BTR Pinoy Restaurant Filipino • $

“I love this place. Owner and workers are awesome. But I have to give them 4 stars. I was there this morning and one of the customers in front of me was vigorously scratching his hands and body then placed his arms on the shelf above the food. When I told him not to do that because it's UNSANITARY. He then blew up and the workers made it look like it was my fault. That's fine, because maybe they didn't see what happened. I am no beside myself on reporting this to the heath department.“

JP Goods Fresh Bakery and Fresh Boba Bakery • $
1336 West Willow Street Suit #105, Long Beach

“Ordered combo #2 to go. The combo consists of 2-shrimp spring rolls, fries, and iced Thai tea with no boba. Spring rolls: Each roll is individually wrapped, and they are made to order. The dipping sauce is a fish sauce with chili. This is a great dish for hot summer days. Fries: Also freshly made and seasoned with salt. Thai tea: Tasted not too sweet and very creamy. Ambiance: Mom and Pop shop with a lot to offer, bakery, Vietnamese dishes, Vietnamese sandwiches, fruits, frozen egg rolls, etc. Staffs are nice. Price: The combo I got only $9 which I think is unbeatable. Overall: This place is a hidden gem, will definitely come back and try other food!“

Poke Plus Hawaiian •
1422 W Willow St, Long Beach

“I was craving poke and found out about this place through Yelp. Came here during my lunch break and it's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Nice ambiance inside, felt like a hole in the wall place. They had a good variety of poke flavors to choose from. I decided to get two flavors which came with rice. I choosed spicy mayo and Hawaiian limu (similar to shoyu). For $15, they gave me a good portion of rice and poke. The poke tasted fresh and the dressings all tasted good. Overall, a good solid poke place, would come back again!“

“Before I go shopping at a Filipino mkt, I try to eat at the deli first. This practice allows me to indulge in Flip food that is not prevalent in HB. It also prevents me from buying too much. This PhilHouse is located inside the LBC Island Pacific, similar to the set up in Lake Forest. They offer a lot of hot items inc goat, and their popular combo is two bbq skewers (chicken or pork), w/ rice, pancit or half & half and one side dish. The items we had were very good. The pork skewers (sorry, no pic) were nicely seasoned and the meat was tender. The rice & pancit portion was enuf for two, and the sinigang we had as a side was tart, and inc a pompano head. Lastly, the lechon kawali was crispy and the meat was moist. The staff was nice and there is a small area to enjoy your food. But a rec to help sell more items, and to get the line moving faster is to label the items, and have a menu that tells you what sides are inc in the combo. The person helping us assembled the bbq skewers portion of our meal. But then he disappeared. The cashier was left to fill our lechon order. We would have ordered more had there been dedicated staff to fill the other sides we were interested in. All in all, a positive experience that would make me return. I think the LBC Island Pacific will be my go to for Flip foodstuffs bc it is so conveniently located off the 405.“

“I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Ron, at a nonprofit event where Teofilo had a booth. While I initially was drawn in by the aroma, I lingered to hear the story of his business and the history of Filipino coffee, which added depth to the experience. The bold, unique flavor of their coffee sets them apart from chain coffee shops, leaving a memorable impression that ensures future visits whenever I'm in the area. Teofilo is not just a coffee shop; it's a cultural journey with each sip.“
