“My husband was told about this place from his boss. We decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. The food was amazing. Went on a Friday and it was packed but got a table right away. The only negative thing I have is, the clam chowder soup could use smaller potatoes and more clams. Other than that the soup is a 5 out of 5 for flavor. The shrimp dinner I got had HUGE breaded shrimp. My husband got the breaded cod, very good. And let's talk about the coleslaw. I haven't had a decent slaw in yrs and this is sooooo good, if you like it creamy. We highly recommend this place. And we will definitely go back.....“
“We had the Friday fish fry options. Lake perch was 2 generous pieces and the combination platter of cod, walleye, perch was also generous portions. All cooked perfect with a good batter (not thick). Seafood bisque was tasty. We would come back.“
“Stopped at Mug-Z's for some lunch and to make use of a certificate. Found it to be an interesting place with good people, friendly service, a great rustic look, machines, nice pool table, darts, and a good number of TVs.I would guess it could get hopping in the evenings and would like to get back there to check it out. Wings were very good, and they have some wing specials on Wednesdays and Sundays. Had a good time for a first time in.“
“We moved from Wisconsin to SC and really miss a good old fashioned Wisconsin fish fry. I’m sure that it’s out of the ordinary, but they were all a little soggy, like they sat longer than they should, or the oil wasn’t hot enough. I had an Old Fashioned also. “Love love love their boneless wings. Lightly breaded and good amount of sauce. Always ask what the specail sauce is, they arent listed on the menu. Very well priced for the food and quality. Fun atmosphere with plenty of Bar space and/or longer high top tables to accomodate a group of adults comfortably. My fav sauce is the greek freak (bufflo/feta). Anytime we are in the area its a must stop for us.“
“Love these little old school pubs just sitting there at a 4way stop. Been here since tge 60's. Bartender was spot on, friendly and quick service. One of the locals told me tgat the Prime Rib can't be beat (served on Mondays) and if you order steal tacos on Thursday, they use the left over Prime Rib. Hard to beat that. Very friendly regulars, and even bought me a shot. I will be back to try the food and will update my review.Parking: Small lot with a lot of cars. But you can be creative to make a spot.“
“I have been to Backstreet quite a bit over the last 40 years I lived in Waukesha. Always pretty steady with good drinks, food and service. Their Friday fish options really cannot be matched in the area with both baked and fried and I've never had one I didn't like. I had to give a review as last Friday night we went with friends and for some reason, there was a mix up and the other 5 at the table got their food and mine didn't come. It was noticed right away and immediately I had one of the owners come and apologize and even offer me soup while I waited. It did take a little bit but what made it right for me was that she checked in yet again and our server came over as well and owned the fact that he had made a mistake. What impressed me was the fact that it was important to them to make it right. In a world where so many could care less, make excuses or just plain not acknowledge, I appreciate those who will just look you in the eye, speak the truth and apologize. It was a busy night, waiters were hopping and I appreciate what they do when I know they are putting all they have into it. I felt like I had the best dinner... No corners cut, hot and made to perfection!“
“Food was delicious but a little bit too greasy for us. The tartar sauce was different. I would suggest maybe putting a tiny bit of macintosh apple in there. The coleslaw was not sweet what I'm used to. It was very sour so I don't know if it's supposed to taste like that or if it was old. My son wanted to try the chicken tenders but they don't serve them on the same days as fish fries. My son ended up getting the last burger. They were all out after that. Not sure if this happens often but I felt bad for the people that came in after us that left because they were there for burgers. Service was a little slow. The atmosphere was a little too dark for us. Overall I give this a four star.“
“Parking is difficult now that a new company took away the extra parking. Went there twice in the last couple months the and couldn't find any parking. Had to go elsewhere. They have the best blue gill and potatoes pancakes. They also have a peanuty popper bacon wrapped. Oh yum!“
“This was our first time trying Braun’s Power House. We ordered a couple fish fry’s to go and were not disappointed! The food was excellent, 3 good size pieces of fried cod, delicious batter and flavor on the cod, great fries, great tarter and coleslaw. I wouldn’t hesitate to grab a fish fry from here again!“

“We ordered the battered cod and half the fish was pollack and the other was cod. The pollack was so fishy tasting the dog wouldn't even eat it. It went down the garbage disposal. Fries were overcooked, almost burnt. Salad was all leaves, no tomato except for 2 tiny pieces.The bun was the best of the whole meal.Tally's has always been our go to for fish fries. Always excellent. Hopefully our next visit will be better or we'll be on the hunt for a new place.“

“Nice place, but a bit pricey. Also another place that charges their customers to use credit/debit cards. It is funny how years ago they wanted credit card usage to avoid having cash on hand and now they can change you for using plastic.Update... The fees have been the same forever. The difference is, in the past the company receiving the credit card absorbed the cost. Now you want your customer to pay you to do business with you. I think that is a step to far.“
“This was a perfect place to meet a friend for lunch. Our food arrived hot and our server was gracious and pleasant. We felt no need to hurry but we're able to longer and enjoy a good visit with one another. It was my first visit to The Local but it won't be my last. Be careful, though, as you may miss it because, at first glance, it looks like a house! BTW, the fries are outstanding!“
