“The only negative I have to say is the location. However the food was great. I got the short ribs. The meat was tender. My partner got that katsu and it's the crunch that gets me. Delicious. The Mac salad was good too. No weird after taste of fish oil that I've had at other places.“

“Ordered a poke plate with spicy garlic tuna and shoyu tuna. Both were really good, but I preferred the shoyu tuna. You get so much more fish at these types of poke places vs the ones that are chipotle style where you choose your mix-ins and sauce. I much prefer these types of poke places for the quality and value. Got the plate with one scoop of rice and seaweed salad - not the best seaweed salad, so I probably would choose two scoops of rice without seaweed salad next time. Also ordered a side of macaroni salad, it was just okay. I probably wouldn’t order that again. Overall, great poke and will be coming back!“

“My food was not horrible, but not tender and had no sauce it was dry. The macaroni salad was ok. When I ate a bite of beef with the macaroni salad, it was great. I had two scoops of rice and only one macaroni salad. It would be nice to have a choice“

“I love L&L and frequent different locations often. The Palm Ave location just cannot seem to get an entire order correct and it’s frustrating because I know the service expectation of the brand. Give them some guidance on preparing multiple meals correctly for a single order.

“Overall, this La Mesa location it’s not too bad. It’s pretty good. The barbecue beef again. This is a college area and yet this one in La Mesa beats the one located in La Jolla so something‘s going on over in the expensive area where they’re cheating the value or the quality where you have El Cajon and now here in La Mesa much better quality service is pretty good in the atmosphere. It’s it’s giving me that Hawaiian vibe a little bit so watch out expensive living areas you gotta pick up your game and stop being cheap.“

“So I just used DoorDash to order a pork combo. I wanted a plate with all rice but I guess I ordered it wrong. When I got my food there was a note attached to my food and they got exactly what I wanted. To the employee who wrote the note THANK YOU! You’re an amazing employee. “Absolutely delicious. Best Hawiian food I’ve had since being on Hawaii, 10/10. My new go-to! Good job guys!! I got the Seafood combo platter delivered, the Kalbi (short ribs) was seasoned to perfection, shrimp was fried perfectly, and the fish katsu was also seasoned perfectly, and had a nice crunch to the crust. You can really tell they put love into the food. Mac salad was very good, just added a pinch of black pepper (personal preference). Mahalo!“

“Everyone in our house used to like poke. After we found Poke Chop, we LOVE poke! They have so many options of fish and sauces and toppings. I’ve never found as big of a selection. My daughter would eat here every day if I’d let her. There aren’t many places in Hillcrest where a family of 3 can get dinner for around $30, and be totally stuffed, and not feel blah afterwards. The fish is always really fresh. The only thing that could make it better is if they added mango, mmmmm. We try to eat there as much as possible because it will be a very sad day if they close. (It’s a reality in the Hillcrest restaurant business ☹️).“

“I came into l &l after a nasty dirty experience at chipotle so I wasn’t expecting much from a food establishment 2 doors down and I was blown away with a my experience at L&L the place was clean very welcoming Magaly the cashier was awesome and turned my whole day around her customer service and great attitude patience and great overall vibe was beautiful my friend had to compliment her on her great service I will always come to this food establishment when I’m in this area and had to give a review so everyone could know what great service this place has and the food is amazing as well and cook is doing a great job aswell“

“So delicious! The California roll was the best one I’ve ever had- it was made fresh and very tasty. The spam musubi was delicious as well- hot and the rice cooked perfectly. The gyoza was good as well. The prices are fair, and the service was great.“

“I haven't been to Zarlitos in so long, maybe even years and nothing has changed! I came in wanting a simple Filipino breakfast and I found exactly that here!

I walked in and the restaurant was pretty big inside with lots of seating and it was nicelt decorated. The host sat me right away and gave me a menu. I did have to ask for water though but that's okay because there were only two people working from what I could see and there were a lot of take out orders coming in.

Initially, I asked for a small bowl of sinigan and they sais they only do large orders so i decided to skip it. I ordered the beef silog with a side of spam and lumpia. The beef was well seasoned but a little tough honestly, it was still really good the eggs were cooked perfectly, sunny side up and nice and runny. The garlic rice was a nice balance to the dish as well. The spam was cut at a decent thickness and added a good depth of flavor to the meal. And the lumpia was alao pretty good. Not the best I've ever had but still very enjoyable.

Overall it was good ans worth a visit if youre looking for a nice homemade meal.“

“We had my dad’s retirement party here at JJ’s Island Grindz and our host was Ellis I cannot speak highly enough on the service he provided for us it will be unmatched. He treated us like family, very attentive, very respectful, on time with everything very professional. I just want to thank him and his crew for providing excellent customer service love and care to our family and friends. The food was amazing the drinks were delicious and had a great presentation. “I've been to this location and ordered online a few times. It's always been friendly, fast and fresh. I'm surprised at the bad reviews, but maybe I've just been lucky. I find The Poke Co. is one of the better, more solid options that doesn't try to nickel and dime you for ingredients and gives good portions.“
