The menu has a delightful array of traditional Italian dishes, each crafted with care and authenticity. We started with Bruschettini Pugliese and Affettati e olive fritto. The best fried olives I ever tried; both appies were perfect. For the main courses we indulged in the Linguine e salmone, Lasagna and Spaghetti aglio olio e prezzemolo. I never tried pasta with lemon before; I have been missing out! Simply delicious. And of course we had to try the desserts: Grappa Tiramisu (I think it needed more mascarpone cheese), Frittelle di Carnevale (see photo) and Torta al Limone, which the attentive and friendly Jessica made more appealing by adding a candle to celebrate the occasion. Whether you’re savoring a romantic dinner or gathering with friends and family, Osteria Povera promises an authentic taste of Italy. You will be planning your next visit without a doubt.“

“I don't write reviews often but I needed to after my first visit here! The food and service was excellent for this unassuming place. You'd think from the name it's like a sports bar or something but it's the complete opposite lol.

It's reservation and pre-order only by email/phone and cash/debit/e-transfer only. The menu is all available on their site. Takeout containers aren't available there so you'd have to bring your own.

This place is great for special occasions as they have more fancier French + Italian dishes and appetizers, but also a lot of casual options too (I can't speak to the authenticity cause my knowledge of that is not great but it was yummy so who cares). The risotto funghi was amazing (not mushy!) and a great portion size. I only tried a bite of the beef wellington but it was delicious as well, and cooked wonderfully. And service was so caring and attentive but not in-your-face. The timing of the dishes was perfect and they were so nice. Atmosphere is dated but I couldn't care less about that, I'd eat the food if the restaurant was in a dumpster.

Definitely would come again to try more items on the menu! And highly recommend if you're looking for a more elevated meal, which I feel is hard to find in the tri-cities.“

“The place is nice, food is great, a special respect to the Chef!
But once I asked to surprise my friend for his birthday, I ordered a dessert (paid for it) and asked to bring it to our table with candles. They brought this dessert to a different table and without candles. Since it was a surprise, I didn't want to ask the waitress for it again because I didn't want my friend to notice anything. So I ended up paying for the dessert that we never got.“

“Found this lil Italian gem on a google search; pleasantly surprised with the food! I highly recommend the pistachio pasta, gnocchi with meat sauce and any of the pizza's, they will not disappoint. Our server was exceptional; very knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions and most importantly patient with my very hangry husband. Needless to say we were all happy when we left. I was introduced to That Place by a good friend and am over the moon stoked to go back. The prawns in the garlic cream sauce were to die for, but everything else was well beyond expectations. “We came here for a friend's 40th birthday because she enjoys the food, but the server today wasn't really up to the usual standard. She didn't seem to like her job and barely smiled. The other servers were great though, they commented on our balloons, the energy and our outfits!

We ordered a few dishes, the rigatoni being my favourite (flavourful and big portion). The ravioli was overcooked and dry with veey little sauce, and the bolognese was bland. The Boscaiola was my second fav dish, mainly because I love mushrooms and it was cooked very well. Creamy and delicious.

We also ordered appetizers. The calamari was tasty and had some fried zucchinis and bell peppers, which were a nice touch. The trio dip was also 👌🏻 except that they need to provide extra pita for the large amount of dips.

Overall the experience was good, except we hoped for a better server to make it better.

“An online order for some reason sent it to this location instead of one closer to me. When I called, the girl explained that the Doordash drivers were refusing to deliver it because it was a 15 min drive away (instead of 8 min). The staffer organized another driver and made a fresh pizza to deliver it. Overall it took about 3 hours total from order to arrival, but the staffer did her best to manage the situation. “The Missus and I along with two family outlaws had a pleasant dinner at the Royal Oak Restaurant. The Missus had visited Royal Oak Pizza in Burnaby many moons ago. The decor inside projects a 1980’s Greek restaurant vibe. The server was friendly and prompt with taking our orders. Our dishes were above average in taste and value priced. There was ample parking in the rear which was very convenient. A nice visit if in the area.“
