“First of all, wow! Best poke bowls I’ve ever had. My friend and I came here and ordered the Tomyum Salmon Poke and the Aburi Salmon Don, along with some baked mussels. The fish is so fresh and they even give you free miso soup with every bowl and a little utensil bag with a hand towel and toothpick. I also recommend the onigiri (perfect snack). I’ll definitely be back soon!“

“Found this spot via Instagram and it lives up to the hype. Tons of unique rolls to choose from as well as plenty of non-sushi appetizers and entreés like Udon. The sashimi and tamari (nigiri) was very fresh and delicious. We will definitely come back to try the set courses. Sake list is small but there are options for everyone, ranging from dry to sweet, and they have a good selection of Japanese wiskeys. Our server, Becca, was kind and very helpful for our first time experience. (pictured) bluefin akami, bluefin otoro, and hamachi tamari, Blazer and Salmon Twist rolls.“

“Best sushi in Portland hands down. Fish quality and selection is always 10/10. Chefs are the real deal and are so fun to watch (highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar).Dietary restrictions: They always ask you as soon as you walk in whether you have any restrictions.“

“This might be the best poke bowl I've ever had! I opted for brown rice, salmon & scallops, ginger infused soy sauce, and jalapenos. The seasoning and sauce added to the poke bowl - it did not dominate the taste. The generous portions of salmon and scallops were very fresh. The whole bowl was very filling. Growing up on Oahu, I've had my share of poke bowls. This was definitely the best poke bowl I've had here in the Pacific Northwest and maybe even the best poke bowl I've ever had.“

“Had a lovely early dinner here before a show at Moda on a Thursday. Service was prompt, extremely knowledgeable, and everyone was so kind and helpful. I have the palate of a five year old child so I stuck to the basics but the others in my party had much more elaborate selections that they loved! All around delicious and fresh dishes, plus you can balance out your meal with some donuts, right next door ?“

“The Hotate or Sea Scallop sushi with yuzu pepper marmalade was out this world good. We also ordered the Guac N' Roll & French Quarter Roll. Excellent flavors. We didn't even need soy sauce. The Guac N' Roll has a unique presentation and the roll was balance & on point. I will recommend Yoshi to anyone interested in sushi!“

“Fish & Rice is a quaint neighborhood sushi joint with fresh fish daily and specials highlighting said fish. They frequently feature decadent poke bowls that are truly a work of art. While they may not be the most affordable sushi in town, their quality is phenomenal. They have a few tables for indoor dining and sometimes outdoor seating if the weather allows. It is counter service with self-serve water and utensils, but the waiter was kind and friendly. When we went, he was bussing, delivering, and taking orders. We got the neskowin roll, toro roll, and salmon poke bowl. The fish was so fresh!! It just melted in my mouth, and you can taste the quality. Presentation was beautiful, and you can tell they treat sushi as art. Their dishes allow the fish to speak for itself; nothing is drenched in sauce or extra frills. Cozy and homey, Fish & Rice is a gem in NW Portland. Forgo the other chain sushi joints in Portland, and bid them a visit!“

“Fantastic place for sushi. Many unique rolls more than we could choose so we will be back. Exceptionally friendly service. Very clean and well thought out atmosphere. Third sushi place I've been to on this side of town and this is the only one I'll keep coming back to.“

“Hands down the best dinner experience I had on my trip to Portland - and I went to Han Oak be Laangbaan so really the bar was high! Intimate but approachable setting, great service, and quality fish. Our chef was thoughtful and informative without being too overbearing, and we were able to have a nice family meal while learning about the ingredients and engaging with the experience. Would recommend and will be back! Not cheap but worth the price point.“

“This place is literally everything. The best sushi in town, for sure. But more than that, every time we walk in, Alex makes us feel warm and welcome. We have had an amazing experience every time we walk in that door. We've always loved Bamboo, but since Alex joined the team at this location, it's like walking into a warm hug. The staff is attentive, smiling, and helpful. The food is OUTSTANDING. As a chef from NYC, it's the best sushi I've ever had outside of the city (and probably even better!) Alex goes above and beyond to make her guests and her staff feel comfortable and happy. Only 5 stars because I can't give it 6. Eat here or you will regret it.“

