Picked some bits up earlier today to have for dinner. Really delicious pasties, cheese twists, and nanaimo bars. A bit chaotic and busy surrounding it as it's so popular, so not always easy to get to the counter to be served, but worth it for me.
I've been looking for a solid butter tart in the Lower Mainland for a long time. This place took the prize. It reminded me of my childhood (like an oldschool bakery 30+ years ago), it was glorious! A hard enough shell that allows you to hold the tart in one hand without falling apart; flaky, filled with buttery goodness and succulent raisins. I had no idea there was this level of sausage roll available anywhere. I have been a fan from when I lived here as a child through high school. After that I moved away but every time we came back that would be after a sausage roll, and Nanaimo bar of course. I have been back for 11 months and I can say hands-down Laurelle’s has the best sausage rolls ever. Anywhere.
