“I've been here dozens of times over the years, and I still love their food like it's my first time. I ordered the lamb biryani, and it was so delicious and enough to share between two, maybe three people. It's somewhat spicy and full of lamb chunks. My other favorite is the lamb naan it's huge enough to share and so delicious. I come here for the great customer service and fresh food that keeps me returning.“
“Mashaallah started out as a food truck but now has a stall in the food court of Westfield San Francisco. Despite its humble appearance, this small business offered some of the best Pakistani food I've had in the city from its steam table of freshly-prepared meat and vegetable curries. A star dish here (which came recommended by Soleil Ho) was the Lamb Korma, made of super tender, lean, meaty chunks of lamb in a spiced curry. On my combination plate, I also got the Chana Masala (chickpea curry) and the Palak Paneer (cheese cubes in a velvety puréed spinach sauce), served along with rice. Every item was delicately spiced and flavorful without being too salty, and the garnishes of raw onion and cilantro brought out the freshness of the dishes. On the side, I also had an order of Garlic Naan (another star item), which was perfectly soft and chewy and had a wonderful flavor and aroma from the garlic and herbs. Overall, the food here was absolutely delicious, and the owners were so friendly and hospitable too!“
“Honestly, I always enjoy my experience at Pakwan. My go to is their cheese naan, which in my opinion is the best naan in SF, possibly the bay. I usually accompany it with either an aloo mutter, bengan bartha, or a chicken tikka masala. Something that goes good with naan and is scoop-able. The workers are super nice and show a lot of hospitality. I really like the ambiance and how the dine in experience is as well with the music they play and how It has a family style vibe that makes it really inviting. Overall, one of 16th streets best eats. Enjoy!“
“Having iftar here in Ramadan was an amazing experience! The place is decorated for Ramadan, there is a beautiful, clean prayer area with lots of head scarves available for women to pray. They had a specialPlaylist for ramadan too. The service was excellent. Loved the tea. The food was good too. Thank you for this wonderful experience in Ramadan!“
“My partner and I are becoming regulars here because the food is delicious every time we come. We’ve had the baingan bhartha (my new favorite), palak daal, aloo mattar, biryani, and palak paneer. The food consistently tastes so fresh and flavorful. Plus, the atmosphere is warm and we always feel welcomed.“
“My experience here today was really great! The customer service was exceptional. The food was delicious and a perfect price point for the quantity. I was already planning on coming here today and I'm very glad I didn't let a previous negative reviewer change my mind. We got chicken tikka kabob and steak kabob paratha rolls, the meat quality was outstanding. There was no "hot lettuce" anywhere in sight. The rolls were meat forward, which is my preference, and came with diced cucumbers, onions, raita, and I believe a very small amount of a tamarind sauce (when they gave us squeeze bottles of additional sauces the lady called it Pakistani BBQ sauce which I thought was not only cute but helpful because it was much thinner and less overpowering than some tamarind chutneys, I really liked it). We also got samosas and they were really good but I will try something else next time because the cinnamon was a bit strong for my taste, but that's not a dig, I'm excited to try new things on their menu! And the mango lassi they gave us samples of is outstanding, I will come back to get that as a sweet treat soon. The 5 star reviews are not BS :)“
“I've ben eating at Aslam's for over a decade and consistently it serves up the delicious comfort North-Indian/Pakistani food that makes you happy. As with any of this food, it is overwhelmingly better when enjoyed piping hot straight from the kitchen (especially the tandoor) - another reason to avoid any delivery apps that gouge from restaurants and provide nothing in return. Great place to take the whole family and has tons of dishes that are made mild so kids can enjoy as well.Vegetarian options: I love the chana masala, the dal, the baingan bhartha (roasted eggplant)Kid-friendliness: Great place to take the whole family and has tons of dishes that are made mild so kids can enjoy as well.“
“Two men had one naan and one rice and two curries. The price was reasonable and it was delicious! The chicken curry had a very Korean taste and the lamb had a very strange taste. If you want a more familiar taste, try chicken.I arrived at 9:50 PM and it was nice to be told that I could eat here and leave.Since it's self-service, it's nice to be able to add a tip as well.A place worth stopping by if you are nearby!!“
“I ordered the Chicken Thali with chicken tikka masala and it was the most delicious rich gravy I've ever eaten. the service is good and the people are friendly.i came back to try the chicken tikka masala pizza and it was great. it was a huge slice for 5 bucks n the flavors were bomb.“