“Decided to try this place today on a whim based on other reviews and am so thankful I did. A group of us ordered a variety of rolls as well as the chicken bento box for delivery. Every single item we ate was amazing and it was very apparent it was all made with high quality ingredients and dedication to making amazing flavorful food. Food came delivered in thoughtful packaging, great presentation, and we received lots of ginger, soy, and wasabi which was great!!! Will definitely be making this my go to sushi spot from now on!“

“stopped by for late lunch and tried their bento based on the great reviews (lunch pricing ends at 3pm). the food was super fresh and yummy! ordering is via QR code on the tables. the server was kind and checked on us. sashimi and sushi were fresh. the spicy chicken serving was probably twice the size of what i usually get in a bento. i ended up bringing most of the chicken & rice home and had them for dinner. this meal fed me all day!“

“We had the hotel california and the ocean bounty way. They both tasted great and each one would be more than enough for a meal for one person.I really hope enough people discover this place to keep it in business - there are a lot more rolls I want to try!“

“Service was lovely and quick. I chose to sit outside. They have a little parking lot which is nice but also nice to get takeout and order ahead! Per some other yelpers suggestions, I ordered the nigiri lunch set C - you get a choice of half a roll, too. I chose the spicy tuna (which was not a chopped situation). All in all the fish was fresh and plentiful. I was only slightly disappointed that my rice was falling apart and the outside tables were really sticky. I will be back, though - likely for takeout.“

“Clean, cute sushi shop with friendly service and interesting sushi rolls. Rolls are large and portions are generous, though a bit heavy on the rice. Seating available for dine in, though we saw many customers ordering take out. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would consider coming again!“

“Such a great place for local sushi. They have a reasonable selection of rolls, fresh fish, fresh rice, and a kind hostess. This is a place I treat my family when we're all desperate for salmon nigiri. I recommend trying one of their house special rolls if you want something fried, something decadent, or something a little out there (King Kong roll).“

“Love love love EVERYTHING about Sushi Mazi. Food, absolutely delicious! My most favorites are classic aged ahi tuna, blue fin tuna top with black garlic, salmon skin appetizer and sushi salad. Will be able to stop in Portland without coming here. I understand why they have so many regulars, the staffs and owners are so warm and wonderful. Recommend trying their wide range of sake. Cheers!“

“I would love to give this place five stars. They're are often not open during their scheduled business hours. I've been here multiple times in the last few weeks at 12:00, which is when they say they open yet they are closed. I'm sitting here right now at 12:15 and their food truck is closed.“

“We have enjoyed Yoko's sushi for almost 20 years. The fish is always fresh, and the combinations are delicious. We love Taka's Tuna, Hamachi nigiri, Thai roll and Samon nigiri. I recommend arriving early, sitting at the sushi bar and watching Yoko work. Try some of the affordable sakes available. We've enjoyed every one we tried.“

“Last week I was at the Convention Center for a conference, and a few of us came here for lunch. I ordered a combo platter for lunch, which included a Salmon Belly skewer. “Seriously the freshest and tastier sushi I found in Portland! Loved the Chirachi Bowl I got, came with salmon, tuna, white fish, shrimp, octopus, avocado and a few other stuff. Lots of rice too, good portion for the price! Can’t wait to try more things from their menu!“

“Mirakutei is one of our go-to’s for sushi, and never disappoints. This last time though, we ordered take out, and although it was delicious, one of our rolls was incorrect. I’m not even sure which one they gave us, but it was supposed to be the Burnside Bridge Roll. Kinda disappointed we got something we didn’t ask for.“

