“Madras Cafe is an absolute gem of a restaurant! The owner warmly greeted us when we came in. He asked if we had ever eaten there before and when we said no kindly explained the menu. He asked our preferences and made personal recommendations for each member of our group. The food was EXCEPTIONAL! I never write reviews but knew instantly I needed to share my experience. The foods were flavorful and the spices vibrant. I have to mention the coffee. If you are a coffee drinker, then you are about to be ruined for all other coffee. It was smooth and rich. Reminded me of French press but better. The prices are reasonable and fits into any budget. The owner explained how each dish was best eaten and shared a charming story about how his mother's cooking influenced the restaurant's menu. I have never felt so welcome and at home in a restaurant. I highly recommend.“

“Excellent service and food! We were visiting from NC for my husband’s birthday and decided to eat breakfast here before heading to the Packers game. Everyone we encountered from beginning to end was super friendly. The food and pricing were absolutely incredible - even had leftovers for after the game! A special mention to our waitress, Judy, who was top notch and brought out one of their delicious cinnamon rolls as a birthday treat for my husband. Would definitely go back when we visit again! “SANGRIA'S CATERS!!! I've loved Sangria's for their delicious food and incredible service for years so I was delighted for find out the catered while I was planning my wedding. My husband and I sampled A LOT of caterers during this time and found a lot of poor quality food and ridiculous prices. Needless to say, we were psyched when we found out that Sangria's offered catering services. We were even more surprised to find that they had the most affordable prices in the entire Appleton/Oshkosh/Green Bay area. We didn't hesitate to book with them and our fajita bar at our wedding last weekend was incredible. Sarah, the owner, was amazing to work with. She was always responsive and very organized. She and her team flawlessly executed our cocktail hour appetizers and dinner buffet. They also cleaned everything up and packed everything for us to take home at the end of the night. If you are planning a wedding or large event, Sangria's is the BEST. Our guests loved the food and we are so excited for Sangria's left overs.“

“LOVE this restaurant. I wish it was there when I lived in the area 20 yrs ago. I still get there a few times a year. I really enjoy the blackened shrimp tacos. The service has always been wonderful and consistent. The manager stops by the table a QUICK check in. That small touch means so much!! Yesterday I had the lemon cake for dessert friend's had the gluten free chocolate cake. We were all in HEAVEN!! My second time there a couple years ago we had a server who was maybe having an off day. I talked to the manager on my way out & he was sincere & grateful I had let him know.“

“Under new ownership. I ate there with my wife, and my son and his wife. The food and service are excellent, everyone at the table agreed. We all had different dinners, a lot of depth in the menu. The guacamole is absolutely great. I can’t wait to try their food with Margaritas as well, we had flavored tea in the interim. A lot of restaurants are noisy inside yet this was not the case here. Next time we will try eating outdoors.“

“Went for a birthday on a Monday night. Presentation was fabulous. Chef was skilled. Waitress polite. Only one menu for four though. Felt rushed and unwelcome despite no waiting patrons. If I'm dropping over $200 on dinner, I don't want to feel like I have to leave right away.

Parking: Be prepared to walk a ways during weekends. Lots of patrons. Weeknights are less crowded.“

“The food was good, but wasn't worth the price. The steaks are overpriced because of the name. I think the worst part is you spend all that money and the only thing you get is a tiny house salad. For the amount of money you spend you should get standard side dishes. Good but grossly overpriced. It's a place you should go to once to say you have gone.“

“This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Appleton area. However, I was disappointed with the front-desk folks’ lack of creative thinking and can-do attitude. When I called before arriving, I mentioned the number of people in my party and mentioned that I will also need a high chair. He said nothing available inside but patio is open and lots of seats are readily available. When we arrived, he was right, nobody was sitting in the patio. Bad news came after we were taken to our table, “sorry, we don’t have high chair available for at least another hour!” I understand that this may happen, but why do you tell me 5 mins before I arrive that you have everything available? Very disappointing, but this is even more disappointing when it comes from one of my favorite restaurants and I had guests with me.“

However, the shrimp appetizer was fantastic and the other entrees my family had were awesome! Would go back , but probably would order the beef mushroom ragu or a different entree.“

“Brittney B is the best bartender!! She always provides amazing customer service and brings such a fun energy! We used to come in every month for the Bloody Mary of the Month, but a couple weeks ago they changed the mix, it's just not the same. The new version is watered down and lacks flavor. It used to be worth the trip for a great Bloody Mary with all the loaded toppings, but unfortunately, not anymore, at least not until they bring back the original mix.“

“What’s not to love?! Excellent service from a friendly, attentive server. We had a table up front where we could watch one woman making breakfast for every table in the place. At one point she had nine tickets (orders) up. I saw strips of bacon going onto the griddle (not precooked) and my scrambled eggs were obviously individual eggs that were scrambled (not premixed with filler, like restaurants often have). We consider ourselves pancake connoisseurs and these were perfection. They’re served with a small cup of butter (vs many individually wrapped packers) and have a nice crisp to the edge. American fries were likely baked then diced and fried as they were firm but not undercooked. The sausage was juicy and flavorful. I ordered my English muffin toasted “dark” and it came that way. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the coffee drinkers at my table said the coffee was excellent. Everyone loved their food.“

“We enjoyed a couple the beers they had on their current rotation. There were a few we didn't care for. That's perfect because they have something for everyone.
They don't have any food or snacks available and that's a shame. Even a few bags of chips or something would be nice. This is the only complaint.
The bartender was phenomenal, she was knowledgeable about the beers and even suggested a yummy mix. We had wonderful conversations with her.“

“We adore this restaurant. Their lunch special is tasty, served quickly, and a great value. My husband and I have been dining in since we started dating, so we've been happily coming here for 10 years! During the pandemic and with having children, we've switched to takeout more often than not, and it's still great quality. I need to eat GF and they are knowledgeable of how to serve me. This past Saturday we dined in with our babies; they recognized us and were so happy to see and serve our babies, too. The next time we picked up takeout, they returned to us a baby spoon we forgot there: they kept it behind the bar without us asking about it for when they see us again!
