Owner Molly was welcoming and Jack, our server was wonderful too. We met chefs on vacation who had come twice in a week to eat there too. Don’t walk, run. But get a reservation, seating is limited.“

As the name mingei implies, the restaurant is a carefully curated international exhibit of food and the cultures that celebrate it in their own unique ways. The staff are docents for your culinary adventure and the chefs are masters of their craft. Some of my best bites in San diego in the past couple years, came from Artifact and I cannot wait to go back with more uninitiated.“

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff struck the perfect balance of being friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We started with the tartare di tonno, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful—an excellent beginning to the meal. The housemade focaccia deserves a special mention: airy, perfectly seasoned, and quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. For the main course, I enjoyed the bucatini all’amatriciana. The pasta was clearly house-made, cooked to perfection, and the sauce had that authentic depth of flavor that only true Southern Italian cooking delivers. We finished with an affogato, which was the ideal ending—simple, rich, and satisfying. Monzu offers authentic Southern Italian fare with genuine hospitality, and everything we tried reflected both freshness and craftsmanship. “We had a great dining experience at Urban Plates in Long Beach. Mariana explained the menu choices in a very unrushed manner, and we decided on the steak. I ordered the Chimichurri grass-fed steak with balsamic brussel sprouts and herb-roasted potatoes. All of it was delicious ( and healthy too!). The deserts were absolutely killer too. We will definitely eat here again next time we're in Long Beach.“

“Black Radish - Opened the door and walked into an Elegant yet casual interior. The vibe was warm and the staff very kind, accommodating, and friendly. The menu is unique, not the typical items that appear on almost all restaurant menus. First off were the Biscuits. Excellent texture, wonderful flavor and served with a soft herbed butter. Absolutely Amazing. Next up the Coconut soup, Delicious with a hint of spice from thinly sliced Serrano peppers on top and wow! Pure Yum! Following up with the Pappardelle with squash. This dish was perfection. The pasta noodles were cooked perfectly. The flavor of the pasta noodles was delicious and with the sauce and squash it was unbelievably delicious. One of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. The food is amazing and full of delicious flavors. High quality ingredients expertly prepared.
2 criticisms however;
* The portions are ridiculously small with a steep price tag
* The bathroom is part of the main dining room so when one walks into the bathroom those sitting at certain tables can view the interior of the bathroom - I find this distasteful.“

“WOW!! If I could give more stars I would. Walked in at 6pm and was seated right away! The gyoza came out within 5 minutes and the entrees within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was absolutely mouth watering across the board!!! We got the pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles roasted pork. The lavender milk tea was an absolute delight and the server was so kind and attentive. Definitely our new favorite Thai spot :)“

“We met Jim on the day we found out about him generously donating the proceeds of a fundraiser for Brandon, the late owner of “The Friendly”. They had run out of the “fundraiser special” so I tried the Super Beef. Piled high with rare, tender roast beef on a toasted Sweet Onion bun, I was blown away. It’s so huge that I really should have only eaten half but I couldn’t - stop - eating! The taste of this delicious sandwich, along with the friendly demeanor of Jim and his assistant Asher, will have us coming back over and over!“

But the best part was the service: We lost some documents, and we thought we'd left them there. The entire staff was cooperative and friendly. They even gave us a follow-up call. “We have ordered Kebabs before here, we recently ordered a meal kit that was all rice and hardly any meat, I mean it was a joke, its a $30 meal. I messaged them because we have ordered several times before and thought maybe they would try to make it right but they never replied. This was 2 weeks ago. We will never buy food here again! The servings are very small and there are tons of other places to eat or order take out around here if they want to be jerks about it! The food is average really, we order out frequently so as not to have to cook and live in the area. We got about $1 worth of rice and lettuce for a $30 meal plate, what a joke!“

“Every Table meal subscription is amazing. Delicious, healthy foods at a very fair price. 5 dinners only $38. The best part is my area has brick and mortar stores where I just walk in and buy my meal prep for the week...Meals cooked in a local kitchen by real chefs with local fresh ingredients. I'm busy all the time and although I love cooking it's hard to cook for just one person. The majority of meals are 600 calories or less. An easy way for me to stay in my calorie deficit. I just had the chicken schwarma bowl and it was soooo good. Tasted just like a home cooked meal. Highly recommend“

“My boyfriend and I ordered to pick up chicken and chicharron empanadas and before arriving we called to tell them to separate the empanadas and they didn't answer, we called again and they didn't answer either so we assumed they were very busy (we were about 2 minutes from the place) when we arrived we saw the 2 people who were there doing nothing and talking ( the place was empty) So when we arrived we told them that we were calling them and they didn't answer. We told them that if they could separate the empanadas and they did it in a way that they were lazy“

“I pass by Big Front Door often heading to work. Decided to stop in and give it a try this afternoon. I got their Cobbler salad and my friend got the chicken parmesan sandwich. The portion sizes are very generous, I asked for extra dressing with my salad and didn't really need it as there was a decent amount left. The food tasted great and was served up without much of a wait time. The star of the show was the gentleman that helped us though! I wish I had taken the time to get his name to give him proper credit. He greeted us, made small talk while my friend and I decided what to have and as we were leaving he offered to clear our table for us. Very polite and friendly! I will definitely be adding this to my list of regular places to go.“
