On my most recent visit, I was seated immediately at a corner table, a small but meaningful luxury in an age of hour-long waits. The dining room, typically hushed enough for actual conversation, again delivered one of its underrated pleasures: a peaceful meal without the intrusive din that plagues so many suburban restaurants. Service followed suit—friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help, never hovering or rushing. The kitchen remains the star. My spaghetti with vodka sauce was outstanding—rich, balanced, and among the best renditions I’ve had anywhere in the region. Other entrées at the table echoed the same strengths: sauces with clarity and depth, pastas cooked with confident restraint, portions generous without tipping into excess. Cocktails, too, arrived promptly and properly mixed, further reinforcing the sense of a kitchen-and-bar team that takes pride in their craft. If there is a shortfall, it lies in the ambiance. The room carries a certain charm, but the décor feels a step behind the quality of the food. A refresh of tables, finishes, and overall presentation would elevate the experience from very good to genuinely special. The warmth is there—the aesthetics simply haven’t caught up yet. Even so, the value proposition is undeniable. For reliably excellent Italian cuisine, low noise, easy seating, earnest service, and honest pricing, this restaurant more than earns its “highly recommended” status. It is, in every meaningful way, Lake Villa’s little culinary treasure.“

“This is a solid pizza joint. I’ve ordered delivery 4-5 times. Good ingredients, speedy delivery and consistent results. Plus the delivery guy is a nice guy and seems genuinely proud of the pizza. I compare it to to Rosatis, but I like this better, and that’s with zero shade. In conclusion… if Jimanos is in your neighborhood hood, you should give it a chance. Ps the BLT Pizza was awesome. I feel like I invented it in 2002… But immediately thought it was better than the one I made. Only complaint… Too much bacon. But then I say that out loud and it sounds stupid. You can’t complain about too much bacon. That’s dumb. Everything that was supposed to be crisp was crisp and everything that was supposed to be hot was hot. Almost like a McDLT…“

“Buona Beef in pleasant Prairie has had a few growing pains, but our family has been faithful to keep ordering. They really turned things around for the better in the last several months. “I have been coming to the pizza joint since I was young, everytime I come here there is always the best customer service. When u come to this location it gives a family type of feel, they are willing to make any pizza combination that you want! My personal favorite is the rolled stuffed crust. I’ve tried a lot of pies in this area and nothing comes close, I will definitely be returning frequently.“

“Last weekend was our first time at this fun-loving bar on the water. We went to hear the band Crooked Fences because we have a friend in the band. They serve up bar food - burgers, cheese curds, etc. - and, of course, drinks in a fun atmosphere on the water. There are garage door that open to the dock, so it gives a outdoor vibe. They also have a ferry to Blarney Island that leaves from the bar for $15 round trip. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. A good place for a casual afternoon or evening by the water.“
