Delicious and enjoyable food, enough cheap
A real hidden gem. As someone who has spent most of my life in Asia, I can confidently say the food here is incredibly authentic, fresh, and expertly prepared. I've been back twice already and brought different friends each time, every single one has been impressed. I daresay the food here is better than many restaurants in SF Chinatown!

The food and service are decent. However, this was the first time I’ve ever been chased down for a tip. Sometimes, I choose to leave a separate cash tip on the table rather than on the credit card. Demanding a tip is a greedy behavior I don’t like.

Porridge King offers a variety of delicious Chinese dishes like House Noodles, Fried Pork Chops with Garlic, and Fish Congee. Customers enjoy the Clay Pot Braised Tofu with Seafood, Garlic Pork Chop, and San Pan Porridge. The restaurant's ambiance is clean and the staff are nice. The food makes up for it with fresh, flavorful wok-cooked entrees. Customers enjoy the minced pork & preserved egg porridge, roasted duck, roast pork, bbq pork and the Pan fried rice noodle with XO sauce. The porridge is a little bit watery which some like, while others like it a bit thicker. Roast duck, and bbq pork over rice are favorites, with a lot of rice. The restaurant is a go to location for porridge and comfort food that is reasonably priced. However, some have noted issues with hygiene and service attentiveness. Some dishes are not as good as they used to be, with beef brisket being cold and braised cod pieces smaller with thicker coating, and chicken meat found in a clay pot. The Shrimp and Egg Chow Fun was disappointing with thin noodles tasting like instant noodles and no wok hei goodness, but the Roast Duck over rice plate was good, with the meat cut to avoid greasiness. The service was fine and the hot tea was welcome on a cold rainy day.
