My husband and I had Karubees for dinner. He had curry chicken and I had jerk chicken. The sides were cabbage, mac and cheese, and rice. Chicken so tender it fell off the bone and so very tasty. As you can see in the picture, I couldn't wait for my husband to shoot the pic before I had a bite. I love that her husband picks up all ingredients instead of having them shipped so they are always fresh. I highly recommend you give it a try if you like Jamaican food.
Karubees is a wonderful, family owned, Jamaican eatery with freshly made items that hit the spot. From the OxTail, rice / bean, cabbage, to the Jerk Chicken - it’s delicious! So happy to have another option in H-Town.

Karubees Jamaican Restaurant, Inc. is located in the Market, a standalone food court two blocks from Pullman Square. The restaurant serves Jamaican soul food halal plates. The menu has a large amount of Halal designating sprinkled throughout. Some sides may be vegetarian, but none of the entrees are.
The food is absolutely incredible. The service is fast and great. The oxtails are on point. The greens are so good some nearly cried. The jumbo jerk shrimp are well worth the trip. The Jerk Chicken is perfect, tender, juicy and flavored perfectly. The Curry Goat is well seasoned and very tender, with a unique curry that is neither Thai nor Indian. It comes with two sides. The mac and cheese is perfectly done, cheesy as Chester. The rice and peas are the best part, with a fluffiness that perfected the two ingredient bedrock of southern food. The rice and beans are done perfectly. It is slow cooked and they sell out early because it is so delicious, so get there early to ensure the dish wanted.