“Sushi burrito? That may not sound appealing at first (it didn’t to me) but Rollin Fresh gets it right. This is not your typical sushi place but that’s what makes it special. Instead of ordering and eating sushi piece by little piece, they put a lot of sushi together for you and wrap it so you can eat it like a burrito. This is an excellent and surprisingly good Portland find.“

“Came here for my moms birthday recently and had a great time! Nice ambiance, loved sitting by the window and people watching. Quick and friendly service from the staff and our server gave us good recommendations of dishes to try. We started with their tempura, (definitely add more shrimp they were perfection!) and shishitos that had a nice miso sauce. Then we had several types of nigiri, the scallop was my favorite and a few maki, of which I loved their rip city that had spicy tuna, shishito tempura, avocado, topped with hamachi, green onion, habanero masago, finished with garlic ginger ponzu. Both of the chefs plates we tried were good, but of the tuna tataki and king salmon den, the salmon was by far my favorite dish of the night. Did not end up ordering dessert as we had birthday cake at home, but our server still brought my mom a candle to blow out lol.“

“Sushi and small plate restaurant in the west side downtown area. The sushi rolls here are quite tasty, and the crunchy rice is better than most places. The ingredients all taste quite fresh which can make or break good sushi, but overall it’s nothing mind blowing. The garlic chicken was pretty mediocre. The tempura vegetables were nice and lightly fried, the sauce provided was adequate.Overall I’m glad that I tried it out, but considering the pricing to quality ratio I can say that I’m glad I went but I wouldn’t go again.“

“Love their delicious sushi! The staff and location are great too, and the only reason that this review is four stars instead of five is that the hours need to be updated. I showed up once at 11, their stated open time, and they were still closed, and when I called they said they would be open at 11:30. I called ahead the most recent time, and they also said they'd be open at 11:30. Not a huge deal if you're aware of this, but can be an inconvenience if you expect them to be open at 11.“

“Bamboo sushi is arguably the best sushi and experience in Portland. Rolls and sashimi are excellent, but don't miss the wagyu burger. “Love this place! The sushi offers pretty generous portions of fish. So far, its the best sushi we've found in the area. All the options are delicious and taste fresh. The salmon melts in your mouth. Our favorite is the TNT roll; it comes piled real high with crab and tuna.Decided to write this review when I ordered from the Powell location online and was called within a few minutes of placing my order by the other location. They apologized and said that the Powell location was doing a catered event and wasn't able to do any takeout that night, but they would make my order and deliver it to my door for free. They worked as fast as they could and got it to my front door at the same time it was originally supposed to be ready, even though the delivery person had to drive all the way across the city. Their customer service was absolutely great! Also, the sushi was soooo good!Just really appreciate these guys. Definitely our go-to sushi spot in town. Also, if you haven't been in the market that this store is located within, it's worth a look. They have everything there, and you'll for sure end up walking out with something!“

“My whole family loves this place! The sushi burritos are fresh and flavorful, kid friendly (my 7yo loves the Hawaiian Roll with mango in it), and they also serve some delicious rolls you can order on the side. We're so happy to have this in our neighborhood, and it's the main reason we visit this food cart pod.“

“Food is amazing but the website is so difficult to use. It makes it basically impossible to pick up a custom burrito or bowl. Also their hours aren’t accurate so there have been times I walked all the way over thinking they were open and they weren’t. I’ll keep coming but I’d love if y’all could fix this stuff!“

“Partner brought me here for my birthday dinner. It was an incredible experience purely based on the fact that I have never had that quality of sushi before. We definitely paid top price for it, but if you're willing, it's worth it.Later on in the meal a group came in that was way too loud, which was unfortunate cause the restaurant had a quiet, zen like atmosphere to it prior. Even so, great spot.“

“We love sushi… coming from Hawaii. I wasn’t expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality & variety of fish. Their hamachi & salmon toro was delicious…I’d say it’s comparable to Masu but 1/2 the price. So you’re looking to down some sushi and not break the wallet. This is perfect.“

