“I ordered the signature malatang with less spice, and my friend ordered the sesame sauce spicy dry mix. I already had high expectations because some of my friends told me this is the number one malatang place.
It really hit the spot!! So delicious. The soup had rich umami flavor and paired well with all the ingredients. The spice level was just right for me since my stomach is usually too weak to handle spiciness.
I also tried some of my friend’s dish. She chose medium spicy. It was actually too hot for me, but still very tasty. Spiciness is very personal, so I recommend starting with your own comfortable level and then adjusting the spice level on your next visit. (Anyway, you’ll definitely come back!! ;))
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made my experience even more pleasant.
Also, the restaurant looked much more hygienic than other malatang places. Please keep up this great quality 🙏
The only thing I’d suggest improving is the meat container. It looked a little empty, and since the meat was rolled up, it was hard to tell how much I was actually getting.“

“The Taiwanese hot pot in Burnaby has a very authentic taste. It has many menu choices, fresh ingredients, bright store lights, and friendly service. It is also worth mentioning that the store is also very kind to children and will give children stickers, which is also good for parent-child customers. Highly recommended. “Reading these reviews make me so confused! Maybe it’s because I tried it after they put up the “under new management” sign.

Last week I went to Aroma which is on the opposite side of Crystal mall, and has a much higher rating, and was very disappointed with their popcorn chicken and beef noodle soup.

This week I decided to give Hanju a try, and it was far far better. The chicken is perfectly seasoned with the deep fried basil leaves, and the beef in the beef noodle soup just melts in your mouth. No carrot or radish fillers (the taste is there, it’s just not served as chunks) you actually get green veggies. They have some imported Taiwanese drinks as well.

The price is not cheap, but we would come back for our next Taiwanese food craving, especially with baby in tow. They have some children’s books and the seats are a lot more comfortable and clean than its competitor on the other side of the mall.“

“Made significant improvements since I first started coming here. Honoured the birthday deal stacked with the student deal. Food was fresh and service was prompt. Restaurant is generally clean. An excellent choice for hot pot and a great late night option. Ideally suited for parties of 4-6 but can accommodate for larger parties. They are quite busy so it might be a good idea to reserve a table“

“Great service. We came here late at 2 p.m. on a weekend; they welcomed us to stay and eat during their meal break, making sure we were served.

“We enjoyed our meal at Happy Lamb. I asked for the spiciest broth, although there were lots of peppers it didn’t seem very spicy. Don’t know if extra spicy is an option?? Other than that everything tasted very good and the food seemed fresh and plentiful.“

“Food is great! Meats are significantly better than Kingsway cause its almost no fat on the side at all. Pot on the table is a bit far and non-asian employees refill your soup to the rim of the ceramic but the pot is shorter and it's the stainless. So broth went everywhere!“

“This is actually my second time at Gaon. This place offer quality food with a budget-friendly price ? I was having my birthday party here of 6 and we ordered a Combo B BBQ set for 4 and 1 main dish and believe me when i say all 6 of us couldn’t actually finish the food so we have to take my cake back home without eating any of it lol. “Had one of those meals that made you leave feeling happy and satisfied. Came on a Saturday night and the place filled up quickly and the K-pop music made the space lively (our 2.5y/o daughter kept dancing the whole night). Food wait was around 30 minutes, but when it came, everything came! The spicy beef intestine hot pot was awesome if you like organs, very well-seasoned. Everyone loved the seafood pancake, which was very crispy and had a loads of filling. Japchae portion was huge and very tasty. My favorite was the bossom and jokbal (braised pork hock) dish! Super tender, gelatinous and flavorful, highly recommend. The kettle Vanmak makgeoli helped us wash down all that food, which we had to pack half of it to go. Great meal and value, will definitely return!“

“Upon entering, they have a number system, make sure you grab a number.
The staff here is very very polite and friendly. Our server even asked us if it's our first time here, and what she would recommend. The lunch combos come with a complementry drink. Our drinks were delicious. We didn't drink the majority of it because we didn't want to fill ourselves up before our hotpot.

My friend got the Korean hot pot. It is nicely spiced, exceeds generous in portion and she said she would order this again.
She didn't realize that the hot pot had ramen noodles inside it. This combo comes with a side of rice too. I got the seafood and tofu hot pot. I also didn't realize that it had vermecelli noodles in it, and my combo came with a complementry choice of vermecelli noodles or rice. Word of caution, ask the server if the hotpot has any noodles inside it first, before choosing your complementary side. Also come hungry because it's a whole lot of food. We ended up taking our free beverages with us back to the dog park. It was perfect, no complaints.

Our meals were delicious. My friend loved how they refill our hotpot with broth, and not water. It's a pet peeve we got lol. If your hot pot gets too hot you can ask the server to put out the flame.
Would we come back? Based upon our own experience, we had a great lunch here. So yes.“

“nice chill place with supportive staff that help you along the way if it's your first time. It's a super solid all you can eat hotpot place that my family enjoys coming to. I highly recommend this place. They also have good lunch sets that I haven't gotten around to trying but the lunch sets are super cheap for what looks like is actually good quality for what you spend.“
