A sliced hard boiled egg would have elevated it perfectly so a note to myself to add that next time if it's an option. Lots of healthy options to choose from. Will definitely eat here again.“

“Went here for restaurant week this week, and it's just as good as I remembered! I got the carpaccio to start and picked on my friend's artichokes. The artichokes were still one of my all time faves! I got the lasagna as my main entree, which was flavorful and cheesy! I got the chocolate panna cotta for dessert, which is probably the best I've had! The service was friendly, and helpful, and patient with us gals catching up for 3.5 hours!! We also got lucky with a beautiful sunset that evening, but regardless of the time, the view is always nice.“

I had the lamb meatballs which were delicious and very tender. My wife had the hummus and the pita chips were delicious. The burger and grilled cheese for main course were both very tasty. The only thing that let down the meal slightly were that the chocolate torte and the lemon tart tasted like they were bought in rather than made freshly. The chocolate torte was a bit dry and the lemon tart wasn't set. They still had great flavour. I've been served broccoli with bugs at other restaurants--but never at MGS) The restaurant may be small, but it is always presentable. Manager Manny Mejia is always on site greeting guests and making sure all customers have an exemplary experience. I have been coming to Urban Plates for years with my family and friends. I love the Plate Pass program that gives me 20% off of my entire bill including wine/beer. The restaurant is always clean even during their busiest times. When it is peak eating times, you may have to wait for a table but, Manny and his staff will try to make your wait as quick as possible. Finally, let's talk about the food. The beet salad is one of my all-time favorite salads. I also love the chciken tenders which are addictive as are the fries. The steak with chimichurri sauce is delicious. Wish they'd bring back shrimp though!I wish they had a warm beverage option... coffee, tea, etc. All the drinks are cold.The service and convenience of the best part. Ordering ahead online or in the app means almost no waiting, but even ordering at the counter is pretty swift. The staff is always helpful, friendly and goes out of their way for us. It is the sister restaurant of the Michelin-noted Lola 55 in downtown San Diego. Every taco is assempled with care, with some unusual pairings, and photo-ready.
