“We have been many times and it never fails to impress us Overall, the food was very good. The menu has changed significantly so check it before you go. Service was outstanding, Haley was a kick.”
“this quant mendocino cafe specializing in southern food impresses all around! everything is (mostly) vegan but don’t let that turn you away. the food is so flavorful, you forget there isn’t even meat in it! service was friendly and hospitable and loved the interior decoration and tableware. special shoutout to the unique salt shakers on each table. a must stop for anyone visiting the area and still dreaming about those cheesy grits!beignets: tasty beignets but the stars were the dips. pepper jelly had a unique flavor and don’t usually like chocolate dips, but this one was nice and rich without being too sweet.cheesy grits: perfectly poached eggs, creamy grits, and smoky mushroom “bacon” with sour braised greens to balance it all out. must try!”
“We walked in to this gem of a restaurant. The food was amazing with impeccable service. The staff were so friendly and courteous. It made our day. The food was eclectic and modern. We will come back to try rest of the food on their menu.”
“Such an amazing little shop, where everyone was happy, helpful, and incredibly hard-working. Not only was the food and coffee delicious but everyone took incredible care of us while we were there as well as made sure that we had a wonderful start to our day. Incredibly helpful staff and wonderful eats.”
“Food is superb!! Wonderful spot cozy and comforting!! Beany broth, fish stew and roast chicken outstanding as were all the apps. Can't wait to go back !@Kid-friendliness: Well behaved toddlers were warmly welcomed”
“gnar bar is such a gem in downtown mendocino! we were welcomed by the friendliest staff who even gave my dog a treat upon walking in.i did not expect to taste such delicious asian food! they have shelves filled with imported asian snacks, beverages and side dishes if you need a quick bite to-go. highly recommend trying their sticky chicken wings and udon garlic noodles. everything was cooked fresh right before our eyes.Vegetarian options: saw several people order the vegan ramen. the tofu garlic udon noodles were delicious and totally vegetarianDietary restrictions: dishes are made to order, so you can ask the chef to make accommodations. i also saw several vegan and vegetarian options on the menu.”
“I love the pizza and the garden where you can sit to eat your pizza, but is a little problematic because in Mendocino the normal weather is cold, windy and wet. So be prepared for the weather and you will love itVegetarian options: Someone time they have pesto pizza, kale and garlic, wild mushrooms, they have a permanent menu but also have some special according to the season”
“We ate both lunch and supper here while staying in Mendocino. The cod fish and chips, clam chowder and Angus burger were all excellent. Only drink we had was an Irish mule that was very tasty.”
“The bruschetta here is the best I've had in my life. My wife and I come to the North Coast for getaways once or twice a year, and we make reservations here every time. I had the carbonara most recently, it was great. Chocolate cheesecake for dessert. The music selection in the first floor dining area can be fairly eclectic - I actually love it, but if that idea is a turn off for you, ask to be seated on the outside patio or the second floor!”
“This inn and view cozy French restaurant (SIBO) are the best kept cozy romantic secret escape on the Mendocino coast. We stayed in the exquisitely located L.E. White suite, with a king bed, old period furniture, high ceilings, spacious bathroom (separate jacuzzi tub and shower), balcony with gorgeous ocean view , mini-fridge, Keurig, and microwave. A welcome basket of wine and other goodies is included. But don't miss the restaurant (nothing in Mendocino is better). Anything you order (there are many choices, you select them in advance), will be beautifully prepared and served with a friendly smile. The beach below is lovely when the tide is out, as are the nearby wineries you can visit and redwood forests you can get lost in. Breakfast will be brought to your room.”
“We are so glad we were able to have Shani make our desserts for our wedding last June in Mendocino. She was able to make all the desserts vegan and they were absolutely delicious. We had strawberry shortcake, strawberry rhubarb pies, chocolate covered strawberries, biscottis, and fruit tarts. The design of everything was so beautiful, she has great attention to detail. Our guests loved everything, the desserts were gone quickly! Shani was such a pleasure to work with when figuring out what we wanted for the desserts. She provided different options in the dessert tasting and was so organized and professional. Thanks again for all your hard work to make such beautiful and delicious desserts! - Erica and Alex”
“I don't know how anyone could not give this place 5 stars, it's such a unique experience. Although it is does have an epic view, the real reason to go is the owner- Robert Beacon. Guy is a treasure and full of some great stories and is very appreciative of anyone that stops by for a drink. Don't miss it if you're in the area.”
