“This restaurant is unprepossessing and located in an outdoor mall in the Newton area of Surrey. It is reasonably large with TV screens tuned to Indian channels. You don’t come here for the surroundings although they are reasonable enough. You go there for the food which is amongst the best North Indian available in an area awash with Indian restaurants and South Asian residents. Extremely popular with the locals who know their food, it has a wide ranging menu with very good vegetarian choices available. Definitely worth the 45 minute drive from Vancouver and my favorite Indian restaurant in B.C.“

“I’m speaking about the Surrey Central restaurant. 1. Our party of 4 was served their hot food on on absolutely ice cold metal trays, these trays were so cold!!!- the only explanation I could think of is the metal trays were next to a wide open window or door- outside temp. was 0 degrees. The hot food was only a 1/2” of height in each of the trays ‘bowls’ so was lukewarm very quickly- the cold trays stayed cold throughout and made our meal uncomfortable for sure! 2. We were, I shudder to say, rudely served our food one tray at a time, a minute or so apart, on the only open spot on the table in front of one of our party, with the only announcement being what was served on that tray- no asking by the server who ordered the food item so the orders could be properly served. I had enough of this by the 4th tray and… 3.I raised my concerns to more or less speechless servers (they were going through their breaks) about the concerns, so an apology was never uttered by the servers. 4. The only moments when servers were somewhat interested in our party’s experience was when they’d ask how’s everything, ‘on the fly’ without ever stopping to give eye contact to anyone in our party! I’m not going to give our entire experience a negative rating only because the food flavour and freshness was excellent- but the above 4 items should be addressed- if not by the chef or maitre’d, then perhaps by the HR dept.“

Small order is huge, and with an order of plain rice is still under $18. Good for at least 3cmeals. Idli was super soft & fresh - amazing idli.Everything was amazing EXCEPT bread pakoda. I could tell from 1st bite that it was not fresh and was double fried. When I ate 1st bite I felt a drank a cup of oil. Will not order bread pakoda again but will definitely return for dosa and idli. Highly recommend this place. Its simple with great service.“
