Armitage Wines Wine Bar • $$
705 Canham Rd, Scotts Valley - 8.06 miles

“Armitage wines offers a truly outstanding experience. It is not just the great history of the estate which was formerly owned by Alfred Hitchcock, but the delicious and high quality wines that you can sample in this amazing setting. The current owners are very welcoming and attentive and especially dedicated to creating a great tasting experience for their guests. We spend a whole afternoon trying the different wines and I have to say it is rarely the case that I am as pleased with the sampling as I was at Armitage. Next to this, the vineyard offers amazing views. Tucked away in the redwood trees you can see for miles while overlooking the grapes from the top of the estate. When the sun sets in the afternoon, it makes for an amazing play of light and shadows. We truly loved visiting this place and will definitely come back. It is well worth a trip. If this does not convince you, please see the attached photos. I am in no way affiliated to this place, but was simply amazed by our afternoon here.“

Mount Eden Vineyards Wineries •

“Mt. Eden Winery is truly a hidden gem. The moment you arrive, you're greeted with breathtaking views that set the tone for an exceptional wine-tasting experience. The wines are top-notch—each sip reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail that go into every bottle. Their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are standouts, but every wine we tried had incredible depth and character. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're a wine lover or just looking for a serene escape, Mt. Eden is a must-visit!“

Testarossa Winery Wineries • $$
300 College Ave, Los Gatos - 9.82 miles

“Let me start off by saying I never write reviews but feel compelled to do one after our visit.Testarossa for the win! My wife and I (mostly her) have traveled from the East Coast to the West Coast and abroad to visit vineyards or attend tastings. Saying this to say, we know a little about quality wine. We stumbled upon this vineyard while we were in California for a wedding. On an free day prior to the wedding, I was in charge of finding and booking tastings for us (mostly her). I had three tastings lined up for the day and Testarossa was stop #1. I read all the reviews to make a reservation so we did (and highly recommend). We decided on the tour (also highly recommended). It was raining that day, but the sun peeked out for about 7.4 seconds so we optimistically kept the reservation hoping for better weather. The rain continued - c'est la vie. But thankfully, we met our guide, Missy Elliot (not the rapper). She was/is the most knowledgeable, personable, amiable tour guide we ever met. She braved the elements for us, snuck in a few well timed anecdotes, and knew the history of the vineyard as if she lived there. She made Testarossa feel like family. The place was amazing and the wine was fantastic! The nicknames for the silos were hilarious. We sipped, lost track of time, and bought 4-6 bottles of their fine wine. Cannot remember specific amount due to the copious amounts of alcohol in our system. I accidentally broke a wine class and Missy was quick to come with a spray bottle that removed all traces out of my tan shirt. Testarossa is a gem and kudos to them for hiring Missy. She was the bright spot on a rainy day. Needless to say we didn't make it to our next destinations. After the tour, we headed to their patio for a snack. In my humble opinion, Testarossa is better than some of those pretentious vineyards to the north. Do yourself a favor, add them to your travel plans, you won't be disappointed.“

Kissed By an Angel Wines Winery •
75 Mt Hermon Rd, Scotts Valley - 7.96 miles

“Free wine tasting, up to 5 wines per day. Most have won awards, decent prices ranging from $30-45/bottle. They also have other more expensive wines for sale. Our bartender let us sample a $75/bottle wine that was opened per customer request for testing for free. Great experience. They run specials, but you need to ask about them. There are absolutely fantastic homemade pastries for sampling with the wine (also free).Place is a little out of the way in a side road behind other businesses. Not in the redwoods directly, or on the beach or obviously in a vineyard. But still a great experience and I would go back.“

“On our last visit to Santa Clara, we made a detour to the Mountain Winery and wow was it fun. We did the wine tasting in the early afternoon and stayed on for a comedy show later that evening featuring Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, and Craig Ferguson. I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Just relaxing at the winery, sipping some wine, and taking in the views was one of the highlights of our vacation. ??????“

Bottle Jack Winery Winery •
1088 La Madrona Dr, Santa Cruz - 9.82 miles

“Family-run winery specializing in local and unique wines. A couple of their wines have even received 100 pts at the California State Fair! Initially they only had a few red wines but over the past couple years have expanded to include whites and a port. The winery is open Fridays and Saturdays for tastings (Reserve space on their website). I love the Firenze super Tuscan blend, the Zinfandel and the Viogner. They also have a second tasting room on the Westside open Thurs-Sun every week.“

“Met David Bruce way back first in Tampa fl at Burns restaurant. Second met David Bruce and wife at their house. The best wine he was making was aGewürztraminer. BUT IT DID NOT Sell BECAUSE IT COULD NOT BE PRONOUNCED. What a shame, it was delicious. But I had a great time both time I met David Bruce.“
