I have lived in homes where the mice were a nightmare to get rid of, no matter how clean you are.”

“This place was in Beloit, and I honestly didn’t expect it to look the way it did. It had a really interesting atmosphere and felt like a classic local tavern.

I ordered the Tuesday special: chicken wings with waffle fries and coleslaw. I also got mozzarella sticks. The food was insanely simple but so delicious. Everything was hot, flavorful, and satisfying.

Overall, I really enjoyed this place and would definitely go back!”

“Our family was passing through and looking for somewhere different to eat. Decide on Doc's. Right away the young lady at the counter was very friendly and accommodating with menu recommendations. Adelina was awesome! Wife and I got the zesty burger, one daughter got the classic and the other the chicken tenders. Food was fabulous. Burgers were cooked perfectly and the zesty burger had amazing flavor! Also not greasy at all. Chicken tenders were cooked perfectly. Both the seasoned fries and regular were very good. Kids got a free ice cream so the adults got some great shakes as a dessert. Definitely a 5 star place and experience!”
