“A gal pal and I met for lunch at Top Thai in Castro Valley. It's a mom and pop place, nothing fancy, but homey. Our waiter barely went through the motions and did NOT mention to us that he would be charging us for take out boxes (which we asked for) and bags (which we did not ask for). I don't think I would have minded the fees (20 cents and 10 cents respectively) had he given us a heads up that they would be coming. We had to ask for the check multiple times, but too be fair he had a lot of tables.
The food is GREAT! Fresh, flavorful, VERY tasty! It came out fast and their lunch offerings are reasonably priced. We each tried one of their two soups (I have posted a picture of their coconut soup done vegetarian), crispy egg rolls (a bit too greasy for me but the dipping sauce is divine, green chicken curry with rice (included), and chicken Pad Thai (delicious). This is a great local lunch spot!!!“

“This beautiful Thai restaurant is located in Danville. Yesterday we had project dinner in this restaurant. Liked the fish dish more than chicken dish . Thai Basil chicken was little sweeter in taste similar to teriyaki chicken. Shrimp tempura & whole Brazino fish fry was awesome in taste similar!“

“Delicious food, great service, fun atmosphere!“
“First time eating in this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We had the steamed dumplings with crab, garlic fried rice, whole branzino with fish sauce and green beans with mushrooms and half half purple rice and jasmine rice. They were all delicious.
The steamed dumplings came out right away but we had to wait awhile for the next dish. Then the green beans and mushrooms came out which were perfectly crispy and in an oyster/fish garlic sauce. The next dish didn’t come out for a long time. We were so hungry that we essentially ate the entire side before our second two dishes came out.
It was obviously not our server’s fault. The kitchen could have timed it better.
We did not have any beverages nor dessert. The bill to $148 with an above average tip. We will be back but it’s not going to be a regular thing due to the price.“

“The ambience was good. The food was a mix — some dishes were great, others just so-so.
The sauce with the roti was way too salty, and the roti itself wasn’t fluffy and came out a bit cold. The tofu sauce was mostly mayonesse The fried rice was good, and so were the drunken noodles and red curry.“

“This was my first time eating here, footnote. I’m not from this area. Had a group that went hiking and decided on Thai food after the hike. Went with the chicken yellow curry and Jazmyne rice. Overall, it was good and the service was very friendly. At the end, they brought out some snacks for dessert that were prepackaged.“

“They just hosted our annual Post-Thanksgiving Dinner. We were a party of 30. So much amazing food, and the service was wonderful. There are some special dishes we ordered that needed to be pre-ordered. “House Special Crab and Curry Crab” did not disappoint. We will definitely be back to try more dishes when we are in town.“

“I’ve eaten here only one time and gotten take out a number of times. This is a great neighborhood Thai restaurant. Everything I’ve ordered, which is mostly the vegetarian options has been super solid. I love their pad prik khing. I do feel terrible every time I pick up my takeout that there are so few customers dining in. In 2026, I’m going to dine in here more often since they’re so nice!“

“I am a huge fan of Thai cuisine! It is, in fact, one of my absolute favorites.
I have had the pleasure of dining at various Thai restaurants across different cities and countries—Los Angeles, New York, Nice, and others. But I can assure you with absolute certainty: I have never tasted anything better or more delicious among Thai restaurants than the dishes served right here at Mai Thai. The food is delicious, generous, and exquisite, featuring a truly stunning presentation—all served with warmth and love! To all fellow fans of Thai cuisine, I wholeheartedly recommend this specific restaurant: Mai Thai.
I have never had such a delicious meal anywhere else, nor have I ever been welcomed with such warmth, attentiveness, and a true home-away-from-home feeling!
I love you guys!!!“

“It might be a bit pricey, but the portions are definitely worth it. I recommend the owners to serve rice as a compliment vs paying close to $6.00 for a single rice portion. The environment could change and this solely would shift based on the owners’ budget and their goals as a restaurant owners. The food and service are top-notch compared to other Thai spots. I’ll keep coming back to this great local Union City restaurant.“

“The praram sauce was delicious. They made the sauce vegetarian on request and it was absolutely delicious despite a modification. The veggies in the praram vegetables dish were cooked to perfection as well. Waiting for next visit 🤤
Vegetarian options: Truly vegetarian alternatives on request. At a lot of places the vegetarian swaps taste fishy (pun unintended). No such thing here, their vegetarian dishes are truly free from meat/fish. Thank u Pagarung 🙏“

“I met friends (who had never experienced Thai food before) at House of Basil for lunch. I ordered for us, because I'm a big fan of Thai food, and selected Satay, Green Curry with Chicken, Rendang Beef, and of course, some Pad Thai. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely return when I'm back in the area!“

