“This place took over what used to be Pot & Spicy. The interior is pretty much the same - nice and simple. The food offerings was a bit similar to before. We ordered a few skewers and a bowl of Beef Golden Soup to share. The server was friendly and quick to get our order in. The bacon needle mushroom and beef skewers were tasty, as well as the chicken heart skewers. The popcorn chicken could have used a better batter, in my opinion. It was more of a panko coat to it and needed more spice to it. The Beef Golden Soup was flavorful, and I enjoyed it.“

“Was in town for a few days and came in for lunch. First time at this spot though I've been to Han Oak before. Lunch was really excellent. I went with the Ban Chan side dishes, a dol sot bowl of rice, and split the Korean fried chicken with one wing of each flavor (essence of ramen and sweet and spicy) The ban chan was quite good, especially the marinated spinach. The wings were also excellent. Beautiful crunch and flavor. One order plus the sides was enough for lunch (for me, at least). My only disappointment was the dol sot rice. It wasn't actually dol sot. There was no fried crunch on the bottom, probably because it wasn't actually cooked in this pot. Just served that way. Felt a little unnecessary. Just a side of rice will do. Service was excellent. Sat at the bar and my bartender was kind and sweet. Was lovely to be back in PDX. Will come back for lunch next time I return.“

“Absolutely delicious chicken! Just the right amount of crispy-ness and crunch. Awesome sauces to try and something for everyone's taste. We've tried them all and keep going back to the bulgogi. But the garlic parmasean (one of the new offerings) is a new favorite! It's a bonus that besides the great food that the staff is friendly, the service is fast and the restaurant is clean and tidy. I'd say that the only downside is the size of the establishment. If you have more than 2-3 people, get the food to go. It's too small to eat there. There are some picnic tables outside but unless it's summer, it's not really feasible to utilize them.“

We ordered the appetizer combo and chicken satay to start. I had the evil jungle noodle medium spicy. It was as delicious as I remember. One of my friends had the tom yum with shrimp and said they were very pleased with it. Good prices for downtown and generous portions. Great service! Definitely recommend this place! Parking can be tricky as it sits on a busy corner of 2 one-way streets, but if you dont mind walking a block or 2, youll be fine.“

“The brother at Khao Niew told us to check out his sister's restaurant here- and here we are for dinner. Lemme tell y'all... This was my favorite restaurant we ate while we were in Portland for a week!!! The food is AMAZING, it's as authentic as it can get. The spice level, the flavor, the portion - just done right!!! The nam khao 5/5 - the crispiness with the nam was perfect- the portion was so big I couldn't finish it but omg, this was one of the best nam khao I've had. The khao piak 5/5 - my all time fav comfort food. The broth is amazing, the noodle makes the broth thicken up, put a little bit of chili oil to give it that "umph" ; just writing this review makes me crave for it again lol. The Lao Sample Platter for 2 consists of : papaya salad, sien savanh (heavenly lao jerky), lao sausage, soft boil egg, pork rinds, rice noodles and sticky rice.. we weren't going to order this but my fiance wanted to try everything and see if it meets up with his expectations.... And it sure did!!!! The papaya salad is spicy, that good spice that makes you want more- tip, put the vermicelli noodles in the papaya salad, trust me. The beef jerky was so crispy yet so tender, hard to explain but it was just done right. I love the fried meatballs, simple yet so good when you're eating it with sticky rice and papaya salad. The Lao sausage was my fiancé's favorite, he said it was just like home. The service was quick. You order at the counter first. They have a nice patio section too. They also sold beef jerky - the kind in the bags. We bought two of it lol All in all, amazing experience. We'll be back when we're visiting again!!!“

“This is a restaurant as well as a tea house and their food is delicious; some of the best I’ve ever had. The majority of their menu is gluten free and everything is clearly marked so you know what you’re getting. Service was quick, smooth, and the young man taking my order was kind and patient when I asked some questions. One of my questions was about the sweet sesame balls, which I didn’t end up ordering. When we were leaving, he ran after us and handed me a packet with a sesame ball, on the house. (It was different and also delicious!) The bill for my son and I came to $46 before tip, and we took leftovers home because the portions are pretty big. I will definitely be going here again.“

“I have eaten ramen from food carts in Shanghai, and the famous Kodawari Ramen in Paris, in New York and Berlin, in Toronto and London and Belmont Kitchen's Dan Dan is one of the best bowls of ramen I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Sweet and salty and spicy, the perfect harmony of sesame, garlic, onion, ginger, turmeric, and shitake all make the most buttery umami broth I've ever had, just the right amount of heat. It's perfect on a damp Portland evening, eaten under the little lot tent, lit by a neon open sign. It's an entire beautiful vibe around this perfectly beautiful dish. The dumplings, and sushi rolls are also delicious, consistently well made, but the next best thing on the menu is the inari. I could not recommend this little unassuming cart enough - the host is also lovely and warm, making every visit feel special as well as nourishing ( and the egg is always perfect. How do they do that??) .“

“We were in the mood for Thai food so we headed over to Eem where the wait was over an hour. We didn't care where we had Thai food as long as we got to have thai food so we called Khao San Pearl and they said they could take us in half an hour so by the time we drove over and parked we were immediately seated. The waiter told us we had just missed a busy rush (I think they have a popular happy hour from 3pm-6pm & we got there after 7pm) This is definitely a more casual spot. The tuk tuk in the middle of the restaurant is very cute. We had a bunch of items but the standouts for me were the spring rolls, the Thai Tea made with coconut milk and the crying tiger. It's not very often you can taste the actual earl grey tea your thai tea is made with. I love me a good spring roll because I always feel like it's the most filling and makes me feel like I had my full serving of required vegetables for the meal. The crying tiger was sooooooo good. I would do unethical things to get this dish again!“
