We ordered the wagyu meatloaf, chicken piccata, margarita flatbread, bacon burger, and cookie skillet. We'd order all these dishes again. Note that the cookie skillet easily feeds 4 people! “This is a delightful coffee shop, where I enjoyed a morning date with my wife. We only drank the house coffee, but the coffee hit the spot. To add to the atmosphere, Lofty Coffee played music (contemporary soft rock/ jazz). The service was kind and thoughtful, but the crew was busy. Several customers had their laptops, and they appeared to appreciate the environment. Lofty Coffee has an interesting pledge (please see photo).

“There are so many coffee shops to choose from in the area. Once you’ve been to Steady State you’ll probably become a regular.
The staff… friendly and welcoming.
The space… open and comfortable.
The caffeine… superb.

A barista from another shop recommended Steady State to me. I’m so happy they did. I was visiting from Canada and was only supposed to be in the area for four days… that was a month ago. I’ve tried to come to Steady State daily because my day just didn’t feel complete otherwise.

Just ignore the flavourless chain “coffee” places and support a terrific local business.“

“Delicious house made ice cream with a variety of flavors and cones. Large portions and the hot fudge is yummy. It’s a walk up window without inside access—a no indoor seating. Only a few outside picnic tables in a busy area in State Street. Coaster Station is directly behind with lots of shops, restaurants, coffee within walking distance. Definitely stop in if you’re craving creamy deliciousness.“

“Top 3 cafes on my list. California cafe hits the spot for a quintessential California cafe vibe. This girl must cook organic, cuz you’ll leave feeling satisfied and fulfilled without any guilt of getting your glucose shot up like with usually compared dishes or getting your immune rung up through the ringer from processed or “enriched” ingredients. You can tell she clearly paid attention in culinary school since she cares about quality.
On my first visit I had the tomato soup with a grilled cheese +bacon($2 added charge). The tomato soup seemed to be freshly made and the sandwich had 3 large crispy bacon slices on 2 large sourdough slices. Its snuggled inside a business complex, you’ll have the quiet rumblings of cars and on occasion small planes landing and taking off from Carlsbad airport next door if you sit outside. Inside sitting available. Great job ladies keep up the good work.

“It's a hidden gem. I have driven by multiple times but I never knew this place existed. I was referred by a customer at another brewery. He said the sandwiches here were great, they were big and you could share one with someone else. He also said the beer wasn't the greatest but he goes for a sandwich often. Parking is not great and when you walk in there is a beer menu but you have to read the paper menu to find out what is in the sandwich. The sandwich took about 30 min to come out. All that being said the sandwich was great, definitely worth the wait! The bacon is crispy. The bread was good and it was actually just the right size. I ordered an IPA and it was very good my friend that I went with also liked his sandwich and beer. The staff was great and everyone seemed to know each other and were very nice. I will be a new regular here for sure. Oh also reasonably priced, beer was $7 sandwich $13.“

Other standouts in our flight included Turtle Power, Treevana, and Cloud Chaser—all bursting with flavor.
