“I tried baguette, puff pastry brioche and fig tartlet. The baguette was nothing more, the brioche was hollow rancid but it must have been an accident since the others are delighted with it and after informing the shop I got a refund which is very kind and fair play. The tartlet was divine and I dream of tasting it again but since I don't live nearby, I never found it on the right day, even via Doordash. “Il Canto Cafe is pretty awesome. Hella convenient for me because my office is upstairs. Back in the day, this used to be a Tully's coffee. To the right of it used to be a pretty busy Chinese restaurant. All that is gone now. This morning I got really hungry and weren't quite ready for lunch yet. The guy said good morning to me when I went out for a cigarette, so I decided to try their breakfast croissant (cheese egg sausage) $7. It was tasty! It hit the spot and I was ready for work again. “First time here but had heard good things about New Taraval Cafe from others and it lived up to the rumors! I ordered the Smash Burger with grilled onions ($13) and it was fantastic! The burger had two patties and was so thick I couldn't fit my mouth around it. The whole thing was so moist (in a good way) that I couldn't keep it together. It was at least a three napkin burger and even then, the juices were running down my hands and wrists! It came with a side ofries and they were good as well. The only thing I would've wanted along with this burger would be a nice thick milkshake, but my calorie count would've never allowed it! Didn't even look to see if they offered shakes! My friend had the scrambled eggs with hash browns, toast, and bacon and she really enjoyed her meal. The eggs were cooked medium, so they looked moist. There were five strips of bacon (that's a LOT of bacon), all fried nice and crisp. The hash browns looked delicious; lots of crunchy parts and soft insides. She had two slices of sourdough toast with butter and jam, too, and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice (you can see the machine near the cooking area). This is a great neighborhood find. Lots of people seem to know about this place; there was a line when we arrived at 12:30 and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table although space at the counter opened up before that. I noticed a fruit plate going by that had a great mixture of fresh fruit on it, so everything seems to be fresh here. I'll definitely go back to try other items!“

“Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, this coffee shop offers a haven for coffee aficionados and food enthusiasts alike. My recent visit left me impressed with its delightful array of coffee and quick bite options, coupled with its inviting ambiance.Stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately drawn to its charming decor, which added to the overall appeal of the space. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee permeated the air, setting the stage for a memorable experience. However, my only disappointment arose when I opted for the affogato as a "for here" option, only to find it served in a to-go cup. While this was a minor inconvenience, it detracted from the otherwise pleasant experience.Furthermore, I noticed that the tables were not adequately cleaned, which was unexpected for a coffee shop of this caliber. Despite this oversight, the quality of the coffee and food options compensated for the minor shortcomings. With a few improvements in service, it has the potential to become a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike.“

“How anyone could give this restaurant below 5 stars is beyond me!!Best, chillest, casual brunch in San Francisco, with food that is absolutely perfect. After retuning here time after time, it’s finally time to leave my review! The vibe here is very casual, you order up front and then seat yourself. You’re surrounded by a clean airy space with racks of fresh croissants cooling in the corners and a not-too-loud music serenade.Food is so good, I often order it from DoorDash when I’m not able to come in.The croissants are so soft , flaky, taste like they came straight from Europe.Recently I tried the key like croissant and it was so fun and refreshing!Hands down the best egg sandwich in San Francisco. Thick slabs of juicy bacon, perfectly salted egg, generous smears of avocado, and melty cheddar are sandwiched between 2 large slices of lightly toasted fresh sourdough bread. There is also some light magical herbed spread that makes this sandwich truly unbeatable. Can’t get enough of it.I’m known for always saying “I can make this better in my kitchen” when I’m at restaurants, but I can honestly say that there is nothing at Vive La Tarte that I could make better in my own kitchen, coming from a professional baker!“

“One of San Francisco's hidden gems ?! We had just returned from visiting The Wiz in Emerald City. Tough trip, so we were hungry. We goggle nearby restaurants and saw that Z Zoul Cafe was only a ten minute walk away at 295 Eddy St. It was Super Bowl Sunday, so the streets were kind of empty. We found the place. The first thing we noticed was how small but quaint it was. We were greeted by one of the owners and seated right away. We were served hot and spicy tea that was delicious! The menu was small, but the choices were great! The four of us ordered different things so we could share. I decided on the Beef Kofta that came with a green salad, Basmati rice with Tahini sauce and hummus, which you could tell was freshly made. When the food arrived, we were shocked and pleased that the amount was huge! We were told they believed in making sure you had plenty. We did! The beef was very, very tender and tasty! None of us were disappointed with anything. I will say that when you go, try the Dalya Pudding. It's made with Egyptian rice and has the right amount of sweetness. We all had leftovers to take home. The price for all of us was far less than we would have paid at well-known restaurants and totally worth it! I know we will be returning to Z Zoul. It's five stars worth it ! “Love this place! Went for the first time this morning and was pleasantly surprised at how good and affordable the food was! We paid $35 including tip for the half size udon, full teriyaki plate, 12pc sushi, and two drinks. LOVED the teriyaki! The employees(owners?) were so friendly, we can’t wait to go back! Be advised they are cash or Venmo only“

“It was a pleasant surprise when I found this place in Chinatown. Super cute interior and superb food! It’s a perfect place for Sunday brunch. And it was not even crowded on Sunday. The circular French toast was one of the best I’ve tasted. Will definitely come back.“

“Cute place located inside a parking garage. Look for the Wells Fargo to enter - very close to Union Square and sandwiches you will remember. They are great about customizing there as well - I got the black bean vegetarian sandwich and I'm still remembering it months later! Check out the unique KitKat selection there - flavors like churro and birthday cake KitKats!Vegetarian options: Excellent black bean vegetarian sandwich and they customize with the bread and spreads!“

“The ambiance here is totally old school San Francisco and an experience in itself. Cozy - okay a bit tavernish - but very welcoming. Drinks are far more reasonably priced than the nearby establishments and tables were full of friends (all ages) socializing or like us waiting to go on to their dinner reservation. Only food is saltines and a wedge of cheese - it's hilarious but works. In a city where so much has become the same with cool restaurants and stylish bars - it's a breath of fresh air - something I never thought I would say. We loved it and will be back.“
