“Melinda’s Bistro is literally a hidden gem in beautiful Sidney, BC. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food is amazing…especially their breakfast sandwiches and soups!!! They have a lot of great items on their menu to choose from, and their prices are on par…if not cheaper…than similar cafes in the Sidney/North Saanich area. If you’re travelling to or from the ferry or the airport, you should definitely check this place out!! :)“
“I travel often to the Gulf Islands, and remember this Bakery Cafe from when I lived on Galiano and happy its still going strong! Indeed, it is the ONLY place to go for coffee first thing in the morning (like 7 am which means the bakers clock in at 5 am ) ) except for drip coffee at the Garage There is always a line up , waiting for the OPEN sign to light up Inside it is basic, countertop seating, but incredible color photos of resident pods of Orcas are attractively displayed The staff is always smiling and friendly. I love their delicious Turkey sandwiches (day old only $4.50)and fresh Pain au chocolat that tastes tres francais and uses real butter and delicious chocolate fresh baked every morning and by the time I buy two and two coffees and walk to my friend Andrews, they are still warm Thanks Sturdies Bay Bakery Cafe I love you all the time but especially on a cold rainy day at 7 am when NOTHING else is open!CHRISTINA FERRERO YOU TUBE ARTIST LISTEN TO DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER AND NANOOSE BAY LULLABYE ONLINE“
“The most creative, beautiful, and delicious scones I have ever eaten! You can just tell that they use quality ingredients and don't cheap out on anything. They taste as good as they look. I love the personal touch too. The owner and founder is always there to greet you with a lovely smile.“
“Charming Cafe and bakery in the heart of the village. Local owned and operated. Owners work incredibly hard to provide the community and visitors with an exceptional selection of food, treats, and quality coffee at fair and honest prices. Great place to people watch and view of the bay. Large covered patio and ample seating inside. BYOM if you prefer.“
“Galiano Island, the first rock from the Mainland, is a small, sleepy island Oxeye just opened at the old Emporium Restaurant site The chef is very creative and uses a lot of local natural ingredients Oxeye opens early and bakes its own bread The staff is very friendly and remembers you by name if they have seen you before. The cofffee is excellent and the pannini are very substantial and a delicious choice for breakfast or lunch Live music events are back, Lightning Dust, my favorite West Coast Band, played live there recently. This is a great spot, ten minutes walk from Sturdies bay Ferry and close to three galleries, Art and Soul, The Little Yellow House Art Center and The Cabra Gallery Museum A wonderful way to spend a day If you are a senior, you can make it there and back in one day If you also travel Monday to Thursday and are a BC resident and a senior, the ferry is free (normally about 20$for footsies or a person and a bike ) Glad the old Emporium is now the new Oxeye and still hopping! “I was shocked at the amount of delightful offerings that Sidney Bakery has, but this is no secret to the locals! Donuts, breads, cookies, bars, and much much more all at a very reasonable price!! While the store is small, it has so much to offer. We purchased some treats, cinnamon buns, and cookies and loved each item! The value is incredible and the staff were helpful and kind.“
“Walked up about a block and half from the Sidney wharf to grab some treats. Had them cut in threes (only 2 pictured as I tried them first, lol) as they were huge! Very nice fudgy flavor. I did think the Nanaimo bar was the least tasty of the three bars I chose. The fudge pecan cheesecake bar was divine. Worth the walk up. ?“
“This place is a cool little bakery. It's easy to miss when you drive by, I didn't know it was there until a friend took me recently. I love the environment there with the table seating. The food is good as well. The baked goods are made fresh and I had the croissant with cheese and ham melted, as well as the soup. It was excellent ? The prices are decent and it has friendly service. Good location in Sidney. Close by the main street. Parking is a bit tight and mostly on the street but across the road has some for free.“
“VANILLA LEAF BAKERY CAFE4605 Bedwell harbour road, #17, Driftwood Centre Mall, Pender island, BC…. This quaint, cozy little bakery is easily found in the mall right across from the most central access entrance to the parking lot right before one gets to the Copper Otter restaurant… Two of the front staff employees here, Yoko and Jensen, with their warm, charming and effervescent demeanors, do a wonderful job of assisting one in wading through the myriad of choices of so many deliciously yummy items to eat here… Be that one of the generously sized, freshly made sandwiches or wraps, hearty soups, healthy breads, or any of the colourful and varied flavours of sweet treats available here. The staff making everything back in the kitchen do an amazing job…There are also a whole host of hot or cold drinks available made with care by the front staff as well…cakes and pies are available for special occasions….Not a day goes by that I do not partake in spending some of my time here at the bakery near the central grassy courtyard in the mall… see you tomorrow!John K Welsh, Coquitlam, BC“