“Chai Thai Noodles Hayward is a fantastic spot for comforting Thai flavors! The noodles were perfectly cooked, rich in taste, and well-balanced with just the right level of spice and aroma. Every dish felt fresh and satisfying, especially the signature noodle bowls that really stand out. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming. A great place for a quick, flavorful meal easily a 5-star experience!“

“We are vegetarian and tried their tikka masala tofu wraps, and the fries. Excellent taste, healthy ingredients, made fresh and fries were baked. The mint drink was refreshing 💚. Overall we loved the quality of the food. Maria was particularly great at hospitality.“

“I've been contemplating going to this place for years. I wasn't able to stop by there because I was always at work. I finally went with my family and they don't miss a beat. It was on point. I will go there every week if I could. Everything was tender. Delicious, flavorful, colorful and pretty much healthy, which is rare nowadays. You can tell that they have been in this business for a while cuz they know what they're doing“

“My BF lived in Oakland for a couple of decades and never been here; so we thought we’d give it a try. Seems quite authentic, though we couldn’t quite stomach the fermented pork sausage. The fried version was good of course. Jeo Pa Dach was excellent, as was the quail. We’ll come back to try other dishes! It’s a small, simple, no frills restaurant.“

“Today, I discovered a Taishan-style restaurant. I haven’t seen it for a long time. It’s the taste of my childhood. You can add your favorite salty soup balls and ingredients according to your own taste. Their steamed rice is also pretty good, nutritious and delicious. Nothing I ordered was too bad, the dishes were rich and colorful, and the service was very good. I will try their rice bowls and skewers next time. The ones ordered by the next table looked very good, and they also have several nourishing soups. I recommend everyone to try it!“

“I eat Thai food once a week and this ranks among the best in the area...smaller, unassuming place but a very pleasant waitstaff and crazy good food...they also understood “mild” and adjusted all the dishes perfectly...we tried 5 items and all were good!“

“Vulcan Thai Cafe is the kind of neighborhood restaurant that leaves an impression well beyond the meal itself. Lily, the owner, was an exceptionally gracious host: warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure the dining experience was a memorable one. She took the time to explain the menu with care and shared stories of Thai culture that gave the meal a welcome sense of place and authenticity.
I ordered the Emerald Salmon Curry, and it was excellent. The salmon was complemented by a beautifully balanced curry sauce, which was fragrant, nuanced, and seasoned with remarkable precision. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, offering just the right contrast in texture while absorbing the flavors of the curry without losing their character.
Between the quality of the food and Lily’s generous hospitality, Vulcan Thai Cafe offers far more than a good meal; it offers the sort of personal, culturally rich dining experience that makes a restaurant worth returning to.“

“This Thai/Lao spot is truly a hidden gem in the Industrial area of Hayward off Highway 92. Fortunately, it's right off the freeway at the Clawiter/Eden Landing and you can spot it along the freeway.
Offering Thai and Lao food with some sushi rolls but I'm here for the Thai/Lao food as I love Nam Khao which is Southeast Asian crispy rice salad (with Lao pork) with plenty of flavor and textures accompanied with peanuts, mint, cilantro and lettuce for wrapping.
Royal Lao does a good one with plenty of bold flavors and heat (I asked for medium). The only comment I have for this dish it wasn't crispy (and not due to take out) so no crunch to it at all...no worries...popped into the air fryer and perfect! 4/5
:: Chicken Larb - ground chicken, herbs like mint, lime and fish sauce and chili with some cucumber and salad. - Flavorful and yummy. 4/5
:: Pork skewer (4) - good and juicy but could've been charred a bit to render some of the fat and get some caramelization from the sugars. Accompanied by a tomato-based sauce 3.5/5
Service friendly and efficient. Spoke to the owner, Noi and she mentioned the place has been there a year. Great option for Thai/Lao in the area as not many unless you go to East Oakland (Champa!) and head to Stockton's Angel Cruz Park.
Highly recommend stopping by. Place has a few tables for dining (no table service) but set up for take out. Pricing in line with similar spots. I'll definitely return to try other items and for the Nem Khao! Thank you Noi!
Note: Best to call or place order online to minimize wait.“

“I had a great experience at this Thai restaurant. It has a nice cozy mom n’ pop atmosphere to it. Service was good, I ordered a cup of tom yum soup with a side of jasmine rice and it was very yummy. My friend who I went with is from Castro Valley and they always order the Pad Kee Mao. Super solid option if you’re craving noodles and a bit of spice! This is just my preference but I really liked how they used glass cups for water rather than plastic like how most restaurants use. The only thing that I wish they included on their menu is a papaya salad. I love papaya salad so I was a bit disappointed when I couldn’t find it on the menu. Overall, this was a solid Thai restaurant so I would recommend trying it and supporting their small business!“
