“First time here and it didnt disappoint! Only thing was, the rice and chicken (from fajita) could have been more seasoned.
Our waitress, it was her birthday, and she was the sweetest thing! We asked for the spicest sauce they had, and i wish we couldve gone hotter! Thanks for a great time and Happy Bday!

“The food here was amazing.. They prepared my food fast but the only problem I had is when I came in with my Service dog, which had Service dog jacket on was told that I had to leave. I told him she was a service dog and he said he didn’t care and I told him that he might have the ADA down here if he doesn’t let me order some food and go then he let me come in and get my food. My dog was properly marked with a jacket service dog maybe they need to be educated about Service dog in the ADA.“

“I’m way behind in offering a recommendation for the Homewood location of Maya. Between there and the Alabaster location, my Mexican food cravings are more than covered and they are always patient with my substitutions and the like. Service is top-notch and the food is excellent. Highly recommended!“

“Best tacos hands down. Tacos are always packed with lots of meat and served w/ grilled nopales (cactus) and cebollita taquera(green onion). They give you green and red salsa bottles to take to your table to enjoy throughout your meal. For drinks they offer Jarritos or agua frescas. Aside from tacos they also have quesadillas, pambazos, burritos, etc.“

“We’ve eaten here multiple times, and every single visit has been exceptional—not just the food, but the service as well. The staff is consistently attentive, and you can tell they genuinely want every guest to enjoy their meal to the fullest.
What sets El Barrio apart is the flavor. They offer dishes you’d expect from a Mexican restaurant, but each one has a unique twist that elevates it far beyond the ordinary. The flavor profiles are layered, creative, and absolutely delicious.
The salsa alone has incredible depth—rich, complex, and addictive. The queso has a standout flavor that sets it well above the typical dips found at most restaurants. And whatever you do, don’t skip the seasonal guacamole—it’s fresh, inventive, and always a standout.
And then there’s dessert… the chocolate pot de crème is simply out of this world. I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve ever had.
I’ve eaten at restaurants all over North America and Europe, and El Barrio has to be my favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere. That says everything.“

All I can say is come early for a table it’s only 9:30 & it’s standing room only! Great DJ, food, & drinks….i had the pleasure of meeting the owner who gave me a little history about the business! Must visit yall thank me later especially if you enjoy an older, mature, crowd! FYI!! I spent $10 on fish & fries… my Long Islands were $8 each can’t beat it, owner purchased 1… I can’t wait for my friends to come from Atlanta so we can show out 🤣“

“Great service! Pool tables, their sex on the beach the best! I love their breaded shrimp, bistec ala mexicana, pizza puffs w fries (only place that carries these in town), and honestly all their tacos are great! Great place to cash a few beers and chill, very mexican authebtic place has juke box playing most of time and always has soccer games on the screen if anyone is playing. Beautiful waitresses also everytime I go.
Kid-friendliness: They do serve alcohol but Ive been taking my kids their for years with my wife. Very kid friendly.
Wheelchair accessibility: Their is a side walk ramp in middle of parking lot and no obsticles after that.“
