“A Taste of Big City Dining in Small Town AmericaMy wife and I recently ventured into the heart of Fort Ashby, WV to indulge in what we heard was a hidden gem of culinary delight. It was our first time dining there, and as we sat down, I couldn't help but think we should have discovered this place much sooner. Nestled in the quaint charm of small-town America, this restaurant offered a dining experience that rivaled those of big city fine establishments.FOOD:I opted for the Lemon Pepper Salmon accompanied by a baked potato and applesauce. From the first bite, I knew I was in for something special. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning was spot on. Having dined in various locations across the country, I can confidently say that this dish surpassed many I've tried, even those on the famed Las Vegas Strip. The flavors were exquisite, and every element of the meal spoke of freshness and attention to detail.SERVICE:Despite the bustling atmosphere upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly, albeit with a short wait. The slight delay in receiving our food was understandable, given the evident care taken to prepare each dish to order. Throughout our meal, the attentive staff made sure we were well taken care of, with multiple servers checking in on us. Such exceptional service deserved more than the standard tip; I happily marked off the 25% option on the bill.ATMOSPHERE:As we settled into our seats, I couldn't help but appreciate the comfortable ambiance surrounding us. The décor resembled that of a scaled-down Cracker Barrel, but with a touch of sophistication. The music played in the background enhanced the dining experience, setting just the right tone without overpowering conversation. The layout of the restaurant was conducive to easy navigation, and the overall atmosphere contributed to a thoroughly enjoyable evening. In conclusion, this restaurant is more than worth the journey, even if it means driving a couple of hours to reach it. My wife and I found ourselves wishing we had discovered it sooner, but we're grateful for the memorable dining experience it provided. If you're in search of exceptional food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further than this hidden gem in Fort Ashby. Trust me; you won't be disappointed.“

“Food:My recent visit to The Humming Bird left me thoroughly impressed. Opting for the classic burger and fries, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal. The burger exceeded my expectations with its fresh-cooked meat and perfectly toasted bun. The attention to detail was evident in every bite, from the thinly sliced pickles to the flavorful, freshly cut fries. It's rare to find such care put into every aspect of a meal, and I left feeling satisfied and eager to return. For those seeking the best dining experience in the Cumberland area, look no further than The Humming Bird, even if it means crossing the river into Wiley Ford, WV.Service:The service at The Humming Bird was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted, and the attentive wait staff wasted no time in informing us of the specials. Throughout the meal, they checked on us regularly, ensuring that our needs were met and our drinks were promptly refilled. The efficiency and friendliness of the staff only added to the overall dining experience, making us feel welcome and valued as patrons.Atmosphere:What sets The Humming Bird apart is its unique location at the airport, providing diners with a one-of-a-kind dining experience. As we enjoyed our meal, we were treated to the sight of gliders soaring overhead and the occasional medivac helicopter taking off—a constant reminder of the bustling activity outside. The atmosphere was lively and exciting, offering a perfect blend of great food and captivating views. Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, The Humming Bird delivers on all fronts.Overall, The Humming Bird is more than just a restaurant—it's an experience. With its exceptional food, top-notch service, and unbeatable atmosphere, it's a must-visit for anyone in the area. “Love the Hog Heaven Nachos. So delicious! Generous blend of sweet with a little heat pulled pork and nacho cheese with homemade tortilla chips. Very friendly staff! Reasonable prices. Also love the Reuben and Rachel, made with fresh slices of real turkey, not lunchmeat. Delicious!“

“We love a good hometown breakfast and this place hits the nail on the head. I commend them for their quality food.. homemade biscuits, pancakes with a crisp edge, and no slippery oiled eggs like the chain restaurants have. Sausage Gravy was flavorful and also homemade, not from a can. Sausage patties also look hand pattied and not brought in frozen. Everything was cooked perfectly. All that and it is fairly priced!Could use some new seats but that doesn't matter... the food matters.“
“Very local bar. Everyone stared at me the the first time I went, but ultimately all were welcoming and I made a few friends. Surprisingly good wings on wing night (Monday).... they take a while to prepare because of the line but good excuse to relax with a beer.“

“Just had dinner there tonight. The food is always tasty and thervixe is always excellent. Our server tonight was Hooe and she did a phenomenal job!Wheelchair accessibility: I'm happy to report that Ruby's is well laid out for wheelchair users. Easy to maneuver, with enough space around tables to prevent feeling crowded together even with the chair. Curbless handicap parking right in front makes getting inside a breeze! Absolutely recommend this restaurant!“

“We were in Cumberland, MD on only one night prior to biking the C&O Canal Towpath to WDC; thus were wanting a hearty meal. Our front desk hotel staff both unequivocally recommended City Lights, and we're Grateful they did! What a Wonderful dinner, both in Quality and Value! Come to dinner hungry! While their carmelized bussel sprout appetizer was Delicious, unless you are a Big eater know you will likely be taking (Wonderful) leftovers home.“

“It's not a restaurant per se, in that they don't have set hours, more of a supper club. Their weekly hours and rotating menu are posted on their Facebook page and should be checked ahead of time. Reservations are recommended. The food is gourmet and delicious every time, and while the price is commensurate, I've always had a great meal and friendly service. They add a great dining option to a community with a paucity of such so I hope they continue to thrive.“

“We love to eat here, food is good, but we always get the same server with a attitude, she charged us $22 for pitcher of domestic beer, when we asked about the price she said it was still cheaper than buying by the glass, it was only $11 the week before! We also were walking by when people were dining outside, and she told another server she wasn’t waiting on that table because they are only going to order drinks! Mid 40’s blonde, we tip very well, but she needs to find a job she likes, and maybe your business will pick up, I know we will come back more!“

“They have a very good sloppy Joe with big portions. The prices are decent. Everyone was nice, both the waitress and the customers. The restaurant had a birthday cake for a frequent customer and gave away the extra slices after the party left. The atmosphere isn't bad, but there's a lot on walls and it's kind of distracting.“

“I love the new sauce they use for pizzas. The owner is awesome and I'm definitely not biased. The service is always great and as fast as possible . Make sure you specify any changes to your order . This is a family owned business'. And I always order when in town.“