“This place is magnificent. The atmosphere is exactly what I look for in a place, but most almost importantly is the delicious sushi that they craft in the kitchen. The Unicorn role is truly a Unicorn, I've never found such an exquisite tasting role of sushi. I don't know what they do with that thing, but it's actually a flavorful experience I can only get from a fine dining restaurant. So many complexities that exist within that role. The green machine is another favorite. Whatever goes into making that sauce is just delicious!Just as important is the service. Jared that works behind the bar has always been so incredible. He is a genuinely kind guy and cares about you as if you'r e one of his closest friends (and this is only my second time having him as a server at the bar in the past year!). I'm so glad he still works at bamboo sushi because I remembered his warm welcoming and service from the last time I was there. The only thing that has kept me from coming here more often is the price of sushi, but I can say that the price is justified. I also think that they either dropped the prices since the last time I came there . . . Or I can now afford it, not sure!I always talk VERY highly of Bamboo Sushi and it's my #1 recommendation for Sushi when people visit Portland and it's because of your trifecta of delicious food, incredible staff, and wonderful ambience.Vegetarian options: Green Machine“

“We have been coming here for years. The quality of the food is always good and the service friendly. They still make us things for us that are no longer on the menu. They have some very good lunch options. Prices have increased (haven't they everywhere) but the quality has remained high.“

“Still one of the best values for lunch downtown. Good portions and everything I have had over the years has been delicious. Favorites of mine would be asparagus chicken and mushrooms chicken.Only downsides is one man show cooked to order so can be slow when busy, still in a part of town that need some clean up and cart itself is not pretty so easy to overlook.“

“Takahashi has been around in SE Portland for many years, We finally came on a Wednesday evening to try it out and got seated right away. On Wednesdays, many different type of sushi are at a discounted price. We tried nigiris and handroll, and rolls. My personal favorite is the hamachi nigiri!! It will literally melt in your mouth. The sushi was fresh and flavorful and I love the presentation. the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and was huge! There was a bar seating area and multiple tables to sit at. “We were walking through the neighborhood on our way to the bus and saw this really interesting pod at the corner of Division and 35th. Since we were hot and it was lunch time we decided to try LETS ROLL and are thrilled that we did. We had the Very Vegan Burrito. I couldn't understand why Bo asked us if we wanted wasabi and ginger (again, I was hot and hungry and obviously not paying attention) so we said sure. The burrito was outstanding and the wasabi was just the kick to put it over the edge! When I went back to tell them how wonderful it was I got a side of Taro Chips and Guac, and must admit to being a little leery about having ginger in my guac. It had to be the best guac I've had in a long, long time! Bottom line, super good food, seriously nice people - can't wait to go back again!“

“Truly a gem! As a college student near Woodstock, I've walked by this spot so many times but never bothered to check it out as I already had some go-to sushi spots. However, after a sushi craving one day I decided to try it out. I ordered the sashimi super deluxe and nigiri deluxe combinations to-go and they were both delicious. The fish was fresh, cuts were big, and the variety was amazing. So, I decided to stop by the restaurant fairly recently. I came with my boyfriend for lunch and got their tempura udon, chicken karaage, and a variety of nigiri. The tempura udon and karaage portions were huge. The udon was light, sweet, and delicious, and the tempura was crispy and fried perfectly. The karaage was also a generous portion, with amazing sauce, and a small salad. And, the nigiri was once again amazing. So sad I didn't find this spot sooner as it's so delicious. And, the service is always super sweet, fast, and I love supporting these people.“

“Life is short! Please treat yourself kindly and get a reservation to this place! I sat at the sushi bar and I really enjoyed watching the master chef skillfully prepare some exquisite food, every action was like carefully orchestrated! Not only did he have to create an edible delicacy out of chunky piece of fish, but also turn it into a piece of art, from selecting the plate, to adding all the fine details onto the fish, the subtle flavors and the harmony! And I got to watch it all happen in front of my eyes! This place is near where I live, so the situation is quite dangerous now, lol!“
