“came to this bistro for the first time on March 22, 2025 for a surprise 70th birthday for a family member. Found the setting comfortable, the staff knowledgeable, friendly and the service top notch. Ordered the platter for two and it was so good, the calamari was the best!! Our table numbered 15 people and all food arrived hot and all family was eating at the same time. This bistro is amazing!! As we travel to Gabriola Island fairly often, we will be stopping here for dinner again!!“

“We were a group of three for lunch yesterday. I had been going to Greek restaurants in Vancouver for 40 years before I moved back to Ucluelet. The wonderful experience surpassed all of the past ones with the best authentic lamb souvlaki and tzatziki, exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere I have ever experienced. Bar Luna has the answer to all your woes, with tacos and handhelds of the food in a blanket variety, I had the al pastor pork tacos with their spiciest offerings of in house hot sauce (hot enough to melt the tastebuds right off your tongue!) washed down with the Blue Island Iced Tea (with edible candied orange slice!) The perfect spot, nestled away in the quiet corners of Nanaimo BC 10/10 would recommend to anyone in the area, looking for a classy, comfortable, warm and inviting environment with all the tasty tacos and fixings for a spice aficionado like myself!“

“My "go to" restaurant. Last night had the Valentine's day special. Portions were generous and delicious. No room for dessert, so had to take the strawberry cheesecake home for later.“

Our server Dani was genuinely very warm, caring and friendly. The manager Sean was really great too. Rachel at the hostess podium was very nice as well. It was a very good experience thanks to these three awesome staff members.

“I used A Wee Cupcakery for my wedding to provide vegan and gluten-free cupcakes. They made six of each of four flavors, and the chocolate coconut was absolutely to die for! Even guests without dietary restrictions couldn’t resist. Attached is a photo of a happy bride who sampled each flavour. 😄 Delicious treats and fantastic service—I highly recommend them!“

“Delicious place for Brunch. Had their Pulled Pork pancakes, so great. My wife had their hash and was very happy with it. If we are back in town, we would definitely be back. Place can be VERY busy, and it's seat yourself, so keep that in mind, especially on a weekend or long weekend.“

“Bocca is a simply darling little shop. I ordered the strawberry matcha iced latte and it was super delicious and photo worthy. May gave me wonderful service. She was super friendly and knowledgeable, running the cash and making the drinks quickly. There is all sorts of local art and jewellery for sale in there which makes it feel extra homey and cute.“

“Stopped by chance after shopping downtown. The restaurant has a cool look with the glass roof and garage doors. We ordered vegetarian dishes and they were very good. The papaya salad was excellent, I do think there may have been fish sauce in it, so beware if you are a strict vegetarian. We had a tofu stir fry and tofu curry, both were good, not too salty or oily as many Asian dishes are. The prices are very reasonable and the staff were friendly. Everything was garnished nicely as well. The only thing I would change is if the dishes could be labeled as vegan or vegetarian. We will be back.“

“Arrived at 2 so had options from the regular and happy hour menu. The street corn dip was fantastic. Combo plates included enchiladas and our favourite dish - Chile Rellenos. Great staff, funky atmosphere and amazing food. Can't wait to come back!“

“The staff are friendly — not only the cashiers but also the cooks.
And the food is definitely worth it. I usually order the peanut noodle box or the Thai butter chicken box.
They’re not too strong in flavor, but they’re delicious and unique.
I recommend this place to anyone who wants Asian food.“

“I had a great experience at New York Fries in Woodgrove Center. The fries were fresh, crispy, and perfectly seasoned—exactly what you'd expect from a place that specializes in fries. I tried the Butter Chicken Poutine.

The service was quick and friendly, even during a busy lunch hour. The staff seemed organized, and my order was ready faster than I anticipated.

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the price—it’s a bit on the higher side for the portion size, but the quality does make up for it.

Overall, I’d recommend New York Fries if you're in the mood for high-quality fries or poutine while shopping at Woodgrove.“

“Good food good service but too noisy for my taste. I understand that's a sport bar but when you look at the clientele it's not just a bunch of young men and women. It would be nice if they would try to accommodate a variety of clientele. Despite all the positives I'll not go back because when I go out with friends I want to be able to enjoy my visit and to have a nice conversation without having to worry about an annoying noise level.“
