“Finally found as close to a Chicago dog as it gets in Bham. Wonderful flavor, all beef hotdog with pickles, tomato, sport peppers and mustard. The only thing it might have been missing is celery salt but I didn't miss it. The French fries were good, but the sweet potato waffle fries were amazing. Wife had a hamburger and it was excellent. They have local beers as well as other beverages. Will definitely be back.“

“This past Saturday, I treated myself to a me date a day dedicated entirely to myself. After indulging in a relaxing one-hour massage, I found myself absolutely starving. Wanting to try something new, I continued my exploration of Homewood’s restaurant scene and landed on The Battery. I met my aunt there for lunch, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The place was packed inside and out which is usually a great sign. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated. The interior had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly kind, answered all of my questions, and I never once had to ask for a refill. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was impressively quick, and every dish arrived hot. Appetizers Buffalo Wings – The wings were well-sauced and smoked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. However, the biggest letdown was the lack of seasoning. While the smoky flavor was great, the wings themselves needed more depth. 7.9/10 (With proper seasoning, this would easily be in the high 8s or even a 9). Queso & Chips – The chips were fresh, crunchy, and unseasoned but still did the job. The queso had potential, but it lacked the bold flavors needed to truly stand out. It wasn’t bad, but it could have been much better. 6/10 Entrées & Sides Wedge Salad – The salad itself was solid, but the bacon was a miss. It had an overpowering liquid smoke taste, leaving a strange aftertaste and smell. 7/10 Fries – These were outstanding hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated the variety of cuts and shapes. 8.5/10 Smash Burger – A well-executed smash burger with that signature crispy edge and juicy interior. However, the meat itself wasn’t seasoned, which held it back from being exceptional. 8/10 Final Thoughts Overall, The Battery was a great experience, and I’d happily return. The biggest downside was the lack of seasoning across multiple dishes. If they improved that, their food would easily score even higher. That said, I still highly recommend trying this place. “Located in the Edge. Walk Up burger spot. Pretty good burger spot! The food was fresh and hot. The french fries were seasoned and hot! The kiddos enjoyed the burgers. I wish the kids menu had a kids burger on it. Scenery is pretty cool. Located on between Cookie Plug and Shin Ramen.

“My daughter was super hungry and getting cranky because she was tired. We decided to run in Otey's Tavern to grab something. I wasn't sure what to expect, I didn't search reviews before going like I usually do. Not only was the club salad HUGE, it was SO GOOD. The bacon was nice and crispy, the lettuce, tomato 🥰 and cucumber were fresh and the turkey/ham were shredded which I love!!! She had her heart set on fruit for her side. When we found out they didn't have it right now (which isn't their fault, it's a seasonal thing) she had big feelings that the whole restaurant heard. Brian, a bartender who has just gotten off work and was eating before leaving heard Audrey crying. GUYS. HE WENT TO ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND GOT HER SOME FRUIT. IT WAS SO SO SWEET!!!!! I had no clue he was doing it but he let our waitress know and brought it to the table. It was so kind. Such a sweet thing to do. I just had to let everyone know about how great the food AND people were there!!! The waitress (I'm so sorry I didn't ask her name) was also super sweet and accommodating!! 🥰 Go eat there and don't forget to tip!!!“

“Can’t really beat them on value, food options change often too so you won’t get tired of visiting. Service here (online/drive thru/dine in) is pretty good, but it gets bogged down during rush hours, make sure to avoid it. Dining area is pretty tidy and nicely decorated.“
