Owner Molly was welcoming and Jack, our server was wonderful too. We met chefs on vacation who had come twice in a week to eat there too. Don’t walk, run. But get a reservation, seating is limited.“

They had run out of the “fundraiser special” so I tried the Super Beef. Piled high with rare, tender roast beef on a toasted Sweet Onion bun, I was blown away. It’s so huge that I really should have only eaten half but I couldn’t - stop - eating! “HillCrust Pizza is on a completely different level. I have eaten pizza all over Los Angeles and San Diego, but this place has something special that keeps me coming back. I actually make the drive from Beverly Hills just to eat here, and every time it feels worth it. The quality and consistency are unmatched.

The Loaded Hilly Philly Cheesesteak is my favorite item on the menu. The flavor is outstanding, the portions are generous, and the fact that they use halal grass fed meat makes it even better. It is without question one of the best Philly steaks I have ever had. Their pizzas are just as impressive. The dough is organic and non GMO, soft and airy yet with the perfect bite, and the San Marzano tomato sauce gives it a fresh, authentic taste.

I have tried just about everything here and it has all been excellent. The Golden Hill with Mike’s Hot Honey has the perfect touch of sweetness and spice. The Sunset Cliffs with pickled jalapeños has the kind of flavor that stays with you. Even the Margherita, which is usually simple anywhere else, is fresh and full of flavor here. What stands out most is that no matter what I order it always comes out consistent and delicious.

The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. The restaurant is quiet, peaceful, and relaxing, making it the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your food without distractions. The staff is also friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.

The staff is always friendly and sincerely happy to see you. Sebastian at the front counter greets you as if your are a close friend. He will help you in any way he can to make your visit an enjoyable experience. Sometimes the music is a little loud, however, just ask them to turn it down. Also, now that the management has understood and addressed the issue they had with the unruly High Tech High students in and around the restaurant it has been a pleasure to sit inside or out side in the two patios. I would recommend the Koobideh Pita wrap with the Tzatziki sauce. The meat and spice mixture is wonderful, the French fries are always hot and crispy. Try dipping your fries into the Tzatziki you will not be disappointed. I also would like to mention the great kitchen staff. You can tell they enjoy being there. They are always busy, chit chat conversations between all staff are never observed. The manager is always ready to help if you have any issues.“

I'm busy all the time and although I love cooking it's hard to cook for just one person. The majority of meals are 600 calories or less. An easy way for me to stay in my calorie deficit. I messaged them because we have ordered several times before and thought maybe they would try to make it right but they never replied. This was 2 weeks ago. We will never buy food here again! The servings are very small and there are tons of other places to eat or order take out around here if they want to be jerks about it! The food is average really, we order out frequently so as not to have to cook and live in the area. We got about $1 worth of rice and lettuce for a $30 meal plate, what a joke!“

“What a gem of a restaurant. We saw a post from an influencer on this restaurant and decided to make a weekend trip to San Diego to check it out. It sure did not disappoint. It very much exceeded our expectations. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and the food & drinks were excellent. My French 75 was delicious. We ordered a tableful of appetizers and sides and got the tomahawk steak. It was so good. It came with various sauces to eat it with (I was able to try all the steak sauces I ever wanted to without committing to one). It split perfectly between the 3 of us as both my mom and I are on the smaller appetite side, and my husband was able to finish the rest. And you absolutely cannot forget the cornbread with the cinnamon honey brown butter. It was to die for.“
