“I have ordered from this place constantly for the past year and a half and I have been trying different things on their menu each time. I have never once been disappointed in the quality, presentation, or taste that the food they preset offers. My wife is Japanese and hasn’t had proper Japanese made food from home in over 2 years and she loves this place and describes the feel of the food like “home”. The price compared to other places is great as the portion size relative to the cost is very much worth it. If you haven’t eaten here before I HIGHLY recommend it“

“From the moment you walk through the door to the moment you leave, the professional and attentive staff take care of every detail. Restaurant is large - it has great ambience, the layout provides a personal and intimate feeling despite there being many tables. The food is superb, we plan on returning to make our way through the great menu. It is the best place we have eaten at in Canada for food, service and ambience. We highly recommend the seafood tower as a way to taste through some of the menu. The grilled octopus rivalled what we have eaten in Italy. The pork belly was cooked to perfection. The wine list is extensive and expertly curated.“

“This gem is easily one of our favorites. Asian flavors on point with generous portions. We are always able to dine in comfortably even if there are only a few seats. The same guy who takes our order and serves our food is really nice, it’s just him and the chef. Mango tango is the best! Recommend trying the Shrimp Spicy Thai Basil, Oyako Don and Tso’s Chicken Cutlet.“

“Peter’s Sushi is a hidden gem. We were greeted to sit anywhere by kind staff, and when we ordered our food.. we were amazed once again. We didn’t think anything could top Nori Sushi in Nanaimo but this place is a neck and neck contender.. maybe even slightly better. We also had the seasonal Wagu which was also amazing.

“Very good experience, we were welcomed by a our server and host and she was extremely welcoming, we were seated immediately and were able to order right away, considering they opened 15 minutes before we sat down, the food came out at a reasonable time. “I'm giving this place 5 stars even though I rate the food at a 4, because of what role this place is trying to fulfill it does a good job at - a counter service Japanese food place. I think a lot of people coming here expect standard sit down dining style sushi and food and are disappointed with that. This place is meant to get something at the counter, then either sit and eat or take it to go.
The food is good, not amazing, but VERY good value for the price and quick service. For example, a teriyaki chicken bowl that will fill you right up is $8 and ready in 5 minutes. You're not going to get that anywhere else around here, and it tastes just fine.
You're not coming here for high end sushi dining, you're coming here for basic but good food at a decent price.“

“Some of the best sushi I've had. We sat at the bar and the environment was very cozy. We were right in front of the gentleman who made our sushi and you can tell he was caring and paying attention to our order and needs as much as the wait staff.

“Sakura is a great spot with a wide variety of takeout bento boxes. Perfect for a quick and tasty meal. The staff are super friendly and adorable, making the experience even better.

Besides bento boxes and don (rice bowls), they also have a fantastic selection of Japanese groceries, including different types of rice and a surprising find—mentaiko!!!!!

“A nice place to enjoy your lunch break. I recently ate here and the quality of the materials are very good.

I ordered the ginger for only .69 cents and enjoyed it was the side wasabi which was also only 69 cents. Good deal for a light meal.

The containers are strong and well made and they give you high quality chopsticks at no additional charge. The chopsticks did not splinter and can be reused many times. This goes the same for the take away containers.

They provide your lunch with a compliment dining tray and thick absorbent napkins so that if you spill you don’t get it on your clothing.

Overall a good experience with inexpensive options and quality utensils and containers that can be reused many times!“

“Can't say enough good things. $45 for all-you-can-eat which I thought was a great price, everyone working was so bubbly and pleasant, and the food was delicious. We had tonnes of sashimi, gyoza, crab and lobster balls, prawn and salmon tempura, and a lot of other selection off of the menu and they all came very quickly and super yummy.
