“Hop and Vine Taphouse in Burnaby is a solid spot to hang out with friends, offering a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was their “Dinosour” — easily one of the best sour beers I’ve had, with bold, tangy flavors that really stand out. Their lager and lager lite were decent but fairly average in comparison.
On the food side, there were some hits and misses. The linguine Alfredo was excellent — creamy, rich, and full of flavor, making it a standout dish. The wings, however, were a letdown overall. They were consistently dry and tough, lacking the juiciness you’d expect. The Cajun wings, while better seasoned than the others, still didn’t impress — the flavor was flat and didn’t do enough to make up for the texture. The jerk wings fared worse, with seasoning that was too overpowering and didn’t complement the meat well. Even with the sauce, the wings remained hard and dry, making them difficult to enjoy.
A nice bonus is the free-to-use pool table, which adds a fun and social element to the visit. While the food is inconsistent, the relaxed vibe and unique beer selection — especially the standout Dinosour — make this a decent place to chill with friends.“

“There is much that can be said about this restaurant. It's quaint, it's small, it's everything a new age restaurant should be. To give you a little background of my qualifications. I am classically trained in French technique. I have worked in the highest of restaurants let alone Michelin but I have also worked in the lowest. When I go to a new place I always look for the new, the innovative. This restaurant alone touched my soul. Gave me dreams of the next dish, the next wine. Watching the Executive Chef work was utterly relaxing. While I am not from BC it is the one thing from my trip that makes me want to come back. It would be a shame for anyone to miss this little gem while they are visiting.“

“First time trying this place — loved the patio! The area wasn’t too busy, super cozy even though it was a bit windy. The staff were really friendly! The chef rotates, and we got the ceviche — it was okay, but the vibe totally made up for it. Would definitely come back to try more food! Overall 9/10 🤍“

“Honestly the food was fine and service were great! We got the tasting menu ($75/person) and tried 8 different dishes. We did mention needing an accommodation for no spicy dishes as I don’t eat spicy.
The only reason I docked one star is because of amount of food for value. As a petit lady this was filling enough for me but my partner was definitely not full. We felt that had we known about the selection of dishes within the tasting menu we would’ve preferred to order a la carte, and still come out to a total less than what we paid.
Recommendation for restaurant would be to ask diners in advance if there was any dish they’re dying to try to ensure it’s included in the menu (I.e., we asked about a dish when discussing the menu and was disappointed it wasn’t included for us).“

“Rude server - My wife's first experience going out after giving birth. The male server peaked over her shoulder while she paid and made a rude comment when he saw she tipped 'only' 15% on a $20 cocktail. Completely ruined her night. Train your staff better.“

“A solid 5-star experience at Courtside! My friend and I sat at the bar, and despite the basketball theme, the staff was kind enough to switch a TV to the Canucks game for us, which was a thoughtful touch. We took full advantage of the all-day happy hour—amazing deals and delicious drinks. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. We’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend!“

“This is a great place. It’s one of those eateries on the North Shore that is a must visit. Menu is not elaborate but that’s why this place works. They do what they do really well. The cost is also very reasonable. Apparently they have been around for 4 yrs. I spoke to who I believe was the owner and he was super nice as well. Would definitely recommend.“

“I’ve visited this restaurant many times, and it’s always such a pleasant experience. The interior feels upscale yet relaxing, and all the staff are friendly and welcoming.
The “Holly Cow” platter is an amazing selection of meats — without a doubt the best taste you can find in Vancouver.
They also offer individual BBQ sets and counter seating, which makes it easy to come alone, while the private table seating creates a wonderful atmosphere for families or friends to enjoy together.
I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!“

“Nice ambience, tasty cocktails and good service. The appetizer “potato pillows” were delicious and not greasy. The vegetarian ravioli dish was well presented and it tasty yummy per my friend. The duck was not tender enough though. I ordered my latte extra hot but it was cold. However, the server quickly gave me a really hot one upon informing her. Overall, it was a nice evening spent at the restaurant. Thanks!“

“Came to celebrate a grad and enjoyed my time here. We were in for lunch on a weekday and it was pretty quiet.
Good service, and servers recommendations was good. Water was refilled often.
Everything was flavored pretty strong, but good. I'd avoid bringing people who prefer milder flavors.“

“Very nice experience. Not noisy, we could have good conversation. The server was wonderful and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a lovely restaurant and we will be spending a lot more time there. The restaurant is clean and the food was delicious and well priced. We liked the David's option with the smaller portion/cost option, but equally tasty.“

“I recently had dinner at June on Cambie, and it turned out to be a delightful culinary experience. The food here stands out for its inventive approach that builds on classic French cuisine, blending traditional techniques with fresh, creative twists. Each dish felt thoughtfully composed, with layers of flavor that showed real attention to detail.
One of the highlights for me was the pasta, clearly influenced by French richness rather than typical Italian simplicity. The sauce was deep, buttery, and intense, with a texture that clung beautifully to the noodles. It’s not the light, olive-oil based kind of pasta you’d find in a trattoria; rather, it had a rich and creamy profile that leaned closer to a refined Parisian kitchen. Personally, I usually prefer a cleaner, more Italian-style flavor, something brighter and lighter but I can absolutely appreciate the craftsmanship here. It’s a matter of personal taste, and I imagine many diners would find this style incredibly satisfying.
Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the ambiance struck a warm yet sophisticated tone, making it a great spot for both date nights and gatherings with friends who enjoy good food.“

“Our server was wonderful. She was very attentive and always there to fill our water glasses and check for our orders. We were there for the Happy Hour and it was great value for money. It was a nice sunny afternoon sitting outside. I noticed there were no heaters and may be they will install them when fall season kicks in.“

“My boyfriend an I were looking for a place to dine while walking around Gastown when we came across Al Porto. We entered and where greeted by the waiter SIXTO. He made us feel very welcomed and took care of us. We had the lasagna which was excellent and the calamari which we found to be very chewy and tough. Not properly prepared. We ordered Molson Canadian beer and where told that we don’t carry it. SIXTO recommended we try The Kokanee beer which was comparable. We where offered the dessert menu but declined and had another Kokanee. Overall experience was good with exceptional service from our waiter. Will defiantly return to this restaurant next time we are visiting Vancouver.“

“It was amazing! From, Chloe, the Hostess, to the waiter, Mark, who was outstanding, and the food was amazing! I had the Pesto Risotto, for my appetizer, the Beef Tenderloin, on grilled Romaine, with Frites, done perfectly! The view was spectacular! But none of it could have been pulled off without the personality and care of our server, Mark!“