“Good service. Was fun. No tastings or wine by the glass the when we went on Christmas Eve day but we shared a bottle of bubbly and it was fun. Good selection. Good prices on the wines as we knew most of them from visiting the wineries in the area.”
“Garden Bakery is tucked away in the midst of a backyard garden and is one of few coffee shops open in Mendocino Village (and to its credit, the only one that's open "late" until 4:30 pm). There's minimal seating inside (just 2 stools next to the window), but ample seating in the garden area outside. I stopped by here mid-afternoon and by 3pm, the pastry counter was slim pickings. The bakery offers an interesting mix of traditional pastries and Mexican food (tacos, burritos, and quesadillas). Since I was in the mood for something savory, I got a turkey empanada, which was hearty but honestly not worth $11.50 (the price was suspiciously inconspicuous, so that was on me for blindly buying). FYI: $5 minimum for credit cards. I'd give this place 3.5 stars, but rounding up to 4 stars.”
“Had lunch there, didn't stay.Food was delicious and the restaurant is beautifully decorated, it's like sitting in a garden which is roofed. Can only recommend it - not that cheap but very much worth it.”
“amazing pizza in mendocino! you can taste the freshness of the ingredients and love the specialty pizzas. pretty good crust. overall, highly recommend to satisfy any pizza cravings.smugglers: really enjoyed red sauced based veggie pizza. loved the mushrooms, garlic, and caramelized onionsnavarro: really enjoyed this pesto based pizza. don’t usually like chicken on pizza but didn’t mind this one. perfect choice of caramelized onions and mozzarella”
“Food was absolutely great. We got the thai burrito and the pasta Florentine with prawns. We also ordered the clams and muscles as an appetizer. They served bread along with your meal which was also great. You could see the ocean from our seats and they had heaters going for once the sun went down it got a little chilly. We paid $93 and all. They were open until 9:00 p.m. only one of three restaurants available after 5:00 p.m. seems like the whole town closes up at 5:00 p.m.”
“Did was delicious, the views were amazing and there was a nice mirror on the wall so you could see outside regardless of where you are seated.Drinks were fairly expensive - $14 local draft beers.Parking: Street parking was sufficient. You may need to walk a block or two if it's a particularly busy evening.Wheelchair accessibility: Did not appear to be wheelchair accessible. Entrance is on the second floor without apparent elevators.”
“Truly the best dive bar in Mendocino as it is undoubtedly the only one in this town. Love the very calm and real energy this place exudes which is in stark contrast with all of the fake touristy places surrounding it. Decent beer line up. If you love overused dick jokes, this is also a great reason to come here.”
“Wonderful location, traditional service atmosphere (both fun and slightly stuffy), moderately tasty food at a not so moderate price. Well worth a visit, regardless.”
“The ambience in this place is superb. The service is very friendly. the food is tasty and interesting. I would not say it’s amazing though. Still, totally worth heading to this place and trying out different dishes. The food felt healthy and was interesting.”
“Good: Entree was excellent. Waitstaff were cool.Food for thought: I provide this feedback reluctantly, understanding it's a first world gripe and that working in a restaurant or any service job, is thankless. Also it's general feedback for "fine dining" establishments as opposed to cafes and breweries where you might order essentially the same food for 1/3 to 1/2 the price and don't have the experience I'm going to complain about. And, I've really only noticed this since I moved up here permanently and started eating out at these kinds of restaurants more frequently. Waitstaff, chill out. I feel like I'm being watched like a hawk from the moment the entree arrives. I literally saw the waiter watching staring at me as I was getting close to finishing my entree and that was after he came by once to ask if I was done even when I was only about halfway through the entree. And this isn't a case of the restaurant being crowded. There's a not so fine line between being attentive and destroying a relaxing dining experience. I don't know if its boredom, i.e the wait staff literally doesn't have anything better to do, or standard operating procedure at these kinds of restaurants. But, ultimately it feels like I'm the meal ticket rather than the customer. There's no need to swoop in within 60 seconds of what appears to be the end of the course. It's gotten to the point where I've become self-conscious about not giving the impression I'm done. Let the customer's experience breathe a bit.”