“Wonderful. This is one of the best Indian / Pakistani restaurants in the area, and I'm including Berkeley in that assessment. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but it is a great family run spot that I plan to visit again.“
“I've eaten here 3 times. EVERYTIME the food has been delicious. every time the service has been friendly. No, it's not "fine dining". Don't expect it. They have this cauliflower dish that tastes like spicy chicken wings. I don't know how they do it.“
“I tried finally some takeout from this place after hearing so much buzz about it. The paneer tiki masala and rice I had was very tasty. The spices were nicely balanced and not too bold. The paneer was slightly chewy rather than the more firm texture I'm used to. At some point I will go back for a sit-down meal there since the dining area looked cozy and inviting. I'm not 100% sure I'd try the paneer again, but menu had all the usual suspects so I'm sure I'll find an alternative. The service was very friendly and fast.“
“I love this restaurant. Not many places have Haleem and Nihari, but this one does! Everything we had was delicious. I ordered chicken Haleem and my fiancé has the Paneer Tikka Masala. The paneer masala was flavorful with a slight sweetness. The naan was huge! And the aloo naan was delicious as well.“
“One of the best options to avail Indian or Pakistani style food. The owner is very friendly and I went there for a dinner. I ordered for goat biryani which seems to made from goat chukka. It was quite decent. especially the tenderness of the goat/ mutton with the blend of the spicy was awesome. While I had to wait for the biriyani to be prepared, the owner asked to have the free Indian/Pakistani style "CHAAI" which was really good and felt native one.. Getting such chaai at 7pm in the evening at san Francisco is one of the best thing I would say... There are few other Indian/ Pakistani style restaurants like Shalimar, chutney etc just next to this...to try different flavours...“
“I ordered two veggie biryani's and palak gosht. I have tried tikka masala at Kabana as well. I love the spinach They have lunch specials as well during weekdays. I was a regular at indus village for years. They closed, unfortunately. Kabana is good quality.“
“Had a great dish of lamb biryani, and a peek into Oakland's Pakistani community. While I was waiting for my order, I was offered a taste of another group's goat curry, and learned a word or two of Pashto. If you're the only one there, you'll find the atmosphere to be standard-issue convenience store, but if it's full of Pakistanis, it's like a short visit overseas.“
“Good food. Consistent in quality. Very nice staff. Plenty of dining space and options on the menu as well as weekly specials. Food is fresh and served hot. It's a order at the counter and seat yourself place. Free delicious tea with dine in service. Parking can be hard sometimes but not terrible. A true staple in the community.“
“I have been going here for over a decade. Great place for a quick bite after work. Delicious Indian/Pakistani food. Reasonable prices. Casual environment. This restaurant is ideal for delicious food at fair prices. This restaurant is mostly self serve and you pay at the counter.“
“Stopped in to try the food while visiting a friend in Pinole. The food was excellent, (not spicy enough for me) though I did ask for spicy. The service and hospitality was great and the treats were also very excellent.I will definitely be coming back in the future.“
“I honestly have to say this is one of the best places I've ever been they're super inexpensive I was homeless and used to come here a lot when I was able to with my service animal and they treated me with such kindness and generosity I moved away two years ago but will be moving back and this will be the first restaurant I go and visit when I move back at the end of April 2024! Super excited to see the new renovations!“
“I came here spur of the moment for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I seems like some down home Indian food. Nothing fancy looking but full of flavor. The owner is super friendly and the service was great. My new favorite spot in the neighborhood.“
“One of my absolute favorite hole in the walls. Came back after 4 years, so happy the quality is the same after Covid. This is a no frills dining experience, you come for the food. And the food delivers. You can tell everything is made with intention and doesn’t cheat with using too much diary or sugar or oil. The flavors are bombastic but the feeling is nourishment. Their lunch specials are complete and generous, they give you naan and rice and lentils and aachar and salad with any entree!! I wish all restaurants were like this.“
“Happy eating place and super great food buffet, service, and cook attitude is good, even have great vegetarian buffet as well as lamb meat buffet and salad buffet, impressed and will bring friends back. Relaxed atmosphere and music, all at a great price“
“A pakwan fan boy. Everything they have is quite tasty. Although it’s a little expensive, but the portions are always big. Just grateful to the owner because there is atleast one budget friendly Indian restaurant in SF that has good & clean food. Servers are great too. Only recommendation would be to please improve tea. It’s just water and tea powder.“
