“came to this bistro for the first time on March 22, 2025 for a surprise 70th birthday for a family member. Found the setting comfortable, the staff knowledgeable, friendly and the service top notch. Ordered the platter for two and it was so good, the calamari was the best!! Our table numbered 15 people and all food arrived hot and all family was eating at the same time. This bistro is amazing!! As we travel to Gabriola Island fairly often, we will be stopping here for dinner again!!“

The wonderful experience surpassed all of the past ones with the best authentic lamb souvlaki and tzatziki, exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere I have ever experienced. “We had an amazing treat at Ironworks Cafe & Creperie. So many tempting choices, both sweet and savoury. Three of us wanted to share two crepes, and asked if our choices could be cut into thirds. Renee plated the thirds individually with full garnishes. 🌟🌟🌟 We had the ‘Four Berries and Cream” (sweet) and the ‘Spinach, Artichoke & Brie” (savoury). Hmmmmm. “I used A Wee Cupcakery for my wedding to provide vegan and gluten-free cupcakes. They made six of each of four flavors, and the chocolate coconut was absolutely to die for! Even guests without dietary restrictions couldn’t resist. Attached is a photo of a happy bride who sampled each flavour. 😄 Delicious treats and fantastic service—I highly recommend them!“

“My family visited Nanaimo during recent trip to Vancouver. Before checking out of our hotel, we stopped by this café for coffee, an egg salad sandwich, and a bagel, and everything was delicious. More than anything, we loved the warm and cozy atmosphere with beautiful Christmas decorations. The staff were very friendly, and thank you so much for giving the kids jelly as well.“

“Had the papaya salad and the lettuce wrap. The papaya salad was excellent, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The chicken in the lettuce wrap, however, was more like scrambled egg in texture, which was surprising and not what I expected. The interior was nice and welcoming, and the service was solid.“

“I recently ordered the Butter Chicken Rice at Noodle Box, and it was absolutely amazing! The dish was flavorful and packed with a generous amount of tender chicken. The portion size was perfect, and each bite was a delight. A big shoutout to Shakil, who provided excellent service and made the experience even better. The ambiance is warm and inviting, which makes it the ideal spot for enjoying good food in a comfortable setting. Highly recommend Noodle Box – tasty food and a great vibe!“

“I had a great experience at New York Fries in Woodgrove Center. The fries were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned—exactly what you'd expect from a place that specializes in fries. I tried the Butter Chicken Poutine.

The service was quick and friendly, even during a busy lunch hour. The staff seemed organized, and my order was ready faster than I anticipated.

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the price—it’s a bit on the higher side for the portion size, but the quality does make up for it.

Overall, I’d recommend New York Fries if you're in the mood for high-quality fries or poutine while shopping at Woodgrove.“

“Service was great, food is always good - SO LOUD it is always so difficult to hear and we had to shout at the table. The music is loud which makes people talk louder and it is just not pleasant. I love the renovations that were done, looks great. Not sure what you can do about the noise level, it is a deterrent for me to go in.“
