“The food & service was excellent! My husband had The Glendale Burger & his choice was a side salad. He said it was excellent & really liked the pickles they put on it. I had the Fish Fry with Cole Slaw & Cajun French Fries. Loved the flavor of the slaw. The Cajun fries reminded me of the restaurant we used to go to in Louisiana. Portions are great. I highly recommend to stop & eat or try their bar.“

“New to the area and looking for a place that served sours. This place is 10 minutes from my house. They had just opened so only a few other people. Kind of a small, tucked in place. Pinball machines and other games. I wondered about the empty parking garage lot but there's more parking in the back. Staff was super nice and helpful. I got a great sour and when I told them it was the reason I came, they gave me a sample of another. They said they change the drinks out about every 2 weeks. Ordered a mushroom Swiss burger that I did not expect much more than average bar food out of but it was huge and delicious. One of the best I've had in a while. I may become a regular.“

“Assolutamente fantastico!! Never has there been an Italian restaurant that offered so many wonderful choices for just about any diet. Are you kidding me? Zoodles? Spaghetti Squash? This is also one of the few places left that still have angel hair pasta and they use deliciously perfect Roma tomatoes. No sugar added tomato sauce AND everything made in-house? Wow...that's about all I can say about this wonderful gem in the desert. Everything had taste bud pleasing flavor, portion sizes are perfect and at a very decent price. Not to mention service was perfect, immediate and very accommodating. Whether this was a lucky night for us, or the usual for this wonderful place, they have new fans that will back for more. There is a ton of variety to the menu which requires more visits to experience. Don't pass this place up! The only suggestion is the artichoke leaves could be a little more tender using the baby leaves only, however, they are delicious and worth a try.“

“This is not commentary on the food itself, but an issue that customers need to be aware of when ordering delivery. Many restaurants are doing this, and this is yet another...do NOT try to tip the delivery driver through them. They subcontract the services of people like Door Dash, and when a tip is added to the order the delivery driver will never see a dime. The restaurant KEEPS those tips. I always tip in cash myself, because multiple restaurant chains are doing this to drivers that end up making as low as $2.50 in TOTAL for bringing even a large entire catering order to someone. This exact scenario occurred with an order from this location.“

“Top marks across the board! My family and I have been dining in here for years and have never had anything but good things to say about them. So for our wedding my wife and I had a German themed wedding that could be described as an old world decorated ceremony and dinner with an Oktoberfest reception. Anyways, we needed food to be catered and there being only about two restaurants in the valley that could support this, we were able to come to an agreement with Chef Luis and his staff here at Haus Murphy's. This was a wedding planned for a max of 175 people to attend, there was not that many to attend but we ordered enough food for that amount of people. Our request was for giant pretzels and stuffed mushrooms for the cocktail hour with their mustard and cheese dips. Main course was Eisbein, The BIG Smoked Beefy Bratwurst, Kilometer, spätzle, potato pancakes, German potato salad, and sauerkraut. Chef Luis nailed it!!! The food was definitely one of THE MOST talked about hits at our wedding and I could not agree more! I love this place and it will always be high on my recommendations for friends and family who visit the valley and is a Downtown Glendale treasure.“

“The management team here seems to be the same one from the former 168, and you can really feel the authentic Taiwanese touch in everything they do. The prices are very fair and reasonable; I felt I got great value for every dollar spent. The owner and the staff were exceptionally friendly and provided excellent service with a warm, authentic Taiwanese hospitality. I truly hope their business continues to prosper!

The Highlights:
• Corn Chowder: This was the highlight for me! It tastes exactly like the corn soup in Taiwan—very delicious. My only small complaint is that it’s not bottomless, which is a big part of Taiwanese steakhouse culture.

• Salad: Very nostalgic Taiwanese-style salad with tasty Thousand Island dressing.

• Stinky Tofu: Fried perfectly crisp. I would suggest adding more pickled cabbage on the side and letting it marinate a bit longer for a deeper flavor.

Areas for Improvement:
• Steaks & Sizzling Plates: The mushroom sauce portion was a bit small, making the overall meal feel too dry. The pork chop was a bit too tough, and the chicken skin wasn't crispy enough. Also, the sizzling plate wasn't hot enough, so the egg white remained undercooked.

• Minced Pork Rice (Lu Rou Fan): The sauce was a bit too salty, and the rice was too wet/mushy. It would be better if the rice grains were more distinct.

• Menu Accuracy: The menu still lists garlic bread, but I was told it's no longer available. As a fan of Taiwanese garlic bread, I was a bit disappointed. Please update the menu to reflect what is actually being served.

Overall, I really like this place and the team behind it. I believe they will continue to improve, and I look forward to coming back!“
